Looks good! Congrats on getting voted and getting into the top 5!
What car won? Doesnt look anything particually special in the line up from what i can make out?
Thank you very much.
Car that won was a Signum , fully leather retrim, full on air ride.. Won at the Opel triffen show too. (my mrs heard his mates saying they had all voted for it tho)
Fantastic car tho.
This was taking on my "lap of honor"

Did the feds jump on you from behind a bush for having no front number plate? :'(
No, plates normally in the window. Taken out at shows...

Does look good, but I can't understand why you've put larger wing mirrors on it; fairly sure you're faster than most things behind you now!
Thank you Sir, at the time i just wanted something different, liked the idea of them being elec too. I do fancy Nova stubby ones, but so many peep have them now...
Can't believe it's been so long since i updated this... But i've just been driving and enjoying the car really...
But there is a few things i've been doing. Picked up a spare rack, as mine is ok but because i polished it what 3 years ago it's just looking a meh..
Start the strip down.

Cars looking great as always Benn. I remember you having problems with your c.v joint a little while back, is it all sorted now? I think it's great how your still improving the car after all these years. How did you remove the slats from the grille?
Cheers Ben,
Seem of been ok since i did it. I had the Circlip groove recut to make the shaft longer so the joint knuckle can move more...
There are still bits i'm unhappy with, which is way i do it. Some things i can just pick holes in... car's are one of them. More so my own.... Hate things not being right!
The slates/back part of the grille are only plastic welded/heated in. So you just warm up the welds and they pop apart...
Picked one of these up too. Helps keep an eye and that...

If only I'd i've known mate, I'm sure I've got a brand new rack in the shed somewhere (probably covered in grinding dust tho!)

Yep. Just means it look a lil better..

Ah well, always the way. This one came from a 45k Nova.... So i'm hoping the low miles means a nice tight rack..lol

Sorted.
Not much happening on the car at the mo. Battery died, replacement at my work. Am thinking off fitting EPas as well as a few other winter jobs.
Sump leak is one of them and maybe a join fitted in to my exhaust too.

spanishfly (rob) told me to do it with it out on a stand upside down. Leave if overnight.
I did that, it still dripped. Different sump now, had it check and filed to be 100%flat. Hoping it was the heat from polishing that maybe warped the edges on mine now... Pisses me off it dripping.
You could look into a brand new steel sump Benn to try and tackle the problem. I started researching about it, you possibly need a different pickup too. Only worked out something like £35 for the sump new.
I have a modded pick up pipe due to running the zlet pump which arnt cheap... THe new one i have i hope will be ok as it's been made flat.

Sorry Kev didn't see your reply. Epas should just make slow steering and parking easier. As 7" wide wheels and lowness marks it hard.

No probs buddy - car is looking good as always.
Will you ever not be a bufty tart?
Cheers dude :)
And erm.... No i'll always be one. Well, i do want to build a drift car, that wont be bufty.
So, my last pics of a inlet tube and new new awesome hole saw! Add them together and you get...

So that fits ok. The other end tho... Eek. After a bit of cutting i had this...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMAG1043_zpsf9c61e7e.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/bennh/media/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMAG1043_zpsf9c61e7e.jpg.html)
Reason being its very hard to cut this off straight as they are angled up so much and i need it to point down.
Got it to where i wanted it after some messing about, but now i need to get it to stay together so i can go get it alloy welded.
I tried glue.. Wouldn't hold. So i could only try and Mig weld it. Now i know you can't mig weld alloy, but needs a must. I now know why you can't weld alloy with a mig..
After alot of sparks and smoke and a very bad head ache. I ended up with this.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2402_zpsd8b073ca.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/bennh/media/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2402_zpsd8b073ca.jpg.html)

But it was holding. Took it to see the man that does all my alloy/tig welding. So did two small welds then flicked off the mig and got it all Tigged.

