My insurance renewal on the Civic being £1100. When I rang them and told them I had a quote of £550 they immediately said the best we can do is £700. Why not quote me that in the first place then rather than trying to rip me of for £400!!! Obviously going to change to the £550 one anyway!
Also the fact that I have to pay £550 insurance if I park the car on the drive but only £500 if it's on the road. I sort of understand the reasoning but it's more likely to get carelessly damaged on my road due to all the other cars!
Insurance is just one big fat scam.

That's what I meant about sort of understanding the reasoning, however if they wanted the car bad enough they'd probably have done a bit of watching to see which house it belonged to.

Or (no offence intended) realise its just a civic and go to steal a Ferrari or something of real value.
No offence taken. Why would it matter if it's on the drive then if its only a Civic, no one would want to steal the keys, might as well go after that Ferrari!

I've always found LMF very helpful, my Roose hose kit for the Sport was half sr half gte, they sent me the replacements and didn't ask for the others to be returned leaving me £'s in once I'd sold them

I know it's a today thread but hey ho... yesterday my attic roof fell in after two days ago actually getting roof tiles sorted on my roof due to water getting in :(
Today I got home after work and someone's stolen my stone driveway flagging, rather pi$$ed off to say the least.
Edit: btw I know the guy who did my roof slates that needed doing so know its not related to the driveway theft... a few sheds in the area had also been raided last night of mowers.

Apparently, they kept turning it on and off and eventually broke the temp switch until it wouldn't turn off anymore, some oil/grease that was on the baking tray turned into embers and it spat everywhere all over the oven. Then they turned the power off to stop the kids playing with it anymore and it couldn't cool itself down because they cut the power. Lol
Lmao nice.
I know its not local but there is a smeg dealer in Modena that should have the parts in stock, should only be about £30 for next day delivery ontop of the part price.

Also people in mercs who cant bear the thought of an 80's car overtaking them so speed up.

people who bumble along the slow lane of the motorway at 50mph, then when a wagon (driven by me) overtakes them, they zoom off up the road, only to slow down again so i catch them within a minute or so....
idiots who don't look at maps/motorway signs, and rely on their shat nav, and when it suddenly says turn left now, they do, causing a 60ft long, 44 ton scania to have to do an emergency stop in lane 2 of the m42

Oh and what the fcuk is the coming down the slip road and cutting everyone up to reach the overtaking lane in record time all about?
Haven't cut anyone up before but I have had to undertake someone on a slip road purely because I didn't feel safe joining a busy motorway at 30. Some people fail to realise travelling half the speed limit is almost as, if not more dangerous as 1.5 times it! I've caught up to someone late at night before doing 40 on an empty motorway, it was actually a little scary catching them that fast as I wasn't expecting it at all, and there was someone overtaking me in the 2nd lane at the time, so I had to slow for them.
I have also seen the impatient version of the same move though, which I assume is more likely what you're on about.
I'm the only decent driver on the road, everyone else are just useless idiots. As soon as you get used to that you'll never be disappointed. lol

