Sump is cool as feck but completely pointless as it'll be mingin cos you drive it every day lol!

That sump looks cool as!!! Your rite the top two are breather pipes that connect to the rocker cover. The two underneath, one you'll need to splice into your header tank pipe (water system) and one back to the manifold next to the alt bracket...there for the automatic choke;)
Keith the wheels hold up quite well so i hope the sump will to.

Cheers, got most of the pipes checked now. The bottom ones you talk of are the inlet warmer ones. I knew about so thats cool. But as far as i know they dont have anything to do with auto choke.
Cheers dude, oo was up your way to day :)

lookin good ben, you polish the inlet/dizzy urself cos i want mine doing?
any tips?
No, after tidying up i've burried the buffer so i gave them to the metal polishers and i really just couldnt be arsed...lol
Tips. Dont do the inlet. The casing is utter sh*te and there is alot of hard to get to areas. Dizzy, get sanding. The casting isnt back but again there are hard to get to bits but they can be done with a bit of time.

might as well paint it then or chrome it?
Matrin: Kinda found one cheap ish, soi it would have been rude not too. Thank you very much, means alot from a man of your long serving legendaryness(might not be a word but who cares)
Sparkie, you have to polish metal before you chrome it, or it will just be a dull off gold is colour. Paint it is the best way.

Looking good Ben, admire the amount of time going into polishing bits. I've done a few things on mine and totally underestimated the time involved. I started doing my T40 inlet and after a good 20-30 hours I'm only halfway there (haven't touched it for a few months it made me that sick hehe).
Can't wait to have a good look round it later in the year at the shows. Keep it up :thumb:

Yeah me too, was a bit worried at first but now very glad i did it.
Have just got in from the bodyshop. Cars getting painted tomoz so it should be home back tomorrow afternoon... Yay.
Bays been repainted, crossmember sealed, i've seam sealed bits that had been welded on the bulk head, screens out, scuttle has been repaired and primerd and the old battrey camp bit removed, grille primerd too.
Sorry the pics are crap my phones got dust in it..
I stoped in and made the tea, while steve was flatting the first lot of primer off.

While back i bought a door, and a new styled audi handle.. When i got home had a nice surprice... They had come.
Even tho the door was very well wraped the monkeys had managed to bent one corn and put a nice dent in the middle, but mr hammer and miss dolly can sort that out...

Is there no way of claiming from the couriers then or you not bother because they will get sprayed anyway. It's crap when things like that happen though.
How long till you can start reassembling everything again then?
Dont think so, would think its written in the terms.
And i'll be painting them anyway so i'll hammer it stright and repair it.

Dont see the point with an xe. As its not really needed, but with a let maybe. But becase the bays been plated over all the seams with plates inc around the mounts i didnt think any more was needed... The o/s is plated all around the mount, the gear box still is platyed above the mount/thru the middle..
Cheers too.

Im never going away for a weekend again whilst waiting for an update on here!!
Well done benn looking cool!
So as the song says "i've had an absolute cu*t of a day!"
Started by getting the m/c and servo fitted, then working out where i wanted to run the brake lines and where the 2/1 would go.
Started making up test lines from old coat hangers.. Even this was a total nightmare. But got most done now.

I would not dare to work in that engine bay due to fear of scratching it! lol
Keep it up :)

Good work Benn - You legend
Am having to be carefull Ad, chiped a small bit in the arch when sropping the old shock out so am gonna have to touch them up.
Thank you Keith!
Hope your not planning on putting the let in through the top?? lol
Through the bottom all the way, i put my redtop in through the top today and no idea how you can do it with out scratching the bay!
Wouldnt fit an engine thru the bottom ever again. to much stuff to catch on.
Let will go in stright thru the top as all should. Bit of cardboard or carpet down the drives side and will be fine. Theres loads of room so it clears easy.

Ben you are one crazy ass mo fo. Top drawer tho, always one that has to go that little extra... OCD? lol
Not this arguement again lol
Have to say though id never fit one through the top again, so much easier underneath...
Just lift engine and box straight up, instead of mesing about tilting it down etc etc. lol
lol Cheers Craig, and a lil odc is good for you...
Allways happens Ad, everyone has there own ways, i just like the easy one...lol Lift, tilt, slot in.