Start piping it all back up. IC back in and that...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2405_zpsfbec244c.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/bennh/media/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2405_zpsfbec244c.jpg.html)
While rebuilding the front back up, i trimmed back a few bits i had spotted and marked.
Found that the rad pipe was pushed hard against this bit... Will be felted and made a better curved shape later...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2406_zpse6268c3b.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/bennh/media/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2406_zpse6268c3b.jpg.html)
Rad in, water pipes in, pour water in... Stop and find and fix leak lol
Roll out of the garage.
Starts first time. Bit tappety as it's not been started in a few months. All running...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2407_zpsbacb8084.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/bennh/media/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2407_zpsbacb8084.jpg.html)
Ah.... No air flow meter or filter. Much cleaner.
Wow while the flash on the bay is sooooooooooooooooooo dirty!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/1_zpsa95b92c9.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/bennh/media/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/1_zpsa95b92c9.jpg.html)
Now this is just phase 1. A quick test to make sure everything works. So nothing is very pretty.
Much like this... While working away i noticed this bit had been filled, same with the wing bit (ear on the side) cleaned them back to find it had been welded years ago, filled to look better which water must of got under and rusted. So out with the wire wheel (hence the dusty bay) clean it all to bare metal, rust treat. Wanted to fit a new panel here, but i can't find one at all (get a 90£ whole front panel, but i only need to headlight surround panel bit so bit of a waist) So i'm gonna have to cut it out and made one up myself. So that's the next bit....
Bad bit...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2401_zps2e2b1436.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/bennh/media/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2401_zps2e2b1436.jpg.html)
More cutting coming.... Anyone have one of the panels?
Oh and a small video, so you can see where i'm at and you'll notice the very untidy bit... I need to make new oil cooler lines to move it. Hence why it cabled tided to the bumper bar...
But Phase 1 finished.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xIYz2ixaRs
Oh and the next job is to get the arm/filer around to wards the front panel a bit more and start making a box to enclose it all... Then rip it all a part again...lol Great.

Just the brake servo to go and your completely smooothhhh!
Just a thought ben, you've drilled quite a large section out of the chassis, will this not weaken it? Could you not insert a steel tube and weld it in to add some strength and then pass the AFM pipe through that?
Just the brake servo to go and your completely smooothhhh!

Yep, i've got a thick walled bit of tube ready to weld back in. I'll then flat plate both ends for added strength. Just to be safe.
Looking good Benn

Cracked on with the need repairs. Gutted as i didnt realise how bad it was in the corner behind the headlight.. Must of been bad and the covered over, which as just made it so much worse. So my rule is if it rustey remove as my can you can and replace.
Worst bit, looks like it was patched and filled, but water has got in badly.

Lol you should read my mig one, lot more in it and a few extra years... Thank you very much, ill be at Castle Combe, PVS, VBOA @Billing, Retro rides
Now on the drivers side behind the mount, theres a kinda dip. With my air pipe on your couldn't see it, but it was untidy and would pool up with water. We all know that isn't good... So i wanted to fix that as there will be no air pipe over the top...
Out with the CAD.

Now before someone says it, yes there is a small gap right by the mount. But this will be fixed when the engine is out as i need space to get in there more.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2430_zps234b697b.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/bennh/media/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2430_zps234b697b.jpg.html)
Under this plate, i've also tagged the back on the mont to the chassis leg. Just for added strength.
Then i use this, i use it on the under side of my metal work, then over the top too. Helps with rust/bare metal and that.

Great work bud, looking forward to seeing the finished article!
lol Me too.
I've picked up some flexi tube so my wing vent finally does something, then will feed the box the filter will be housed in. Then the extra air from the front will be good. Well i hope.
Cheers Si.
I'd feel bad chopping up nice paint, but I know it doesn't phase you! New changes are going to make it even better, have I missed how you are waterproofing the AFM if it needs it?
Needs a must...lol afm and filter will be boxed in to be kept dry, with two air feeds.

Didn't the early courtney turbo conversion stick the afm under there somewhere and they wrapped the afm in a inner tube??
It will be interesting to see how the afm turns out. Good work so far.

Yea, think it would of run the same way... Just i dont want the filter on show...
Small update.
Been in the garage.. Grind, weld, grind, fill, sand... Repete. :( Sick of it.
Started by welding the other side of the leg tube, then filling the small cut away at the top. (and the small hole) My welding isn't the tidiest tho)

No? I was getting alot of brown dust when welding, i think my reg is a bit dodgy. As some times its ok and i get a much better weld.
It all holds strong, think it's work going over the top? Or a flat plate over the top for extra strength?

Thanks for your help Dan
One main reason for this was my leaking sump. It leaks alot.
Got a spare sump, checked it and had it machine flater. As i dont wanna have to do this again, it was then dropped off for chroming.
They had a few probs when chroming it sadly.