This post needs some kind of award, precise, and funny, great stuff
people not understanding the concept of the motorway lanes
how people older than stu were taught them......
slow lane, is so called because of the speed limited hgv's travelling down it & then using the middle lane to pass slower ones & pulling back in....
middle lane, meant to be an overtaking lane for the slow lane, but also home to 7.5 tonners, vans, caravans & buses, which can run faster than hgv's so they are constantly overtaking them
fast lane, used to overtake vehicles in the middle lane before pulling in.....
now, the more amazing rule that is long forgotten... if, as designed, people are using the motorway properly, then when there is a crash in the slow or middle lane, the hard shoulder & fast lane would be the lanes of diversion, so the motorway keeps moving........
in fact, the only bit of the motorway network that works correctly with busy traffic is the bit near luton with 50mph average speed cameras on it, so the bmw & audi drivers can't drive like tits between the cameras, like they do on the m25, causing all manner of hold ups.
Always use lane 1 unless its got something in the way less than 1/4 mile away lol
Use lane 2 to pass lane 1 obstructions, but move back in as soon as is safe.
Use lane 3 to pass anything in the way in lane 2 then move back to 2/1 as soon as safe.
If lucky enough, use lane 4 blah blah blah.
It's how it works on the continent etc and it does work on the m40 but that's about it :( the uk should be ashamed of its motorway etiquette. We wouldn't need 4+lane motorways if they were simply used properly.
Agreed, people are fukking w4nkers on the motorways, when your overtaking at 80 why does some fukking guttersnake come bearing down on you from 130 in a big fat german tank with its hids blasting in your mirror, then get as close as possible til you pass what you are overtaking.
People like this need the book throwing at them in court.
As do you doing 80 :p lol
oh ffs! lol lol lol
Half the time though, you have to break the limit to pass the other w4nkers that speed up as they cant bear the shame of being overtaken.
Then tuck in behind and draft :D
Then tuck in behind and draft :D
If youre close enough to draft them properly, then youre tailgating :p

another time he was jackhammering out some concrete with a jcb in the local builders merchants yard at 9:00 on a saturday morning, and some bloke appeared at the end of his garden trying to make out that the vibrations had caused untold damage to all sorts of ornaments in his house, 50 yards away...my bro called him a few choice things, the bloke replied that he'd never been spoken to like that, and my bro said 'i doubt that' anyway, the bloke walked round to the builders merchants office, and started banging on at the manager, who called my bro into the office, and asked him what he had to say for himself, and he said 'i've already told the malingerer to fcuk off, i can't see why i should repeat it' and walked out..
if the govt ever advertised for a professional bollocker, i'd put him forward for it

if i end up losing my job over it, i will do more then give him a grazed knee, the Lady's genitalia.

my real post:
muckshifters... or more precisely, the vermin that drive them... i was in Leeds, and had parked up at the end of the road so i could walk in & see just where to go before trying to get my 61' wagon & drag into the site... then these 2 imbeciles in 8 wheeler tipper wagons mount the kerb to get by me & come sailing into the site... i pointed out the dodginess of their parent's marriage certificates, and explained that i was actually in next... tw&t #1 said tough, we got in first, tw&t #2 said, 'i started this week & i'm following him till i know the area'.....
so as they were merrily loading in the site, i proceeded to block the road with bricks that the forktruck driver was planning to slowly move..really slowly....

Two mate, on that section anyway. Definitley needs one in the centre. I tore the centre heat shield off last weekend, as the standing water had pulled it right down, and as I now realise the reason it was down in the first place was because the exhaust had been resting on it.

/\ ford is legendary for knowing the value of a quid & the price of a part... they did component lifing long before everyone else did..
they famously worked out that the original mini was being sold at a loss & told bmc(or whoever they were at the time).. it took them 20 years to admit it..
they infamously had the pinto...70's american car..... that had its fuel tank in behind its rear bumper, and worked out it was cheaper to pay for a few dozen burns claims than it was to re-engineer the car...they got caught out with that one...
Component engineering FTW, most OEM's can make a part fail at exactly the end of warranty :D its a skill.

Contractors have turned up today to harvest the maize at work, would love a job like that just makes me want to get away from the farm even more! :(
contracting is piss boring.. ok, you get to earn minimum wage & sit in a warm tractor seat, talking cobblers on the cb all day, but it is just like any other repetitive job..
me, i'd love to be on a farm all the time.. my family has been in farming for ever, but it skipped a generation at my dad.. i'll happily do all the farm work there is, but the money isn't as good as what i'm earning driving a wagon..
what sort of farming are you in?? i'm guessing mixed/dairy.

