I've not really looked into how ac power works but today I got my Vespa horn working. Years ago I tried dc and it blew the fuse as both contacts on the horn have continuity to each other so today I put the earth to one and ac 12v to the other and it worked

Nothing worst than vespa electrics. Ive got a smallframe 100 that years ago I put a beedspeeds 12v loom in with pk stator/flywheel. Everything worked fine til I hit the kill switch and the full 12v shot up my arm.

Oh dear. You were robbed. Wrong thread.
I've not really looked into how ac power works but today I got my Vespa horn working. Years ago I tried dc and it blew the fuse as both contacts on the horn have continuity to each other so today I put the earth to one and ac 12v to the other and it worked
12v ac is simply a voltage wave going from +12v to -12v very quickly... 12v ac would make a horn vibrate wildly(which is what a horn does to make the noise) but the only way 12v dc would blow a fuse is cos the 2 contacts were shorting, which meant the horn was either knackered or damp
Nothing worst than vespa electrics. Ive got a smallframe 100 that years ago I put a beedspeeds 12v loom in with pk stator/flywheel. Everything worked fine til I hit the kill switch and the full 12v shot up my arm.
12v up your arm wouldn't do sod all.. 9v off a battery on your tongue only makes it tingle a tiny bit... if you short an ht ignition circuit, you'll be getting something more like 9000v (but a microscopic current) so its like an electric fence. it hurts, but its not actually dangerous.

I got my coilovers today and fitted them along with my speedlines after work. So im happy, just need to sort my power cap out so I can take it for a spin
I'm house sitting in Winchester with my other half at the mo. So i have to come home in the morning to pick up my work van, so i'm using the Nova all week. Been a while since it's been a full daily driver.
But you know what? i'm frigging loving it!!
Is only about 20miles each way, but at 7am the back roads i use are nice and quite so i can just rip dow them. Lots of boost a few hand brake corners too.
Best bit is im getting great mpg too.. hahaha
But the other morning i had to drive home, wash the car before putting it in the garage and going to work... As the whole front was covered in bird sh*t. There must of been a whole flock in a tree.. Wasn't happy!

Went out for a drive up to Matlock Bath in the Spider. Weather was great so had the roof down. Parked up on the front where all the bikes park, god knows how but I managed to get a space straight away.
It attracted a bit of attention from passers by :)
Carried on over to Ashbourne on some great roads and stopped at a nice pub with the wife for lunch. Got back to the car and it would not start lol I think the starter is duff. Luckily I had parked at the top of the carpark so stuck it in reverse, rolled it back down the hill and bump started it :)
Go it home OK to find a guy parked on the front in a VXR8 with £400 in his pocket for my spare front splitter left over from when I had the 888 :)

2 days in Chicago, 5 days in Vegas & then 3 days in Washington.

Planning on visiting the muscle car museum in vegas & also one of the shooting ranges out there that have a Barrett sniper rifle. Ride in a yellow cab & obviously "follow that car!", get a photo with an America copper, play atleast one slot machine, eat 20oz steaks, drink piss water beer & generally try not to die flying home on September 11th :/

Trip to Upullit in the nova for a nosey, and found three combo's, there werent any last time i went, came back with a roof lining and sunvisors, and A pillar trims complete with all clips and screws, and a headlight switch for front fogs, all for £8.00 +vat :d
Getting a new tyre fitted to my sr! It puts it back on the road so well chuffed :d
i sorted our trusty old dumper truck today, it had been royally abused by various staff members who think the magic trade-in fairy is getting us a new one...it had its steering column pulled out of the steering box, shagging the column & the steering box seal in the process, its been thrashed from cold, with no attempt at cleaning any muck off it, and its aircooled, so one of the heads blew a gasket.
so i rebuilt the steering, fitted a new replacement column i found for £70+vat, when the genuine ones are more like £300
pulled the blowing head off, cleaned it up, fitted a new head gasket & shims!!!!, if you want to see a crazy engine, look at a lister
took all the outer panels off, straightened them by hitting them with a digger, put them back on..
used the gas on the drawbar to straighten it cos the digger couldn't reach.
sawed the tailpipe off the exhaust cos someone flattened it..
so our pile of [s]crap is now worth several grand & ready to go out on hire again.
like TJ once said, i really need to get a copy of the 'A team' music for when we get spannering.. i love workshop saturdays
32 miles with the retro boys round the don river in doncaster, start point was the prison so we entitled the ride 'Escape from Doncatraz' lol