Fins where ok, it was the rest. Not happy with the sump at all, sadly i think they rushed it. Even tho it was there for a few months. I hope my steering rack looks better...
Please do, the car might not look it's best for PVS, but i'll try. IT will look much much better at Billing and Retro Rides.
But yes please do come find the car and me and have chat and a lookie... Thank you very much too :) I just want things done right and it annoys me when things arnt.
You shouldn't be too hard on yourself mate we all have other things in life we like to spend time on not just the novas! The amount of hours we've put in over the years has been a hell of a lot so nothing wrong with chilling for a bit. I feel we're both running out of functional ideas and motivation! My idea is to do very little for some time but just drive and enjoy.....
Nick.
I just see things i dont like and it really bugs me. Then it comes to it and there's much better stuff on tv to watch.. hahaha So over the winter i just couldn't be arsed tbh.
Still a few jobs i'd like to do, but they are more long term ones that small quick jobs.

The stainless bolts aren't doing you any favours on the sump because you'll never get them nipped up as tight as HT without shearing. The most likely issue is not having the bolts short enough, so it seems like they're tight when in fact they're just bottoming out.

Hhhmm didnt think of strenght over steel over stainless... Lenght wise they are correct, M6x25 (iirc) they are 5mm sorted than the org ones due to the single gasket set up. This lengh down bottom out...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2523_zpsb3d912fc.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/bennh/media/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2523_zpsb3d912fc.jpg.html)
Started with fitting the turbo. Why? Cause everyone loves a turbo!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2524_zpsed39d3a7.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/bennh/media/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2524_zpsed39d3a7.jpg.html)
Fitted my new oil line fittings. (yes the inner arches are very dirty... wait for it)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2525_zps21bdbdd4.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/bennh/media/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2525_zps21bdbdd4.jpg.html)
Then spent 10mins unwrapping my exhaust... Then over an hour refitting it as with new mounts it was very hard to get on. New rubbers where very hard.
Whole system has been repolished due to the sump leaking and baking it's self on to the exhaust turning it sh*te brown.

Up close...

My center mount has melted tho.. And it's a specialist one. So i've had to order one from Ebay.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2526_zpsd1005c02.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/bennh/media/Car%20updates%20June%202011%20on/IMG_2526_zpsd1005c02.jpg.html)
MY inner arches are dirty, cause i've done a temp paint job on the filter hole and welding. Just till i can get some 3M sealant to do it properly. So the arches will be cleaned but needing a re do...

Brilliant progress and dedication!! Hope to see the car on Sunday and I'm sure it'll look great even with the small scratch ;)
Not long until Sunday lol
And there's me putting off the fitting of sound deadening and electric windows! Benn, you put some of us to shame!! Astounding, nothing short of it.
Benn! You are a new kind of the adrenalin hunter with the deadline restaurating :D

Utterly mad! Whip an engine out just days before PVS - this is proper stress territory! Hang in there Benn!
Still cracking on...
Found my filter pipe wasn't a good seal. I had an off cut so i've added it on, got it as centered as i could then tacked it on. Then welded both sides up.

Messed about, with alot of taking off and refitting... Remade my bonnet cable holder, found it didn't work. Went back to the first one as it works.
Started fitting the coil. Can't have it where i wanted as it will be in the way of everything...(started to get annoyed) So moved it, fitted the header tank. Dont like it where it is...(getting more annoyed) But it will have to do for the mo i think.
Piped up the header tank. Things dont think, more annoyed.
So i thought i'd put more of the front up together..

So car now runs, but is idling a bit lumpy... Reving a bit funny and would stall under load.... Que lots of head scratching.
On to sat, day before the show...
I changed the AFM to see if that helped... No.
So tried a spare ECU... and it fixed it.... We think the alt fire must have damaged the ecu.... So i drove to PVS running PH2.

