as long as you are at the same speed as the traffic on the main carriageway, and you leave a reasonable gap, undertaking on the sliproad is perfectly legal....
blasting down it as fast as you can then crapping yourself & trying to play chicken when you find a line of trucks there should be a hanging offence
I know, i've looking for and finding my gap/space at least half way down the slip road, so i know if i need more or less speed...

having to get my dog put to sleep this morning.
the old girl was nearly 17, and she'd had a massive stroke over night sat/sun & she couldn't work her left-hand side. i keep getting told we did the right thing, but i feel like the worst person ever. i buried her at the farm where work are based. our house is not a happy place to be tonight.

I really is the right thing to do, I often wish it could be done with people to stop months of suffering. We had our cat put down at 15 and although it was very sad it was unfair to try and keep her alive when half her organs were failing :(

so use public transport, keep the tickets/receipts & log the time taken. then if you are carrying equipment, to use, remember that you can't carry more than 25kg, so may need multiple trips. then see what its costing them over a month...
ps. round here, workers on mileage for the nhs use a mapping based system so the boss can see the distances travelled

Sh!t son!
Lack of coffee in my house is disturbing. Now I have to go and face people to go and get some.
Just had two pikeys come up my drive to try and buy some scrap because I'm stripping a car out there. Didn't stop them having a peek in the garage and the shed though, so I'm off out to buy some chains and padlocks now that they've had a good look around. Everything containing any metal is getting fully locked down!
Anyone in the Barton area - beware.
/\ i find a simple yet very aggressive 'what the hell are you doing?' does the trick...
I did that in my old back yard.
Saw one looking over the fence...
"the fukk you looking at?!"
"eerr err dya want that scrap taking away boss?"
"nah do I fukk il weigh it meself thanks"
Then fired up my stihl saw to continue cutting bricks.............

Yeah its much better than a dry slope mate, im still learning and have only been 4 or 5 times, it gets mega busy at peak times tho and the ques for the lifts are a bit long at times but still good to try out and get your snow fix in the summer lol

I'll have to check it out in the new year then :) wish we had a place like that up here! Although the dry slope is here is very good, it's quite big and has jumps etc
Its actually really good as there is plenty to do around the place too, cinema, bowling, restaurants, shops including ellis brigham, dry wall climbing and the shopping centre too all in one place,
If you are down in glasgow you should pop into xscape and have a look, or have something to eat in tge china buffet king which has full length windows to watch folk on the slope

Driving home after picking up my new arb, a cucumber (yes a cucumber) got kicked up by the car in front and under mine subsequently smashing my air horn to pieces. I stopped to look and saw what was left of my horn but it was mainly bits of cucumber smashed into the bell housing. Then I got some random piece of trim (from another car) caught under my wheel at traffic lights so I dragged my wheel locked up a couple of feet. But other than that it's been an ok day, other than the rain.

Happily trundling along the A6 up north towards Joure at 50 mph, some **** in a white VW/Mercedes van decided it was a good idea to ram his car into the back of my camper. Heard a loud bang (didn't feel it though - got to love heavy 1952 build quality) and he came flying by, littering the motorway with debris of his passenger mirror in the process. All I could see was that he was on Belgian plates but it all happened too quick to get his number. Tosser didn't bother to pull over and exchange details. Never mind, considering he managed to fold my (thick steel :thumb:) bike carrier and dent the drivers side rear end, he must have inflicted a shedload worth of £££ in damage to his van. :d

Had a ****e day in work. Then on way home looking forward to my tea my rad decides to split in the vectra. Then I get home and find out that my misses has been out for dinner with her mate so decided she didn't want any tea so I can make sommat myself. And now the washing machines packed in.
So my misses has the nerve to disturb me during my beans on fackin toast that I Slaved over a hot microwave to make To say leave that and come sort the washing machine out. So I calmly put my tea down walk in the kitchen and ripped the ******* door off the washer in my temper. Which I now regret as it's me that has to pay for it lol

Last week I was after a new(ish) car. Needed a loan for that. Already paid the seller €100 in advance, assuming the loan would be sorted by the end of the week. The bank decided it wasn't going to happen due to various reasons so I had to call off my agreement with the seller. This weekend, naive me discovered that when a buyer cancels a deal, the seller gets to keep the prepayment. This is part of our trade laws. Not only that, but I had a 3L-specialist come over last week to do a full checkup for €150. So that's €250 down the drain and no car. To say I am pissed off is an understatement. I guess we all live and learn...
If you must know, the car I was on about is a 2003 VW Lupo 3L with heaps of options.

we have a water canister dust suppression system...

ME:ok, we'll wear our dust masks that we brought....
HIM:not good enough, have you been 'face fitted' by a qualified person??????????
ME:I'm sorry, but why would we need to?????
HIM:because its a new HSE rule, and you need it.....
because of this tosser we have managed 2 hrs work in 2 days for 4 blokes.... the project manager is tearing his hair out because we aren't making progress, but as we keep telling him, every time we comply with the last idiotic rule, along comes another one to stop us.... this health & safety bloke is better than Arthur scargill at stopping men working

Its nothing to do with our company, the lad who died worked for the main contractor, the driver who was in the truck was a sub contractor and we are another sub contractor
But we all do the same jobs together almost every night.
Motorway resufacing is dangerous at the best of times, but its still a shock.

I see, bit of a tangled web of companies then.
I know its dangerous, I had a contract via another sub contractor to the highways agency working nights on the M42/A42 repainting bridge support bearings many years ago. Only thing stopping a car hitting my MEWP was a line of cones on an unlit motorway. Had an incredibly close call with a HGV taking out a sign/sand bagging weights about 2am one morning.

It's the wife's car
so let her fix it, because women always know better than men.....
my mrs did when her golf mk2's alt. light came on, when she was living 70 miles from me at college, so I explained exactly how to check if the belt was there or not, the next night I rang to be told it was there I told her not to use it till I could get there at the weekend, she said ok... 3 days later, she rang me cos she had driven 30 miles & it died.... so I raced there to get to where it was before the only car parts place shut, at 8, to find she wasn't with the car... after a frantic chase round, I found her at her sisters house cos her uncle was visiting from australia... we got to it at 8:05pm to find, no sodding fan belt... she then explained that she had been too busy to check, so she'd lied... she ended up paying someone to fix it, cos I wouldn't speak to her for a couple of weeks.

it all depends what make of boiler you have..
mine is an ikon 28t.. its about 10 years old. it was running the rads, but no hot water & it had the valve replaced a few years ago for the exact same reason..... so I knew I was stuck.. anyway, I decided to strip it out to get a head start & found a small lump of solder jamming it. so after a quick visit to b&q, it is back together & working.....I managed it before you posted, so I didn't take any pics, sorry
what make it yours? they really are basic. usually, a circuit board, a diverter valve, a heat exchanger & the boiler. then a few randomly placed sensors.. its a case of pulling the cover off, draining it down and removing the valve..

Get to work today only to find that some thieving scumbags have climbed the gate, stolen the fuel from one of the recovery trucks, also taken about 3/4 of a tonne of batteries and stolen an employees mountain bike worth about £1000. Worst thing about the fuel is that although I never lock the fuel cap so if this happens they can siphon the fuel out, instead they ignored that and punched a load of holes in the fuel tank.
