This bull**** electric aerial I fitted today - and not being able to find the correct arbor for a 20mm bi-metal hole saw. All of my drill bits live in one place, so where was it?! lol

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v698/ManorQuay/IMG-20130129-WA0001.jpg

It's a new Hirschmann unit (same as O.E) and claims to be a direct replacement.

Well that's nice. Except for the fact I couldn't line it up straight, the height of the thing reminded me of the lightning rod into Doc Browns flux capacitor, the base was massive, and the whole thing wobbled around like hell, plus the 'ratchet' thing that sets the angle against the bodywork sheared in half after I had operated it three times. Bloody eBay...

Fitted this one instead.

Same deal, new Hirschmann, but Ford branded, and it's manual. At least this is the right one for the car. :/

so, i was driving home down the A5. i passed a cyclist. ok. i gave him room & he was well lit, wearing hi viz. no trouble there.. as we approached a roundabout he was right behind me. he then turned his one & only really bright LED front light onto flash, and it was pointing straight at my mirrors... it was driving me potty.. so i slowed right down & opened the window so i could yell at him.. no response.. so i slowed down even more & let him alongside, & yelled at him to stop it.. nowt... so i pulled over, jumped out & grabbed his handlebars.. that stopped him.. then i told hiom that he knew fully well the light was both illegal & annoying the fook out of me, then simply pressed the button till it was on plain light, thanked him & drove off.

i really hate those flashing led lights, and especially when they flash in all 3 of your mirrors..

Least you saw him, that is actual assault btw and if youd have done that to me (i have strobing and fixed cree led lights front and rear on my bike) i wouldve sat you on your ar$e!

As a rider and a car driver i see both sides of the argument, but if his lights (which are not illegal btw) were annoying you, you shouldve gone a different way, stopped till he had gone, or speed up!

You do not have the right to get out and grab/stop/lecture any other rider/driver on the road, you are NOT a police officer, and WERE in the wrong in that scenario, i can only hope for the riders sake that he had a gopro and reports that!

he deliberately turned it to flash from fixed beam & it was set way too high.. he had ridden down 1 A road & onto another without needing it flashing, then when we were on a minor road in a slow moving queue, he chose to keep it flashing.. i asked him to do something about it, he chose to ignore me. it was flashing fast enough to be classed as a strobe light..

and i think you'll find that the law is that you can have a flashing light, but you must have a fixed beam light as the primary headlamp.

and the useless local cops are more than welcome round here, i was in a signwritten van & if they ring, i'll willingly speak to them.

and spud, when i ride my bike at night, i have hi viz on, legal lights & a helmet on. my kids do too, or i won't let them out on their bikes.

Id guess from that he had deemed you passed too close to him then and that was his way of protest, there is not much you can do as a cyclist when a car/van driver pisses you off, and then when you do something, and they try to intimidate you like slowing to shout at your or seemingly to corner you using the vehicle as a barrier, imagine what he was thinking, then to have you get out and give him a load of verbal, think about it from his side of it...!

the next time i see a two or three of them riding along in a line taking up all of the road (which is against the law) I'm just going to ram them off the road, where this entitlement comes from i will never know, but the majority of cyclists seem to believe they have a god given right to moan and bitch about everyone else like there saving the planet!

Needed both rear wheels off the Merc, to have new tyres fitted. Thanks to the Airmatic gubbins, it appeared to be trying to self-level and there's nowhere to put axle stands. Then when I came back, it was sitting on the deck, so I couldn't get the trolley jack under it without a clart on - not to mention I had left wooden chocks under the jacking points lol.

Then the Mondogs tailgate wouldn't close. Turns out the solenoid is borked. It has been a bit iffy for a while now.

Ever since Sir John Hall, once owner of Newcastle United, decided to claim the term Geordie as only having anything to do with NUFC (historically very incorrect), and invent the fictional 'Gerodie Nation', modern day 'Geordies' go out of their way to 'soond as styoopad' and OTT as possible.

Unfortunately, it reflects back on the rest of us in the surrounding areas.
95% of people on Tyneside live nothing like those fools. The city centre is nice, most surrounding areas are a dump!

Not to mention that apparently only two of the characters on this programme are from the area they claim. One is from Sunderland, one Washington (part of Sunderland), one South Shields (Sunderland) and one Middlesbrough by all accounts lol.

As for Made in Chelsea, surely a lot more of the population are pretentious rich kids like these seem to be? As it is a far more affluent area to begin with.