Thank you Sir, never again. I had to take it apart to re do bits now..lol
Indeed hats off for making it in time. Well impressed!
Thank you, same as above tho.
The story didn't end there tho.....
_________________________________________________-
So with the PH2 ecu fitted and running ok, i took it for a test drive around the block.. All drove ok, pulled well, boosted ok. Now this is 3pm on SAT...
Back on the drive, i washed the car and gave it a quick clay. Loaded the car up and left for PVS.
So i went for a lap around the block, which is maybe 1/4 of a mile... To meeting Sharon SR on the Motorway and following her at 80mph.
Think that's a baptism of fire...
All was ok, got to the hotel ok, left in the the morning, joined the normal queue to get in to pod. Was all ok till just after the camping area when i heard someone say "think he's boiled over" I look at the bonnet and see steam, look at the clock to see my oil pressure drop off to zero! F**k! I switch off right away.. Open the bonnet and all i can smell is hot oil and see it dripping fron box the cross member/gearbox.. Drop that point there is a big puddle on the floor! Luckily for me a few random guys help me push it on to the grass (big thanks guys.. Who ever you are) Dan has now come running to see what's happen.
The feed to my oil cooler has blown off dumping all the oil from it. The jubliee clip had broken and let go under pressure. Very handily there was one in the tool box we tool, fitted that and it held, put 4lt of oil in and it was ok.
Drove to the stand with no problems, drove home with no issues too thank god.
Another big thanks to Dan for helping me fix it.
Show was great, every time i came near the car there where people around it, looking at the box and such. Which made me happy, a few people said the empty bay
Two pics thanks to Johnny A.

Lucky you turned it straight off and heard people mention it, that could of been an expensive do. The car looked lovely on Sunday btw glad I got to look around it :)
What's the plan for the jubilees then? Can you get mikalor clamps in the size you require, would they be stronger?
I had my oil lines made up and properly fitted together by Pirtek once I knew the size.
Oh and there is a reason i went back to turbo rims.
I was featured on the official PVS 2014 t-shirts ( which you can still buy online) and after taking to Jamie at Tv i ran the turbos rims due to the t-shirts.. Which made me very proud to see people wearing them on the day and even more so when i was told they sold out by lunch time.
Which is here. (had one of my drivers seat thru the day....)

I replaced when at the show to two new wider clips from the guys selling the silicone. I think the first jubliee-clip had broken that's why it let go.. I would redo them, but the lines cost £67!

looks perfect benn you have done a great job I like the tshirts as well :)
Get one on order then... I wanna sell them out totally..lol
I bought a tshirt benn. :thumb:
when you fitted your loom through the bulk head hole, did you trim any of the pedal assembly down?
its on my to do list as it makes It too tight for me, plus it puts it more in the way of the brake pedal yoke/thing.
Yay good man!
We didn't no, but after looking at the pics i'm going too. I think getting a belt sander in there will be best, then the frame can be trimmed/rounded to give more clearance.
With cable ties holding it you can better clearance tho....
that's what my plan was. lol.

£67 is a quite steep for a pair of oil lines, but it's cheaper than a rebuild. You think the wider clips will hold up? If so, no worries.
Question:
How come its back on the cav turbo wheels? Not that I don't like them.
Answer:
Oh and there is a reason i went back to turbo rims. I was featured on the official PVS 2014 t-shirts ( which you can still buy online) and after taking to Jamie at Tv i ran the turbos rims due to the t-shirts.. As said Ben, and thank you, i do love the look with nothing on that side of the bay now :)
I want a spokey wheel too.....
I don't feel like i've done much since PV, been mainly driving it. Well i was then it started running badly again... At the MOT station. Best place for it too... But it past it MOT.. With just one advice that i'd done 60k miles in a year.... haha oh yeah i changed the speedo to try something out. Oops.
So took the car home and found the ecu was very hot... That isnt right.
Opened the ecu up,
These where in it... Meant to be gen chips, I don't think they are.

Wiper bits look smart, as does the roof. Must be smooth as a baby's bottom now yes? Can't give you +rep (need to spread first etc.) so have some :thumb::thumb::thumb: instead! :)

Love the attention to detail on this benn every time I think your finished you just keep finding things to improve love it mate
Thanks Niek, sadly i have running issues again....
Cheers Scorge. I'll always find things wrong with it...
Since the last up date it's all be trying to fix the running issue. Head scratcher isn't even the word, nothing seems to have worked ok it....
Everything has been tested, check, buzzed out for continuity and grounds, new sensors where fitted, even took the turbo out of the mix...

Parts swapped from Dan's GTE to mine... All with no affect or help.
I finally hung my head and gave up on taking the car to billing. A very hard choice. Spent the weekend saying to people "no sadly the car didn't make it.. Yes i've tried that x11"
Back home... Still no clue.
But when i had been under the car i noticed the power cable from the alt to started had got very hot when the alt seized (burning the ground loom out)
So i set about removing it and fixing it.
Oh, that's crispy...