Sorry dont want to start anything lol But after todays effort of fitting one through the top and scratching the hell out of my bay, i just wondered how hes gonna do it with that fresh bay.
As i said on msn benn looks awsome hope to see it at pvs
Never scratched it before...

I'd bend them by hand, feck that bending tool.
I'd bend them by hand, feck that bending tool.
Cant get nice tidy bends by hand i find, been using the engine stand to get nice bents on...lol
Thankfully they are all made now bar the two most rear ones.
As long as i can get the gearbox painted i might fit the engine next weekend.
once again benn amazin work and great ideas..
Keep your chin up dude! Despite the pain in the ass brakelines it'll all be worth it when its back together. :)
Dude, looking good. I share your frustrations, when I fitted my engine I was pooing myself about scratching the bay. I went in from the top, gearbox first.
I found that the pipe bending machine left marked on the pipes themselves, done them by hand in the end. Good results are achievable...

Thank you, Not worried about fitting the engine tbh, done it a few times before, first time i was bit time!
My benders not bad, but i've been using my engine stand handle to bend them now..lol Gives a nicer bend.
Those are done by hand? They are very very tidy.

Done it a few times, hate it every time, dont ever go how i want or look tidy.
I'm just not a brake line making man. Or i want to much from them..
With a big hand from Dan, got the dash out to day, carpets out.
Started to tidy up and sort my wiring loom, worked out were to run the in car brake lines and bias adjuster. Gonna route the last line tomoz and get all the front ones fitted too.
Gonna try and get the battrey cabling run to the boot as well. And new rear speaker wires. Get the floor behind the dash sealed and painted too.

Rear lines..

Got them all in and painted, Pclips sorted to hold the drivers side one on too.
The single rear is make, but the wilwood unions are an odd one and i dont know what flaking end i need... Any gen?
Finished stripping out the inside of the car too, worked out where to sit the battrey, then where to run the cable for it, so that all in but needs fixing down and making nice.
Have re-run the rear speaker all down the pass side, carried on tidying up the loom thats behind the dash. All the speaker cables are nicely routed and finish together in the center, lots just tidyed up really.
Next thing to be fitted is the rack, so wanted to paint hte ends and clean it up.

!!!! lol lol lol
Brake lines look nice and neat, good work.
Brake pipes Matt, gotta say if you can help it i wouldnt..lol
I started using a pipe bender but it gives the bends to much of a sweaping curve. I'm doing it all over the handle on my engine stand, cause its smaller it makes a tighter bend, much neater and user to controle.
Thank you too.

Finished the rack off this morning, painted the streering arms up black and fitted the new boots i had in stock. Just need to longer black cable ties for the bigger end.
Finished the rack mounts, these are odd as they seam to have a plated finish on them which doesnt wanna come off when sanded but when you polish it it becomes a bit see thru..

Thank you very much, you havent seen it? Well it will be at pv (not totaly finished) and more finished at Billing, so make sure you come find it and have a good look.
Have been doing lots of boring bits ready to get the engine fitted, mostly rebuilding and refitting bits on the engine and inlet manifold.
When to start building up the inlet manifold, pulled out the paper that had been blocking the ports to find...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates/IMG_7579.jpg
Now we all know that when you get anything painted, plated, polished, ground to check it over insides and such. So after a bit of brushing i was left with this.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates/IMG_7583.jpg
After a while of spraying carb cleaner and using a wheel spoke brush it had come up a bit better.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates/IMG_7584.jpg
Got the inlet all build up, gave it a wax first ;) everythings got new gaskets and all bolts and nuts replaced with stainless. Which is lovely but it will be cover with the top hat cover, so totaly point less but just cause you cant see it doesnt mean its not there..lol
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates/IMG_7597.jpg
With that built, time to fit everything to the block thats under the inlet..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates/IMG_7588.jpg
Even the pipes under here have polished jubilee clips..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates/IMG_7595.jpg
Inlet on,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates/IMG_7596.jpg
All built up with the top hat on, yes its only painted.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates/IMG_7598.jpg
Cambelt backing plate on, held on with more stainless... ;)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates/IMG_7587.jpg
And again it might be hidden but they are there. My old pullys painted Arden blue.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates/IMG_7586.jpg
