mowgli
08-05-15, 03:16 PM
Edd. you'll never, ever, ever change the mind of a committed labour voter. ever.... so don't try arguing it out.

I voted tory. our local tory mp is a good man, he is hard working, and well respected, and has done us well for 25 odd years. the other candidates were chimps in rosettes. they had ridiculous election promises that would never ever happen in my lifetime, and were rightly beaten. luckily for me, he ended up on the winning team.

mk1nova_rich
08-05-15, 04:31 PM
I voted Conservative, and I actually feel like I achieved something as we managed to boot Ed Balls out lol went up town at dinner and it was full of disgruntled Labour supporter. Too many people in Yorkshire (North in general, Scotland...etc) are stuck 30 years in the past.

What has Labour actually done for us? Oh yeh bankrupted the country, sold gold reserves at lowest price ever, sent us on two controversial wars, and opened the doors for cheap migrant labour to undercut the British.

Its not a party for the working man any more, and while I don't agree with all Tory policies I feel far better off under their government

Andy
08-05-15, 05:36 PM
I dont know who our local mp is.needless to say nowts changed.i was asked in polling station in the village hall last night if i wanted to vote for local too,i laughed and asked what the point of that was?
Theyve never done fukk all good.not even done anything at all actually.

Andy
08-05-15, 07:07 PM
Its not benefit blaggers is it you neanderthalic reprobate.
its the nhs police fire etc.
Labour may have let the immigrants in but are the tories sending the crim ones home who incite terrorism or thieve and rape etc?
No theyre giving them another home and three hot meals a day with free gym membership, free pool table and a job.
i have to work to play pool in pub and to go to gym.i also have to buy my own food.but yet they are inprisoned at hmp when they should be sent back.
three convictions (petty) and youre gone imo
serious like rape murder etc instant journey back.
Also do you honestly think the euro referendum is a good idea?
Oh aye we will be allowed nativities and to put england flags up at the world cup but wait to see how good it is when youre paying more for EVERYTHING cos of a vote out.
David Cameron is currently the most dangerous man in britain today.

Stuart
08-05-15, 07:25 PM
Its takes more than 5 years to fix 12 years of damage lol, I fact I reckon it'll take more than 10 years to fix properly, if its fixed at all.

The NHS needs a kicking, it needs to have a management cull, it needs to be the same across the uk, it also needs to be honest about what it will spend money on.... There have been cases where people are pissed off because the NHS wouldn't spend £100k on chemo that would add 6 months to the life of a terminal cancer sufferer. While its crappy they could spend a load less on morphine and get the same net result. Human life has a price and they need to make it very clear what that is, if I get dealt the same deal I'll take it.

Andy
08-05-15, 07:36 PM
its not so much that,i have friends and family in the nhs and they are overworked and underpaid.Their bosses have payrises and bonuses as fat penpushing muppets yet the frontline staff who deal with the stuff day in day out had their pay frozen for how many years????
Disgusting tbqh.
the damage is done by silverspoonfed public schoolboys who have absolutely no idea about the real world (whatever "party"((im not enjoying the party))theyre in)
Tory take for granted our policemen and women.our nurses, our firefighters, and every other tax payer. The best bit? if youre non dom then use all them services and live on our shores but contribute nothing. And fukktards like edd think benefits is the problem:confused:

Edd
08-05-15, 08:08 PM
lol jeez calm down

Edd
08-05-15, 08:11 PM
Plus if there is a need to cut £12bn from welfare I would say there is a problem wouldn't you?

mk1nova_rich
08-05-15, 08:12 PM
And Labour's answer to problems is throw money at it...usually money we don't have. The Tories have no choice but to make cuts to the public sector. When Labour were in they created thousands of unnecessary jobs in the public sector costing the country millions.

Why should public sector workers be guaranteed an annual pay increase? Private sector workers are paid according to the performance of the company. If the NHS was a private company it would have gone bust a long long time ago so really its employees are actually lucky. The management of the NHS needs ****ing up and down, but people seem to forget another major issue with it...the vast quantities using the service and not paying in. Admittedly no political party is showing any interest in resolving that.

