I can do £200 on an all dayer myself lol
throw in a gold ring & a suit from george & you're well on the way.....
/\ any drop in wages though??
As I currently do 4 on 4 off I can do 2 days overtime a week which will drop to doing 1 every other week max. But the basic stays the same and I can afford to take a bit of a drop. Also I will learn more on days as I don't exactly do alot on nights.
Not quite "today" more of this week. I got one referral on my qualified tech assessment. Pleased with that! It's a tough course with a 7% first time pass rate, So I'm pleased with my one referral. No more studying for a bit, a drop in productivity and more wages is also a bonus :)
Feeling better for the 1st time since last weekend.
Found a cd in the cupboard under the stairs, banged it on and its a good old bounce set!!
Free sky hd upgrade to include Sky F1 channel and 3d channel, they are running scared from BT giving away free premier football, but I'll take a nice wee freebie :)
Nice one john.well done!
Ta mate, hope you're feeling better soon :thumb:

what are engine rebuild negotiations???
when i blew my first engine up, with no previous experience, i took it out, stripped it, sent stuff off to the engineers, fetched it & put it back together.....in my bedroom!!!! engines weigh very little in bits, but they are sodding heavy when built lol lol

Cleaned both my van and my nova, then trail fitted three of my bikes in the back of the van with the rear seats up, ive only ever chucked one or two bikes in so far, and was unsure if i could fit three or four bikes in, plus two rear passengers, the result is yes, with the wheels dropped out ill definately get three in and probably even four, plus passengers :thumb:
Three bikes in there with room to spare

Been karting today!
Against the advice of my physio and mrs etc 'cos my backs fooked, I have a slipped disk
But I filled myself up on strong painkillers and went for it anyway lol, and came 3rd out of 14, which included a pro, and a guy who races ginettas!
tbh I think it fixed my back as I feel better for it! Either that or I'm still full of drugs, once they wear off I may be crippled lol.
I'll let you know via this thread or the "what p1ssed you off" thread lol

Started a new job yesterday delivery driver (Drayman) for a local brewery called Sonnet 43 (literally a 5 minute walk from my door) after 6 months unemployed but yesterday was just a gentle breaking in day collecting empty casks which they needed back to wash and re-use, today was out in the van again with the head brewer delivering fresh stock to pubs, so far so good just gotta remember to keep my back straight and lift with my legs as a light cask is 50kg and sometimes you cant park near the cellar door (have a sack barrow for long walks) a heavy cask is 120kg but as of yet we don't use them.
I think I could enjoy this job.

Thankfully not, unless I need to go into town etc got rid of my 306 when I was working my last job as it needed too much work doing, shame as I loved it but got half my money back when I scrapped it.
Another Nova might be on the cards in a few months though depending what money is like, would be a V6 obviously after seeing what Jed's Corsa can do and Dave/Linden Dixon (Griffin autosport) being close by for parts and help, makes sense.

Doing a water pump on my 525TDS, which after assuming it would be a nightmare because everything is very tight for space, is an absolute joy to work on. The fan shroud has 2 clips in it and then slides out without even being a pain against the fan, the vac operated grill behind that is just as easy, the tensioner was a simple case of unbolting it and swinging out of the way because it's a little spring damper unit, the water pump had 2 threaded holes in it to push the water pump out of the block, everything looked brand new in there because BMW spec proper coolant for their cars, and everything was well designed to be removed and replaced, with proper O ring seals!
So far removed from your average modern/cheap/french cars (or worse, all 3)!
Only downside was the fact it had to be done in the first place because some tightwad bodger chucked on the cheapest pump he could find with plastic fins at some point in it's past!

Lost clutch action lol so once started I can't select any gears but when gears selected then started is goes in that gear so 2nd gear until I reached a hill switched off select 3rd roll down hill and start and 3rd gear home
you start off in third, rev it slowly to about 2000, let off the throttle and pull it out of gear, then into 2nd. it will go in. then repeat up to a decent gear. on the way down, you let off the throttle, pull it out of gear, blip the throttle to put about 500 extra revs on & slide it intothe next gear down..
its how people used to do it before synchros came along.
of course, traffic lights & reversing still cause a problem

ffs man up.... i drove a sprinter thru the middle of london from the m1 to the m23 via an industrial estate behind kings cross station[google map it!!!!] with no clutch.....
start in 1st, build some revs & then pop it out of gear, and count '1 elephant' then ease it into 2nd.. then to 3rd, 4th etc.... its amazing what you can do when you need to..... for changing down, you need to pop it into neutral & blip the throttle, then change down.... ok, it takes some effort when approaching junctions & traffic lights, but it is totally possible

Got the keys to our new house, decided it was a good time to buy rather than wasting all my money on my cars. Mortgage is less than our current rent and only moving two doors down so should be easy.
House needs quite a bit of work and modernising, pictures are a little deceptive. House is pretty much empty now.

i have never seen sweetcorn on a cake before but looks like a healthy option to get one of my 5 a day.
the traditional method is to use 2 pints of cider & 1 packet of cheese & onion crisps..
ps. the 5 a day thing has absolutely no basis in science, it was created as a marketing ploy in america to try to sell more veg.... it came over here & has been accepted as the troof by nearly everyone without a single scrap of evidence...a bit like the 8 glasses of water thing.. the bloke who came up with that also stated that most of the 8 glasses of water would be consumed with normal food & drink consumption....

Finding out the reason i lost my epas/temp gauge/speedo and gained a battery warning light in the van last night, was not a second failed alternator, but merely the bracket bolting the old DTi ecu to the back of the inlet manifold had snapped, hence the ecu losing its earth connection and switching off!

Many American beers are actually excellent, just the mainstream stuff we get fed over here makes you believe they can't make beer at all.
The American single and double ipa's tend to be fantastic. Try the one in tescos (actually brewed by brewdog but to a Yankee recipe)

not to sound like a folk singer, but i was around when the true king of beers was still being brewed, and not the slightly iffy stuff they claim is the same.... yes, ruddles county... we used to mount missions to find pubs that sold it & served it properly..
i had the great misfortune of being a right lightweight in my teens, but the good fortune to work at what was, at the time, acknowledged to be the best real ale pub, with the largest number of keg beers, in the whole of england.. people used to book the b&b's in the area to come & spend a weekend there, just to drink all of them.... i built up a pretty good tasting knowledge of beer, but couldn't handle any great quantity of it.. i'm not much better now...
i agree about the yank stuff from my odd visits over there, i wouldn't use bud to wash piss off a floor... we did a test when we were out at restaurants & every time a bud turned up, for the mrs (raised there & thinks its nice), it actually tasted different.. it is brewed in dozens of different places, but it was still pisswater.. the other problem about foreign beers over here, is that they are usually brewed in some anonymous shed and blended to what they think we will prefer to drink.. which is why a lot of beer tastes the same, cos it is the same.. i'm a great fan of local small brewers, and the hard work they put in.