Ive been round this place my whole life, dont really know much different but im a qaulified welder, keep telling myself i want to go into fabrication but i like 80% of the work here too much :(
where i work is owned by a now 4th generation family, split into two halfs. One cousin does arable which is the side i work on, and the other cousin does dairy but occasionally i get roped in doing bits and bobs on the dairy farm, had too look after 2 farms of cattle for a fortnight earlier this year on me own & i do pretty much all the grassland work for sarlage (cutting, spreading, rowing up, making the heap only thing i dont do is drive the forage wagon)
then in summer i corn cart/bale cart and this time of year im on a 150hp case puma with a 6m power harrow doing 3km/h across a field allday :tard: very boring this time of year but i can think of worse jobs. my dad used to be relief cowman on the dairy side but he left because he didnt get on with the main cowman & i nearly left this harvest after coming very close to fistycuffs with our resident jumped up combine driver, been here for 2 years but im on my 6th harvest now i think as i worked during school holidays for them, dont really know what to do with myself tbh lol:confused::(
agric engineering??? corn store builders need fabricators/erectors..
look about, in your neck of the woods there are loads of ag engineers (not tractor dealers), and a good welder/fab man is always going to find work.
my cousin is a phenomenal fabricator, he works for a firm on heavy stuff for industry & quarries. he recently got an aquajet machine for his own workshop. we get him to make stuff. my hiab crane needed converting to have folding jack legs, we were quoted about 2 grand for a poxy fitting kit.. so we got him round, designed something on a scrap of paper & he designed a much better setup than the factory & then built it up. he made a few hundred, we saved a few hundred . his dad is a farmer & when he was younger, he would make his own implements to save money..
working for family is not always the best thing.. i should know, i'm into my 18th year working for my brother... we've had times when we were ready to murder each other, but a trip to the pub usually sorted it out...
me & my brother are at our best when doing proper old school farming... like baling( we did 3000hay & 2000 straw conventional bales & i stacked them all cos my nephew & his mates were crap at it) , or doing something with his sheep, we find its great for the soul after a week of stress from haulage & building work..

i desperately tried so hard to get an apprenticeship with CLAAS combines, they strung me along until the last minute and then said they werent running it that year, i wrote to them about 4 times & my current boss put in a good word for me as he's freindly with a bloke high up in the local dealership as we've only ever had claas combines & grass working equipment (apart from there round balers, ****ing **** things!) Tried with Ernest Does & thurlow nunn the two main tractor dealers too (new holland & fergie ****e) but had no luck with them either so i chose the farm. I'll keep looking though! Only problem is i dont have much experience, and everyone wants experienced people :tard:

yeah im at night school on my last year of my welding diploma so i didnt really want to take on another course too, winter months are absolutely dire, things like cleaning/maintaining field drains, ditching, building maintenence (hate that with a passion) concreting, we usually service everything during winter too, dont mind the servicing of machines and such like as i find that interesting, other than that its just a bit boring really!

Can't stand, and will never understand people like that. What car is it?

This exactly, there is a high chance he has come to weigh up your security arrangements, see whether it is garaged, alarmed and such, id hide it/box it in tonight and take the keys upstairs with you or hide them!!

You guys are possibly correct! However, I have his phone number and email address (a proper name not a mickey mouse one ) plus his Ebay user name that has over 200 positive feedback.
The car is not insured, and worth £400-£500! If it goes walkies then so be it, I have nowhere to put it and the TAX runs out end of October so it may save me having to weigh it in lollol
Doing Homework! i'm a techy ffs! Lots to do as well grrr.

Started my Z20LET in the 888 after a month standing and it purred like a kitten. Did 41mpg on the run upto put it away for the winter at a steady 70-75mph :)
Had a 200bhp RCZ for a week or so and tbh the Astra drives sooo much nicer, the engine is much quieter, smoother, torquier and better on fuel!

I have been just plodding round in my zafira for the last 2 weeks only getting an average of 25mpg just couple of miles to work and back.On the motorway it says it averages 33mpg
I think it needs a good sort out and hopefully everything will be ok as i cant fault it for the giggle factor of a zafira doing silly speeds
