I ain't never going to find another unskilled job for £29k, so I'm stuck watching fruit juices go down the production line for life
For 29k i'd happily watch your fruit juice go down the production line! Continental shifts suck balls though, been doing them for 5 years .... makes for a severely grumpy bsatard at times apparently lol
managed to get stick a single loose wire from a wire brush clean through the top of my thumb
Wait til its ones from a wire cup brush on a 4" grinder! lol

Those get every where, as i learnt when removing underseal from the nova.^
LOL @ phone setting...
That amused me too, the setting for my phone when i was at school was the 'mobile phone' as we know it today, didnt exist, pay as you go and accessible phones were invented when i was at college lol
I remember a bloke from the Pru coming round to survey some building work we were about to have done in our new house in about 96 and he had one of these, i was awestruck as it was so small

Oh I'm grateful that I earn that amount and realize I'm also lucky, hopefully wasnt sounding a coont there, lol it's just a bit boring, but I guess you can't have everything,
I have a new role at work starting soon so that will keep me going for a while longer
After 16 years of factory and warehouse work it would nice to do something that I'm remotely interested in tho, guess I'm too old to go down that road now
And yeah the shifts do make me grumpy lol

Edd - Didn't sound coontish at all. I completely understand, more to life than standing scratchin your **** for 12 hours a day like a fooking robot. We don't even have a window to look out of lol
I have came to the conclusion that I just want to earn as much as possible for as little time and effort as possible, most jobs become as pointless and boring as each other eventually.
Yeah no windows at my place either, next week when I'm on days, I will arrive when it's dark, and leave when it's dark, won't see daylight for 2 days!!! lol
But I'm the same just trying to earn as much as possible as won't be able to do 12hour nights for ever, probably e able to clear the mortgage quicker if I wasn't caining money on the Sport tho lol

Cheapest place I found was a place in Ilkeston, I think it was called Ilkeston Ply & DIY. Got 11x sheets of 18mm 4'x8' MDF for £100. Slight seconds but not a great deal wrong with them and perfect for what I needed.
His Dad runs a timber yard opposite & he is cheap too, saved me £20 over the same stuff from Harlows.
got to a building site to collect some thermalite blocks(building type thing) for a friend of my brother who bought them off the bay... i'd been warned about a path edging that might need a bit of wood putting against it.... so the edging was there.... and it was set on concrete, and was 450mm above the ground... so my wagon wouldn't go over it without damaging it & my wagon....
the job was rated at £160, and a rough guess put the damage to building materials at £120 and the wagon at £2k if i drove over it, so 2 people needed a bollocking & nobody got any building blocks.

are you not getting the energy savings mixed up with the water savings, of a shower vs bath, as i dont think Ive heard of a shower saving money over a bath, especially when you look at the cost of electric over gas, i can easily see why a bath would save money over a electric power shower
just never feel as clean after a bath as a shower, mind you i do have to bathe every now and then to rest what ever injury's Ive inflicted on my self during a normal working day lol

1. like fcuk does the severn trent region need to save water.... its not like we are short of it
2. running 8-10kw of power shower for 5-10mins costs a hell of a lot more than running a combi boiler on warm to run a bath for 5-10mins. there was an energy saving phone in on the radio & lots of people found out the cost difference was quite a shock..

if you have a gas hob its cheaper to boil water on that then a kettle aswell, a kettle uses between 60 and 80p a hour, I'm looking at getting a old skool kettle for my hob doesn't take anymore time to boil either
a kettel that uses 60p a hour, 4 cups of tea a day, around 3 mins to boil adds up to over 40 quid a year! shocking when you think about it and do the math
We have a hob kettle and mains one, the hob one definitely takes longer to boil with the same quantity of water, even on the baad ass ring of the hob lol
Not timed it to work out the difference but I know that the gas is 3 times cheaper per KWh than the electric.

you can get gas tumble dryers aswell, whether the cost of fitting and maintenance out weighs the savings i dont know, but that could prove to be a massive saving over the normal electric tumble dryer that normally uses coming on 90p a hour :O
everyone that wants to save money and is willing to make these kinda changes will love the smart meters I'm fitting, its priceless information knowing exactly how much money your using, the in home display updates its self every few seconds so as soon as you turn something on you will see the running cost of it, amazing stuff

Yep, because it's gentler on the skin than a shower and as they'll be in a baby bath seat, they'll be lying back (just in the water) so you don't get soap/shampoo in their eyes.

Driving a 200 mile round trip to collect some wheels I had bought on Ebay to find them only fit for scrap! Cost me £30 in fuel and a morning wasted for sod all, tosser!
I asked if there were any marks or damage and if they had been refurbed, he said they were not refurbed and were in excellent condition apart from a 20mm mark on one wheel which was hardly noticeable. Well the mark turned out to be a 3" long chunk taken out the rim after someone had used the wheel as a brake against a kerb stone. Every wheel had clearly been refurbed as all the paint was peeling off and each one had corrosion appearing all over them.

Then get on You tube and look at how you can get yours to power up and back everything you can up onto an external hard drive.
Hi Keif and thanks for that however Im unsure If Sony would want to know as I didnt buy the unit new so have no receipts/warranty and so on.
Nick.
I couldn't remember where I bought mine, plus my warranty ran out in 2009. I replaced mine no problems, they also told me to look on You Tube to find a fix to power it up and not worry about the warranty sticker.
Let them decide if they can help you, which i'm sure they would.