While at Billing i saw this nice crimping tool, saw it at PVS and didn't buy it. But this time i saw the need as it can do battery/power cables...

Went though my box of cables/wire/wiring looms and found a nice bit of power cable from a Calibra. Chopped it out, cut a a lil longer than the Nova bit. Found my battery crimps...

Also had to spilt my alt, turn the casing as it was 90deg out of faze and if pushed to far it could spark to the inlet. Doing that means removing it. Out and in in 20mins.. But refitting i need a extra pair of hands...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20Updates%20July%202014%20on/IMAG0079_zps7557cc9d.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/bennh/media/Car%20Updates%20July%202014%20on/IMAG0079_zps7557cc9d.jpg.html)
Bungy strap held the alt up while i refitted the bracket...
All refitted, checked, nothing was hot, making 14v. All good.
Well still running ****e. So more messing about, while messing about trying to make it run right, the AFM was unplugged. All of a sudden the car started to run right.
So remove the AFM check its voltages again my spare.. All the same. Refit and try again... Car runs ****e. Unplug runs better. Could it be both my AFMs are dead?
Found one, buy it. Turns up and i try it...... Still the same! This was Thursday.
At my wits end now. Don't understand, what could it be.....
Sunday just gone there was a show at Beaulieu. Wanted to go, thought if needs be i'll drive with the AFM unplugged.
Start the car in the morning... Unplug the AFM and the cars dies.. Plug it back in and drive to meet Dan and Sharon... Car runs great. Drive to the show and it drives great.. Boosts nicely. Smooth and jerk free.
So it turns out... Well who knows. Maybe the ECU just needed a bit of time to see the afm was working ok.
At the show... A few pics...

I'm enjoying it for the mo. I'm hoping it was the AFM, but can't fully put that to bed. But it's still unfinished in there really. As it all needs painting fully and bits.

They are very cheaper made and coated, so yeah a wire brush will take the coating off. Give them a paint. And thank you.

Just get a rose joint kit
From what ive seen they arnt that easy tho...

24-10-14, 09:05 PM
If you've got a spare track rod end, take that to your machinist and ask him to make a pair of interference fit female sleeves for your knuckles. In fact, to ease explaining it to the guy just take your knuckles and ask if he can do you reverse taper inserts. Think Silly Martin used an adhesive combined with the press fit, but that could be overkill.
IMO rose jointing isn't the best solution since your modifying the knuckles in both routes; standard rod ends are not the weak link, the arms are. With that in mind O.E rod ends are cheaper and last as long. Combined with more castor, You'll know you're at extremes when you have to cut down the arms to get the ends on & aligned. (Nirvana)
You'll notice the difference straight away Ben. ;0
Ah that sounds good. Just want i wanted to hear really.
I'm hoping i will notice, it's one thing that's very annoying/bad in my car. Have you really had to cut your arms down in length?
BRoadGhost
25-10-14, 05:39 PM
It's right at the point where I should with twelve degrees of castor; you can't even see the thread on the arms anymore.
Difference is profound; I bet you've never clipped to inside of a round about before.
Guy at the last M.O.T was asking what's 'wrong' with the wheels when turning; maybe I should show him a picture of a single seater with some lock on :colonchin:

Mate have you ever thought about colour coding the bumpers, would look absolutely amazing.
Can someone photo shop it?
Please, was done years ago. Wasn't a fan..
Stripped a hub off yesterday. Took it to the guy i normally use, he doesn't have the tools. As he doesn't have reamers.
Talked to a different guy and his way is much better and more like how we've talked about above.
What he thinks, is make a tapered sleeve that will fit in to the hub, once the old tapered hole is drilled out. The sleeve can we pressed/glued it, but will have a top on it so will sit flush and be held in by the joint.
This way if i have a prob, i can remove the sleeve and swap it back to the top..
A pic to help.
Yellow is standard taper. Blue is where it will be drilled out too. Red is the new tapered sleeve.

The sleeve will have a bottom to it, so where the nut is it will have a edge so to speak, so when its done up the sleeve wont more at all. Plus it will be a tight/press fit. So it shouldn't more at all.

Fair play for getting these done quick Ben.
No doubt you will get asked for these now.
I was gonna pop in a see him today, hoping they'd be done. I'm hoping if i get a bit done tonight i can get these one refitted and get the other side stripped down.
Getting them made up wouldn't be a prob. Not that cheap tho, just due to the time machining them.