Why would any high earners want to pay tax here? I know I certainly wouldnt, its ridiculously high

mowgli
08-05-15, 08:14 PM
ok.... i'm going to wade in there andy...

ever wondered why we have PCSO's...??? because the police unions were so militant that they wouldn't allow their members to walk the beat.... the govt came up with an alternative...
what about private prisons??? oh, yeah... militant prison officers unions banning all sorts of things so they needed so many staff that the prisons had more officers than inmates (1st hand experience as we worked for 9months of a year at the training college & had to rip out all the equipment as it got 'risk assessed'
fire brigade.... they pay them a full time wage for a 48hr 'watch' per week... this includes sleep, meals, etc... so they get paid for 2 days work.. ok, once every couple of years they have a massive dangerous fire to deal with, but the rest of the time they all earn cash from gardening or lorry driving (in our area) and every time the govt attempt to streamline it, they strike immediately, which is rich, as most of the time they are glorified lorry valeters... ps. they also went on strike in 2001 because of 911 and they found out what american firemen earnt...
NHS.. wards are run by women, and the bitchiness is rife... middle management are utterly useless, upper management are even worse... duplication of services is massive, GP's hold it all to ransom... frontline staff get the sh!t end of the stick all the time... it needs massive reform. all politicians know it, but they also know that anyone who tries to privatise any part of it is committing political suicide..
benefits & housing..... sadly, we are drowning under the cost of this... all the eastern europeans came over to work cos there are a few million people who simply can't be ar$ed to work, and get more than enough in benefits to cover their lifestyle... i know a bloke who hasn't worked for 25+ years... he was banging on at me about benefits & i told him 'i pay your wages! you should be round my house every morning asking me what odd jobs need doing!' i've never seen a penny in dole, i don't expect any... i've done tons of work on council estates... considering the unemployed have tons of spare time on their hands, they rarely clean up anything.

Stuart
08-05-15, 08:27 PM

Labour are like chavs, they only seem interested in big towns & cities, the country people have been hung out to dry so many times by them over the years that we don't feel represented by them. the lib-dems round here are all old hippies & teachers, and they really don't seem much use, so by default the tories won again

Labour have had plenty of chances and have always ****ed it up, they ain't a working class party in the slightest, they are spineless bunch of idiots reaching out to jobless benefit bums in an attempt to win votes. Offering to raise the minimum wage to £8 is retarded attempt to get voters, all that would do is lose people their current jobs and prevent employeers from taking anyone on. Not to mention it would hike the cost of living for everyone. Plus if they had the option they would of taken any deal possible for power probably bringing in the SNP and let's be honest here.... **** that!

Best party for the future of the country won hands down not a desperate party willing to promise anything and everything to get power so they can the send us into another recession and probably another pointless war. People whinging about the last term not been great, wake the **** up and realise it's because labour ****ed it, screw ups of that magnitude can't be fixed over night, we are coming out of recession and employment is on the rise. ummm they certainly helped with it..... they went and borrowed billions from banks to give to failed banks to save them.....
and this is after they actually lowered the banking regulators powers, which allowed banks to borrow way more than their previous limits compared to their asset holding....the tories had always kept strict limits on the banks... the exact same thing happened before the wall st crash in 1929, when british & american bankers convinced governments to limit the regulators powers & it proves that both history repeats itself, and politicians don't always listen.

the considered wisdom is that it takes £500 in parts, and about the same in labour to remedy this fault...
i got my trusty multimeter out & found no power going to the up & down solenoids, i pulled the control panel apart, and traced all the wires that could cause this... lo & behold, under a panel on the other side of the tractor was a mouse nest & they'd chewed thru some wires... 3ft of wire, a dozen crimp terminals, some tape & a new fuse..... total value about a fiver... my labour £30.... and it works like a new'un....

The GT4 not smoking quite as much as it did when I first took it out after the new rebuilt turbo lol

Should mean its not the turbo, thank feck. The front section exhaust has been replaced from a breaker, it had a good quarter inch deep layer of oil in it (that'll be why the car was broken then! lol) so should be just that being burnt off.

Had the old VW Lupo 3L rolling roaded at a renonwed VAG TDI tuner to see what the old girl is capable of after 300,000 km (187k miles). Despite burning oil like there's no tomorrow, the old three pot 1.2 litre diesel kicks out a healthy 62.1 whp, not bad for an engine that is supposed to produce 61 hp at the crank. The only thing lagging behind is the torque curve, which is a bit peaky for a diesel. This is said to be caused by a clogged up diesel particle filter. Good news then, because the DPF is to be removed this Tuesday. Torque ahoy! :d

my middle daughter has to design a 'trophy' for a school project.... she has drawn a shape of the side view of a 'racing car' and told me she has to cut it out of various strips of stainless steel & fix all the strips together to make it 3d... without her knowing, she has drawn a mclaren p1gtr shape, but with all the strips look like it is doing about 200.... so at least some of my car loving madness has rubbed off on her.... i'll post it up whan she has finished.... i expect lots of plasters & swearing, as she has never used tin snips before.