Or is that not what it is really about?

chelsea is a rich & very small area in london... this show is like an old porno but without the shagging... its all staged poolside/s****y nightclub(but with no music) & dialogue to make an insomniac keel over in seconds...

i thought geordies were more to do with mr stephenson & his coal & rail interests.. he created the town of coalville & staffed it with 'geordies'

for a minute, i thought you lived near me...lol

the kids are about, 4, 7 and 10

every week day without fail the dad leaves for work at 7, then at 7:30 it begins, "get out of bed you little fcuking sh!ts !!!" "i hate you lot" "wish you were never fcuking born" etc etc etc, then 45 mins of them screaming before she bundles them into the car, EVERY week day WITHOUT fail

no way would i be with a women that treats kids like that, its disgusting, im struglling to understand why you would put your kids through that on a daily basis?

its not any of our business really, but seeing as there is no cavity wall between us and them its making it our business, stud wall with soundproofing has already been priced up lol

but on a serious note i almost feel guilty not doing anything if the kids are actually being seriously abused

Spudly
10-02-13, 02:38 PM
Report it annonymously, they might seriously be at risk, doesnt hurt to get it looked into (not that anyone will do anything about it, they will just ignore it till she snaps and kills one/all of them, then they will just wheel out the 'lessons will be learned' line, and proceed to do bugger all next time)

had elec issues with gte then stipped it sold on shell (local) swapped the xe for a 300bhp clet in the gsi blew it up 3 months later then it sat on the drive for a few years all that was left for the mot was weld exhaust and bleed brakes. sounds easy enough but no done every thing and some with the brakes spat the dummy and sized 11'd the rear quaters and scrapped it the other day. its being broken on migweb/mk3oc but the clet is sold the xe and the rest is there cav turbo wheels BTCC style buckets etc etc. any way shameless plug.

Some nobber who is obviously very unsuccessfully trying to contact me to pursue an insurance claim.

Basically a few weeks ago when it was really windy I opened my door and the wind swung it into the Smart car parked next to me. It hit it right in the middle of the door and bent it in (they are plastic by the way). There was no other damage and it would have popped out easily - even our lass said so, so I was tempted to **** off. But I did the right thing and left my details with the car park staff, then took some photos to cover myself in.case they tried exaggerating the damage.

Ever since I have been bombarded with phone calls...all from a private number in work time and they never leave a voicemail. So at this rate they will still be trying to ring me this time next year lol

Found out today a simple engine swap wasn't so bloody simple.
X14xe from a mk4 Astra that I've bent the valves on, isn't the same as an x14xe from a tigra/Corsa b. I've had to swap all the timing end for the engine mount, and then found out I cant fit the Astra rocker cover to the tigra head as it mounts differently, which I kind of need as the Astra runs a coil pack and the tigra runs a separate coil and HT leads.
And then even worse then that...I CAN'T FIND MY ANGLE GRiNDER

My job has annoyed me today!

I handed my notice in about 2 weeks ago and was told that i could be paid any leftover leave after ive finished
This week im told that force policy dictates that i actually take all outstanding leave otherwise ill just lose it. So i have 2 and a half weeks left and 50 hours to use.
So i put in a request to have the next 3 night shifts off and im told that me not being here will actually leave our squad short so can i pick some other days.
How about no!!
Stupid management instead of paying me flat rate for the outstanding hours are now paying someone time and a half overtime to cover me!
Now i know some of you would say waaa you are being forced to take time off so what. Im annoyed at the fact that they are forcing me even though it will cost them more and still trying to make me feel guilty about what days i pick

No wonder this force is broke! Common sense fail

unfortunately, the people in this land who are good with money rarely work for government run departments..

i know a bloke who worked for the audit commission (before they were disbanded by the govt) and some of the stories of incompetence that he uncovered are amazing..

govt depts price something up after a committee has stuck its oar in & completely changed the project, they always overspec everything & never, ever allow any funds for maintenance of the project after the completion date.

Mine did have a dodgy regulator as the dash/lights/electrics would sometimes flicker when it was first started, turning it off then back on again once moving sorted this out, so youre probably right, how and where would i source a new regulator from?

Funnily enough i went through a ridiculously bad wet spot on the previous bout. thought id just drive over this one fine, started scrabbing so i picked the implement up then i sank out of sight. Got into 2nd gear (it has 18) with 4WD and F+R lockers in and tryed to crawl out, didnt wanna budge. I then get told its my fault for not stopping when it started scrabbing. Trying to keep straight/operate hydraulics/watch the ground at 12km/h (thats fast pulling a 4m implement trust me!)all at once is a ****ing job to do, pissed off is an understatement.

EDIT: i know it doesnt look bad in them but the drawbar is on the ground, the implement is touching the ground even though its "100%" lifted on the arms according to the gauge.

That's bizarre, diesels have always been cheaper for me to insure, as I assume less people wrap them around lamp posts because they're not that much fun to rag to the limiter most of the time lol

If you got it from where I think you did ;) normally there pretty good at damages returns tbh Si, I had a few bits replaced not long back

They weren't helpful at all?

How bad is the damage? Deep or just surface?

SimonTW
01-03-13, 07:02 PM
All parts we send have to be checked after arrival and if damaged within 48 hours mentioned by email.
As far as I know this bumper is in Primer and has to be finished with paint. This is what other customers did after buying the bumper. There's an other version of this bumper only made of plastic, this one is made of polyesther, that's what you see through.
So there's no problem at all.
In the future always check the parts at arrival, and if not happy, you cab return within a week. It's all written in our webshop conditions.

Should have checked it within a few days but figured i'd leave it safely wrapped up.