They're awesome Benn. Nice bit of machine work there. won't the collar on the sleeve reduce the amount of track rod end that goes thru the hub?

Me too, but as long as the angles are better then it should work.

They are rather tasty. With how far the threaded bit sticks thru the hub there is more than enough thread free.
That setup looks spot on... Should definitely see if he can reduce costs by machining up a batch for selling on.

Can never knock Benn for speed of progress can you! Consistent updates and progress. Just hoping one day he sell this and starts all over again so we have more materiel to read ;)

I dont think anything is ever finished where Benn's car is concerned. I've seen go over & re-do most things more than once. LOL
Never happy me...lol
In Truth, there are bits that have been done i wasn't happy with, either thought rushing or not done well enough/badly done at the time (in my eyes)
I tend to pick faults in everything.
Would be sacrilege to sell that benn, that said i could probably find room in my collection for it should you decide to sell :) Would probably have to find a new missus though lol

Hopefully it will work.
Great solution there Ben
You could probably make a few £££ by selling them
lol You dont know what this job has cost me.... If anyone else pays what i have i'll be amazed.

Mmm looks fine; he's taken more from the knuckle than Martin did on mine and the inserts required a press (+glued).
If the bill for inserts & knuckle machining exceeds £80 I would take issue; if they don't back down, I'd not use them again (tell him that too) assuming there's another machinist you can use.

Reading the comment two down, these are expensive! More than i thought.

Nope.

These will need pressing in from what i've tried this evening, They dont sit all the way in, get tight so must just wanted pressing in the last bit. Think it's worth glueing them in? I've been thinking out it this afternoon...
Its more than 80£.

Had a suspicion someone had latched on to the benefit as an excuse to start charging the earth. Keep this in mind always when you have the option to physically take the business elsewhere; imo don't even go into what it's for, in this instance just ask "can you reverse the taper on this pls & how much?"
Yes, I would get the epoxy in it too while you can.
I had to do it though two people sadly, So had to explain it all to the first guy who then put me in touch with the 2nd after talking to him.
Any link to the epoxy you'd use?
very nice benn! if a group buy was organised then id take a set.
Cheers, if that happens ill put your name down.
While the hubs have been away i've been doing a few bits. Found my battery tray had been welded/patched. Badly. Dan noticed you could see light thought it when he was under my dash... With a bit of grinding i cut the crappy patch out. This is mid job.

It was all cut out, cleaned up, rust treated, then i butt welded a bit back in so it would be flush and look better.
Sadly it had made a small hole on the underside too in the inner arch. So this was cut out too and replaced.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/Car%20Updates%20July%202014%20on/IMAG0643_zpsd232fc1d.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/bennh/media/Car%20Updates%20July%202014%20on/IMAG0643_zpsd232fc1d.jpg.html)
All done, etch primed and no re sealed with 3M sealant. I also took the chance to remove my "airbox" and seal all of that part of the arch as when i built it up in the summer the bodyshop didn't have any bag's of sealant i could buy. So it was painted and left... For now.
Sealant.

On the jack again.

Stripped the other side off, gonna drop it down to be drilled tomoz.
Gen me up on the 3M sealant?
Looks a lot like original?
Top effort!
Is a 2pac stuff in a bag,(bag has a join in the middle you tease apart and have to mix it all together in the main bag) meant to be sprayed (you buy a gun and spray with a compressure) is a rubberized sealant, so it take a knock or bang.. Nice and flexi but strong. Best stuff ive used (home or in the bodyshop, used ut there on all restos being painted underside)
Way better than anything gm use.
Not cheap tho. What i did there was most of a bag(worse when sprayed) get them them cheap at 18quid a bag.. via the body shop... Need a proper trade supplier to buy them from too...
10 stainless P clips came today, to hold the loom in the inner arches. Will make it all tidier.

As ever I always enjoy reading your build thread Ben and love to see your always keeping your Nova tip top, when a build gets to the highest standard though how do you keep the motivation going?
Have you thought of fitting cruise control to it btw?
How will you push the boundaries on this car on years to come to make it just that little bit even better ;)
Thank you very much, nice to hear.
Motivation wise, i fix/redo the bits i dont think are good enough. More of a needs a must, rather than wanting too.. in some cases anyway.
I have a cruise stalk fitted and all the bits, just nlt gone around to fitting the motor and bits.