then tonight, i was heading home & there are some new plastic speed humps on the main road into town..... 3 of the hinckley krooze massive were out.... the lead is a rover 25/mg type thing in minty green with bad boi spoilers... he stopped dead, then crawled over the 1st one, followed by a 'stanced' golf & finally a rover 100 with the obligatory argos pea shooter backbox, fluid drained out of the suspension, and 2 occupants with their heads bobbing like a churchill dog toy.....

then they got to the second hump & i thought 'enough of this game of thrones' (but with 3 dozen swear words added) and i used my L200 for what its meant for, and did the other 4 speed humps at exactly 30mph and headed home...

and the govt (and guardian readers who still wear clarks shoes, even though they aren't in junior school any more) wonder why sales of 4x4's are still on the increase!!!!!!!

the farm where my brother lives (and our firm is based) is where our uncle lived & farmed since the 1950's. me & my brother have been connected with the place since the early 70's. its odd really, but we know every bit of the place and after 40 odd years, we still love it. as far as we are concerned, it is the finest place in the world.
i know we are biased, but i genuinely get a buzz when i drive towards work in the morning & turn the corner into the valley.
i was haymaking on friday evening & i have not been as happy in my work for a very long time. the place is genuinely beautiful. there are deer, hares, buzzards, and plenty of other wildlife.

well today, we competed in the local hinckley soapbox derby.... and having built a completely new wheelie bin based racer, using the morgan 3 wheeler as inspiration, we survived!!!!!!

i didn't win, but with a budget of £10, and a lot of skip diving, i wasn't expecting miracles, especially when mira, triumph, nissan & jaguar apprentices were entered... i was happy that me & youngest daughter made it down the hill 3 times each. even though on her 1st go in anger, she got to the chicane & nearly flipped it twice in the space of 10m... when i got to her, she said 'you said not to use the brakes until the finish.. i'm going to next time!!!' lol

so following on from my holiday....... (see what pissed you off thread)

we came to dismantle our refugee village..... and were in the throes of dragging most of my trailer tent to the large biffa bin, when a lady walked over from the other side of the field, and said ' would you like our tent? we've only used it twice & after the weather we've had, we've decided that camping isn't for us. if you don't, we'll be binning it'

as they say... one door closes & another opens...

so having thrown away most of the innards of a trailer tent, we became the proud owners of a really posh 6 berth tent that cost someone a good few hundred quid... and helped the lady dismantle it all so we have a clue how to put it back up again....

so we had a massive cream tea & left devon happy.....

Anyway, well chuffed with how I've already had 4 offers - out of the blue. One through word of mouth, one from someone working at a competitor of my current employer, one through Monsterboard and one through LinkedIn. Things are definitely looking up.

Being a blood donor, I get regular checkups of blood pressure, pulse and iron content (hemoglobine I believe it's called). Person in charge of testing me said "your pulse is a bit low at 52 bpm, do you do a lot of cardio training?" I: "errr no, I like to work out as little as possible". He: "well in that case you might want to have a doctor check you over".

Been made redundant at work last month. Now the phone doesn't stop ringing from employment agencies who want to have me over for a chat. Things are definitely looking up. Goes to show that putting up your CV on Monsterboard and LinkedIn does actually work.

Been trying to buy this bit of land next to my garage for 4 months and can't find who owns it, so I asked my neighbour if she was ok with this and she said it's better than the dead bushes!! Result!!! Gonna lay some slabs down when I get 5 minutes!!

As good as that sounds, I think it would be more satisfying waking up at 11am knowing it wasn't your day off...

Doing what?

Doing a 15 hour shift delivering in Edinburgh (from Durham) made me happy today, A1 closure/diversions, roadworks and rush hour traffic are just what I really enjoy being in for 3 hours at a time!

Been asked to attend a job interview next Thursday same job I'm currently doing with the possibility of a 5k a year pay increase and a healthy bonus system that could pay out between 30-50% depending on targets being reached ... I meet the targets at my current job and still get home before 3 most days, so mega happy

Been a good few days, Friday, mate handed his notice in at work, although I got feck all done Friday because the boss shat himself that he's going, in the long run, means more work on site for me, meaning more overtime.

Then Saturday, took the MG for its MOT and for a 12 years old car, kept up the tradition of passing 1st time!
