i just don't understand the apparent total lack of forethought that most mway drivers have these days.... i mean, with managed motorways & those computer controlled speed limit signs, when a sign has 50mph on it, slow down gently to 50, do not drive to the sign at 80+ then leap on the anchors....then do not immediately accelerate to near 80 then brake again.....

Stuart
20-11-12, 08:46 PM
OR just ignore the signs as everyone else does.

I've noticed that the motorways are becoming a bigger nightmare at the weekend than during the week... I guess thats when the clueless take to them and crash because driving round everso gentle curves is hard work.

The worst offenders on motorways are the ones who make the same journey every day yet seem to be trying to set a new Guiness World Record involving number of lanes crossed in shortest distance. I've seen some right stunts performed on the white hatching between M1 North and South slip roads off the M62 lol

mowgli

half term on the m42 near the cadbury's world turning is always a scary place....

any junction near ikea a week before college starts is an accident hotspot too.

anything to do with a horse lorry should be avoided at all cost.... i once followed one from the m25 /m11 jn all the way to watford gap services regularly flashing my lights & sounding my hooter to attract the drivers attention to point out her fold down steps were still down... i followed her into the services and told her to her face and asked if she'd noticed me flashing my lights etc.... she said 'had you been following me for long'
i replied 'about 100 miles'..

i genuinely hate the m1 on a sunday.. you get all the city types hurtling south after their short break, and all the bumpkins bumbling north after their trip to the smoke...and neither lot know how to drive on it...

and then sat navs manage to ignore the fact that the m40 exists, and they also think the real m6 thru brum has been replaced by the toll rd.....

Well fcuked off.

Bought myself an astravan. T reg. 1700tdi. Took it for a test run, everything seemed alright, pulled well, no knocks bangs etc. Needed a small bit of work, replacing a few bits like the headlights.

Now after some testing, I find out that the turbo is going, head gasket is going, it's drinking fuel like it's going out of fashion, has an oil leak somewhere...

The more I browse into the engine, the things I find that are wrong with it. Had a friend of mine in the trade have a look at it, and he has strongly advised me to find another engine in order to eliminate most of the problems this bloody thing has.

Not such a bad thing, a second hand engine for those are cheaper than a service.

could never work out how this one bloke i use to work with got on all the upskills training courses, became a coach and is now in manager training, until we all found out his uncle is a top manager at bg

guy was useless aswell, even with all his training he still couldn't do the most basic of jobs, would always be calling all the specialists on patch to work out how to do a job he was qualified to do :tard:

ive never heared of someone getting the call back saying they didnt get the job and here is x, y and z reasons i swear its a myth lol

mowgli
22-11-12, 07:00 PM
and what you know about who you know....lol

seriously, the public sector is finding it tough at the moment simply because they've had so much money thrown at them by the last govt, which they wasted on tons of useless things, and the well is now dry, so even though a fair few people are leaving the sector to retire, there aren't the positions being left..

mowgli

ive never heared of someone getting the call back saying they didnt get the job and here is x, y and z reasons i swear its a myth lol

its quite common, especially if you ask them to tell you why....

re the manager... its known as the brittas(brittas empire tv show) effect.. someone in a job at a large organisation is barely adequate at their job, but just good enough to not get sacked.... someone puts them forward for a promotion to a different dept simply to get rid of them, and it then happens again.... the problem is that eventually someone gets a top job by this method....

Over a month ago a nice Polish gent hit our car while we were parked in maccy d's carpark enjoying a big mac. We went through a 3rd party claim company as advised by our insurance, we got a courtesy car, car got fixed and we thought that was the end of it. Now we get a call saying the claim is being disputed, and he says we reversed out the space into him. :wtf: Conveniently this is over a month since the incident so am guessing there will be no Cctv to back up our story and this will go down as a 50/50.

Eastern European drivers really are the scum of the road IMO

First they come over in their euro registered car, normally looking like it wouldn't pass a MOT, with a trip back to the continent once a while they can drive around here as they please, no tax not etc

If you get hit by a foreign car your fcuked from what I heard as well

Secondly then they just buy cheap british car and don't bother sending of the V5, again no come back

Getting abuse from a braindead driver, and the driver of the vehicle directly behind it, for not pulling out and using the bus lane at 9.15 this morning!