I don't know how people can drink that stuff...
if i knew then what i know now i wouldnt have.
utter chemical junk
Yeah, reading the can says alot. My mate drives 4-5 large cans a day...
i've been decaf for several years.... and that included hgv driving... needing caffeine is another myth
Just don't go cold turkey unless you want what is the roughest hangover ever for a week lol
Did a 24km ( or 15mile for old people) hike, not bad for the first crack at distance walking before doing a hill in Scotland later in the month. Got heel blisters though lol
i hope you didn't get convinced to buy ridiculously sturdy hiking boots?? the sort that old codgers wear when going round the park with their ski poles...... they cause tons of suffering & misery until you have toughened up... they are like the catholic church of boots
So the £500 heavy leather boots were a mistake then?
So the £500 heavy leather boots were a mistake then?
Not if they were thy high... ;)
and people say png is not the forum it used to be........lol lol lol....
So the £500 heavy leather boots were a mistake then?
i hope you really didn't lol lol
think of it like this... what shoes do you wear all the time? i'm guessing soft & flexible ones that you can spend maybe 12 hours in them without needing a rescue helicopter, so having comfortable shoes that happen to have a bit of grip on the bottom sounds to me like a good idea, as opposed to something as bendy as a ski boot
I did, the shop said so....
hmmmmm...
i was on the support crew for my mate to do the 3 peaks challenge last year. he had massive blisters several weeks before the event trying to get used to his boots.. i told him to smash several shades out of the heel with a hammer to soften them, but he didn't.. he was in agony for ben nevis & scafell pike & we ended up not even managing to do snowdon, cos he was in so much discomfort..
i can wear a pair of hard boots with no trouble, cos i've been wearing boots every day since about mid 1995, yet i wouldn't put a pair of them on & use them

Damage doesn't mean a cat b write off, a small scratch would be enough to warrant a claim.
Seem to remember a thread on here about a cyclist hitting an open door just recently too, but you are right there probably wasn't any damage.

I watched a guy on a racer hit a Ranger Rover, bent his handle bars and put a nice big dent in to the RR's boot... Owner wasn't happened and threated to cut his face off..

Snap lol mine did on Friday. Would definitely never go back to having anything GM as a daily after having this A4 also.
Sat with a coffee channel hopping and found an old episode of 'The Bill' put it on as theres not much better on, and in a min or so saw a red nova SR overtake the car theyre driving on the motorway, followed by a twelve door saloon which amused me as i spotted them straight away!
Then properly Lol'd as the car theyre driving started overheating so they had to pull over before it broke down, and as they pulled off the motorway a mk2 astra passed them, follwed by a mk2 cav that looked to be an SRi....
And the car they were driving, P reg escort lol
Only 24 hours untill major operation on foot

Well that's bull****... Bench press is one of the 3 major compound lifts, and for anyone who does weight training it's a must, granted some people don't won't legs as much but they don't belong near a gym.

Im well aware it is.And how important it is.
However, its cock waving byople boasing about what they lift in the pub or on the internet etc. Most posers will add weights and then check to see if anyones looking, they will probs do 3/4 rep sets with said weight, then get off, appear to be gasping for air, stop, look to see if anyones watching and then tense in the mirror.
****ing w4nkers.
I have seen that in various gyms across different areas.
I have seen lads get to gym,do 3 sets of bench press on a Friday night as im leaving, then get ready for a night out in changing rooms so they look pumped.
Pathetic
And dumbbell presses are much better as it takes more to hold the form, thus it being more effective. But then you don't look as good doing them as the dumbells aren't usually in the "big man area"

Now i went last night, it seemed to be very busy with poser like people. Alot of guys lifting heavyish weights in front of the mirror, which annoyed me as i wanted to lift what i do. Then i noticed alot of them where doing a max of 5 reps.. Once guy was watching me as i do 10 reps, then jump up 2KG, 10 reps then down one KG, 10 reps then up 2more KG, till my muscles burn, so i do an intense workout so to speak..
When i moved away, i could just see him. Still with the heavier weight, do his 5 reps. Then stand a flex (he wasn't big enough to flex) in the mirror while looking in my direction. I couldn't help but laugh.
The ones who ya see sat on their phones there in particular.

Girl and guy next to me on the bikes where both on facebook the whole time... But i was watching Top Gear while on a bike tho.. hahaha
Watching stuff is ok,there were tellys on the cross trainers at my gym.
I just done see the point in going if ya gonna just text away the whole time ya there.
LOL at the flexers. Its things like this that make it intimidating for new members etc imo.I wish I could've filmed this melt a few weeks ago on a lat pulldown machine, him and his very impressionable mate spent an entire hour on it for some reason.

I came across a game at a car boot sale that I use to have as a kid. HeroQuest. I had a look at it and walked off, I looked on ebay to see the cheapest one on buy it now for £50 so I went back and asked how much they wanted. He said "10p" so Had to have it really. I started looking at it and it turns out its pretty much all there and there is and extra add on game with it. One of the men are broken (iv just glued him back together) the red dice are missing and 1 little card scenery pice is missing. Just looked on eBay and the £50 one sold today.

They are a doctor at work. I know the head of security very well and he has asked them to contact him but won't pass me they're contact details until he has questioned them. The hospital CCTV playback is very sophisticated, if you select a zome in the frame it only shows you motion through the zone. Also, when u mark a target it checks all CCTV camera footage and plays back all matches. Due to the good quality picture I can see the car arrive and zoom into the undamaged region then zoom into footage later and see the newly acquired damage. We can also follow the member of staff as they travel from the car around the hospital and burn it to disc.
If they don't fess up the police will be called and evidence passed.
let the fun begin....
oddly enough we are up to siomething similar at the moment, we are chasing up some kid at my eldest daughter's school, who decided that he'd nick her bike... he was also excluded at the time & was not even meant to be on the premises.. the cctv is 100% clear, but he claims it wasn't him & won't tell us where he has the bike.. the old bill are on it..