Sell?? Did you apply for one, or ask to buy one? lol
You just fill out the application, and provide a payslip showing that you are in t'trade. Careful with their seam sealer too. That brush on crap in the red and white (iirc) tin is nowt to write home about!

i dont work in the trade, so was trying to buy one but the tarts wouldnt do it, apprantly there kept in a safe :tard: and halfords are clamping down on them being given out
u-pol seam seal whats wrong with it?
Well you definitley can't buy a trade card. I know you work for BG, that may be enough. All you have to do is show them that you need and use their tools. That, or have a mate who works there. lol
That seam sealer cracks. Upol stuff should be decent though, so I may be wrong and it's actually the Halfords branded stuff I was thinking of. Either way, just FYI.
I purchased mine, for the cost of a maccy D's lunch lol
The discount is getting worse though :( Got some headlights for the passat the other day, it was only a couple of quid discount rather than being a couple of quid.
Definitley worse discount and worse tool choice. Hardly anything kept in stock anymore either. :( Still, better that nowt.
The last thing I remember getting for a decent price were own brand wiper blades and 5L of 5W30 semi synth for around £24. Recently though I asked for a price on a pair of mirror glasses for my mk3 Escort. I was pleasently surprised to see the own brand self adhesive lenses still on the shelf tbh. (Does anyone buy this stuff anymore? lol)
They were £12 each (much more than eBay) and when I checked the book, mine had to be ordered in. Trade discount? Zero. :/

VHT paint is a con.
how/why?
how/why?
If you want to use it on a cam cover, exhaust manifold etc it's a waste of time. Standard paint is fine for cam covers etc. VHT doesn't last on hot surfaces, so you may as well use standard on that too if you're going to paint them, imo.
Totally agree, vht paint is crap
I have painted my head and can carrier with hammerite smooth, done this many times before and never had it come off

07-11-12, 10:03 PM
Got a call today from my son's afterschool club lady, "is Nicholas coming to club today" she says, "Yes" i said "only i cant find him" she says! Not to worry she says, I'll go find him in the school.
I rang her back and got her voicemail, I'm starting to panic now...the she rings me back to say, "we've" found him" I'm like, sweet not problem.
When i get home, my wife tells me that my soms class was kept back after school and was let out late, when he was finally let out, the teacher lets him run off without checking that the afterschool club collector was still in the playground. my son checks the playground and cant see anyone so he walks out the school gates and walks on his own!!!! half a mile to the afterschool club. When he gets there the lady in there saw him waving but didn't realise he was on his own and trying to get in, so ignores him, my sons now gets spotted by a neighbour crying and asks why he isn't with the rest of the club? The rest of the club was still at school looking for him.
How the hell can a primary school just let him out late without checking the adult is still there to collect him. The afterschool club left the playground to go all the way round to the front of the school to ask reception where he was, because the school won't let them through the playground side.
I'm bloody fuming,
Major complaint needs to made, that should never happen!

"Santa have you insured your sleigh? If not, why not?...."
She then goes on to mention you can cover your motor. Santa doesn't have a motor, love. Hence not requiring insurance.
The worst of it though has to be the very thought that someone would claim from Kris Kringle himself, were they unfortunate enough to have a yuletide mishap.
The bloke goes out of his way to not only oversee (and I am sure on occasion, muck in) with his own in-house, bespoke manufacturing process, and then delivers the resulting products to each and every one of us, and all for free, and these rip-off monsters now demand he pays insurance - for roads he doesn't even use no less.

i worked for a school furniture/general joinery factory one winter when i was 19.. there was an edge planing machine that had a pipe fitting blow out of its quickfit coupler, so the machine wouldn't clamp the wood properly. so i grabbed a stanley knife, cleaned the pipe end up & refitted it. i reported it to the owner(a true pillock if ever i met one) & he gave me a verbal warning & told me to remove the pipe & wait for the engineer to come from cambridge, this was before the a14 was built, so it was 2 1/2 hrs before the engineer arrived & popped the end on........ the next week, i got a proper warning because the only qualified forklift drivers were out & i decided drive it myself to get a pack of board off the racking to keep production going so that we got the shipment out on time..... i properly fell out with the boss over that & it was the only time i ever worked to rule on a job.

Well fcuked off.
Bought myself an astravan. T reg. 1700tdi. Took it for a test run, everything seemed alright, pulled well, no knocks bangs etc. Needed a small bit of work, replacing a few bits like the headlights.
Now after some testing, I find out that the turbo is going, head gasket is going, it's drinking fuel like it's going out of fashion, has an oil leak somewhere...
The more I browse into the engine, the things I find that are wrong with it. Had a friend of mine in the trade have a look at it, and he has strongly advised me to find another engine in order to eliminate most of the problems this bloody thing has.
Winter coats in spring ftw! bodywarmer? lol Ahh I see stu, problem being I'm in a 1.6 diesel a1, ANY sort of manoeuvre has to be anticipated and fully planned lol just doing some training for work :)
I might stick the GoPro on the dash. Russian stylee.