Trying to pull out from a parking layby, the buslane was empty, and the outer lane was standstill, i had nowhere to go, yet the muppet in the fiesta using the BL tried to let me out, i gestured as to 'where am i supposed to go?' and was given the :tosser: gesture from the driver, and some mumblings from the passenger as they drove off in a huff (down the BL ill remind you)

Then bugger me, the completly ignorant cow in the vauxhall (antara?) 4x4 thing behind also tried to let me out, again the outer lane was still at standstill so i was still left with nowhere to go, she then pulled alongside and mouthed something at me whilst giving me a funny look, i shouted 'its 9.15, its a bus lane' at her, saw her mouth the words 'F***ing W****r' as she drove off aswell, now this wouldnt have pissed me off as much i dont think, if she hadnt have been a bloody copper, in a fully marked up police car, oh how i wished she had dropped her window, i wouldve pointed her towards a copy of her highway code, and advised her that not only should she not have been trying to make me enter the bus lane illegally, she shouldve been handing out three points to the tosspot in the fiesta, and she also shouldnt have been in the feckin bus lane her fooking self!!!!!

what diffrence does that make if it was listed as a 16 :tard:

Keif
01-12-12, 05:33 PM
Exactly. Would they have advertised an 8GB one for the same price.....no.
Was it listed around the same price other 16GB iPods....YES.

slap in a claim against the seller

Keif
01-12-12, 10:14 PM
That is an option. The seller has said for me to post it back (at my cost) and issue a full refund.

If I put a claim in, surely eBay will only say the same.

My preferred resolution is for them to just refund me the difference for the missing 8GB, which they offered before changing there mind and offered me the full refund.

*Edit*
It's looking like eBay will be sorting it. They've not offered me a full refund, just a refund for the item and not postage. Then they can't understand why my answer is no.
sad thing is, if I put a claim in now, i'll not be able to anymore with it for over a week, as i'll have no internet access. So it'll have to wait til next week.

You do need to be a bit coy with that scheme as Spudders mentioned.

In short you have the 'loan' for the bike taken out pre tax so it costs less in reality, but its upto the employer how they LOAN you the bike...
EG they could loan you the bike for 12 months and take the full purchase value off you (the full value being what they pay) , and then take the bike off you at the end as its still technically their property, OR sell it to you for market value, OR sell it to you for less than market value BUT you have to pay the tax on the difference between market value and what you paid them for it. This still winds up being cheaper than paying outright but you need to bear in mind the end game rather than paying peanuts for something that isnt yours at all until the end of the agreement.

I'm pondering buying a bike this way through work and getting them to cover it in the least amount of time possible (think thats a month) and pay a token £1 + tax difference on the bike+gear... Should still save atleast VAT and a bit of incometax and NI.

To cover yourself next time this happens, take a picture on your mobile next time, i had this a couple of times in my old job, customers ringing up kicking off the next morning claiming that id never showed up to deliver their parts when they were 'there till half six' and i had clearly got there about 5pm to find a locked garage!!

Started doing that and went in the next day to one place who got all cocky with me saying 'fookin hell, i thought you had a fast parts service, if youd said it would be next day i wouldve gone somewhere else' and started swearing at me, i simply said well if you dont want it, and turned to walk out!

The guy kicked off even more saying he did want it and he also wanted it the day before, i laughed and said well you shouldnt have gone home early, pulled out my phone and showed him the picture of his locked/shuttered garage with the door bars locked in place, and showed him the time the picture was taken, which was about 5pm the previous day, he shut the f**k up then and paid for his parts!

Never delivered there again mind lol

If it's Chris/Passion Restoration Products do not send him a penny!

Search Chris Latham/PRP and loads of Passionford, Seriesoneturbo, Vaux, Renault etc threads will come up. He done a 'CAM' and stopped trading, owing a lot of people money/parts.

Not to mention it was DMB making up his plates etc in the first instance.

He was a good, ex-concourse S1 RST lad that decided to rip people off. He may still take your money (may not) but you will not receive a thing.
He owes back-rent on his unit, so the landlord kicked him out etc.

I'm away out now, but here's just one link for you to check http://www.rsownersclub.co.uk/rsocbb/showthread.php?t=476632

A14 is a ****e road, can regularly go over the orwell bridge at 20mph for reasons unknown to man when its at peak times, needs a 3rd lane from the port to just after the a12 turn off imo

in fact, it needs digging up just east of the m1 junction too, then i wouldn't have to drive on that bit with 'no overtaking of sainsbury or tesco wagons doing 5mph slower than everyone else, for hgv's in case it upsets the poor little car drivers who don't know how to overtake & pull back in' section..... they have a bit like that on the m42 near twycross zoo & everyone ignores it...lol

My brakes were pretty knackered anyway, so despite initial guesswork, I had convinced myself that it was the rear pads trailing on. Nope!

I didn't even want to drive it the four miles home lol. It's about to fall apart. A lovely 'scraping' sound present at all speeds, both directions, and changed pitch when introduced to pot holes etc ffs.

I put 1150 miles on the car in two days the other weekend, said noise was with me all the way. lol

I've had knackered bearings before, but this one's a winner for me. As for driving back from Germany, I have put at least 2.5K miles on the car since the noise started. lol

There's a lot of play in it. Surely it's held onto the bottom arm by four bolts, and nothing else? if it fails catastrophically, then it would just separate anyway?
It's not an issue though. It won't be moving until I replace the bearing.

i have no idea, but we were laughing when we did it.....

we replaced all the old signs in the borough, and one day did all but one on an estate, and a woman came out & asked why the one near her hadn't been done, and my mate said to ring the council & complain...we had the sign back at the yard & 1st thing the next morning, we fitted it, and she came out to see us.. my mate then told her that someone at the depot had a right rollocking & there was all sorts of trouble, apparently women shouldn't swear like that etc...i had to sit in the truck till i stopped laughing.

Sorry but in this day and age if you cant respond to an email your not going to get very far. It was far easier to send an email explaining what i wanted with measurements ect than it was to say it all and try to explain it all over a phone.
If the only type of business you want to do is over the phone then dont have a contact form on your website and dont bother having an email address at all.
Emailed a different company this afternoon and they emailed me back 20 mins later and got 1500 quids worth of work from me.
My email address is on my business cards and i wouldnt dream of ignoring a single email as its led to loads of work.Half of these companys have people sat around doing **** all anyway in the office, probably too busy on faceache or twitter to take 5 mins to reply.

we used to have a contact form on our firms website. and we regularly had emails go missing. so we had them take it off & let people find our email address & use their own methods of contact.

The cat, he's got himself into a fight and his eye has been torn open. Took him to the vets, £140 today and another £350 if he has to have his eye taken out in a couple of days time. £500 bloody a few days before Christmas. GREAT!

And it took me 5 attempts and 45mins to get the stupid lampshade on his head.

i have had opportunity to visit the delightful village of Quorn on many occasions, it is a charming place with decent shops, pubs & its own steam railway, and is located a few miles south of that godforsaken student infested hole of loughborough..

the name Quorn is also linked with one of the oldest fox hunts in the land, and the hunt are usually people who enjoy meat, so the good residents of the aforementioned village really should consider legal action for defamation over that mush that is made to look & taste like meat, yet not actually be meat...

also got two 80 quid fines from the dvla for not declaring the nova and my old fiesta sorn, i dont even know where or what happened to the fiesta

the engine blew up on the m1 i had it towed to some back roads in Nottingham and got a lift back down south, called up and canceled my insurance then called the recovery people the day after that to go collect and scrap it, when they showed up to collect it it wasn't there  that was early 2011, i never reported it as i didn't want to have to answer the question of why i left it on the road somewhere uninsured for nearly 48 hours

i really need to get all this kinda stuff in order but can never be arsed to call up people etc to sort it all out

Possibly the pedal box itself iirc, common problem on most of the vag range from that model area

Very true

Since moving to our new house just over a year ago we've had

A bees nest
A wasp nest
A family of rats in cavity wall
No joke, a massive swarm of ladybirds

All in our house

This is the common problem where a couple of spot welds fail and the hydrolic clutch shaft
And bush push through the pedal cage. Now repaired to it will never break again. Only £5 welded instead of £17 for a new one that has the same weakness.
