Two things (yesterday)
A) The repair bill on my French POS was a bit higher than I expected. Went in for a timing belt + tensioner + water pump, and ended up doing the crank pulley, aux belt and aux belt tensioner along with them too, so the bill was doubled.
And B) I got a warning on the Renault forum for saying, in French, "If you don't fix my fucking van, I'll fuck your unshaven wife." on a thread where a guy suffered some problems while on holiday in France and no garage wanted to help him.
Although the second one is kinda funny, tbh.

And when it rains in Malta, especially the first rain of the year, it's literally like driving on soap. My brakes locked up and ABS kicked in, but the old guy driving the 106 behind me was less lucky.

I do a week of night shifts every five weeks and bloody hate it, it's like a week of my life wasted, I'm always tired and it takes around a week after to get back to normal.

Yea way more expensive, just doing the hydrofoils for one. 200kg each, 188 plys of carbon, finish about 4" thick with rohacell foams. Big clunky shit things. Hate boat work.

F1 and LMP builds are great for both money & total lack of monotony, 20 of each component if your lucky. From whole wings down to daft tiny brackets, oil and air pressure pipes & even the pedals. Ive literally made it all.
Rang the body shop to to get a progress report on the nova to find he hasn't touched it this week . Had it 5 weeks now and done not much more than a weeks work on it. Seriously f#cked off

Tricky to remove a windscreen without damaging it, bad luck!
Best way is to cut the seal and get a replacement one to stick in when putting the screen back in. After all the seals are the same on every nova, but the top tint screens aren't as common.

There great places to be! The LMP1 car i built up in germany, that was a blast, them cars were built with rock & roll by a great bunch of "englanders" an Germans pulling daft hours throughout a horrendous winter!
Buy as fun as the race bays can be, PAYE on a team aint all that, 40k salary at best, working away from home in digs at own cost, doing continental shifts, 2 weeks off in the slow summer, all nighters in the build season which is normally a 4 week slot to build 2 cars....

Same, i would never bother going back paye now, that £15 to incorporate a ltd business was the best 15 quid i ever spent!
I work labour only, so only invoicing xyz amount of hours per week to the client at an agreed rate +vat. They supply matierials, they take care of patterns, jigs, fittings etc. I just rock up with a well stocked selection of air tools and a respirator basically. Just so happens that where i am at the minute, they have kept me busy for the last 18months at there premises.
There are a load of composite companies out there that F1, Endurance, OEMs etc sub contract work too, in turn they need guys with the motorsport composite skills to help them fulfill those contracts. Im one of those guys lol
A guy i used to work with, ex Prost/Sauber/Porsche LMP/BMW DTM & currently Manor pit crew, has the same idea as me, start our own firm supplying teams. Eventually we'll have the capital between us to do it i hope.
Theres huge amounts of confidentiality crap i have to sign lol no photos, no talking about it etc etc. Its all BS basically.

I've come to terms that I might need to go talk to a shrink or something about this depression I'm going through. My sleeping schedule is out of whack and I'm eating every 4 days or so.
Genuinely, yesterday I got up at 3 in the morning after giving up on sleep, left for work at 6:30, got home around 3:30, went out at 9 and got home around 3. Slept around 3:20 and got up around 3:40 or so. After 24 hours of being awake, I slept for 20 minutes. Feels like I'm a zombie right now, to be honest. I'm so tired, my eyes are doing nothing but burning.

This might sound like excused, but genuinely almost no time for me to exercise, and especially in this heat. Maybe as the colder weather starts rolling around and school starts, I might have a bit more time on my hands and might start going for runs or something. I am taking some sleep controllers, but it'll take a couple weeks for them to build up in my system.
I've tried changing my diet and the whole 9 yards. I'm too young to be prescribed proper sleeping pills and all that jazz.

When it comes to exercise, anything is better than nothing I think. If you set silly goals like running a marathon straight away your more likely to get fed up with it as thats a big commitment of time and energy. I tend to fit it in where I can, go on short runs often, do sit ups between doing other things. I tend to run a mile quickly and do that several times a week. It doesn't take long to run a mile, I generally do it in about 6 minutes, easy to fit that in the day or night.
Exercise certainly makes me feel better, like I'm accomplishing something as well as the 'natural high' the body releases from doing it. It takes my mind off having a low paid dead end job and no nice lady in my life, and when I do meet a nice girl I'll be in decent shape too!

Spending the last few days wire brushing the underside of the Nova, seam sealing and finally painting it only for it to react. Oh well time to start again, it's only time and money wasted.
Tablets aren't the answer.theyre as bad as illegal drugs,they're just more socially acceptable.

Flo Flex tie bar bushes have cracked up and worn out after only about 1000 miles, not too impressed with those. Guess I should have spent more and bought the Powerflex ones to begin with. On the plus side the Nova passed the MOT anyway, and a pretty lady there was impressed by it.

I ended up running the guys 24hrs on split shifts 7 days a week etc which also meant 2 site managers and basically double everything. I did negotiate a decent bonus for the lads from our lot and the PC if the deadline was met/beat. We did an incentive of X amount for each day target beat but a bog standard amount for hitting the deadline. They beat it by 10 days.

Got a quote for a brake master cylinder from a saab specialist, priced up next at 49 quid I said I will have it just let me get home and double check the reg as he told me it wouldn't be returnable. I had planned a weekend accordingly with my ex who would have been spending the night (and the obvious ensues of course) but today I was told that the flight date was moved from Saturday to the following Monday, meaning my weekend has been automatically cancelled.

Leaving Swansea at 4am to catch the 12:30 ferry in Dover. This is about 5 hours worth of driving so ETA is around 9 am. I was wearing one, it leaked though, and the timing of that and how far along she is match, but enough of that. And I didn't say it was bad luck, just bad timing, that's all. As much as I'm scared, I'm excited too. last year I paid 187 fully comp on my td5 discovery and cos some fucking shithouse hit our lass in it it's gone up double even though it was that cunts fault which he took responsibility for (witness said no brakelights were seen from him!) His insurance paid me 900odd to fix my car which I did.My fam could have rolled on the floor like Cristiano Ronaldo but they honest and made no injury claim yet I have to pay more.

Well the engine did.
Rebuilt and it just will not fire up and I'm at my wit's end.
Spark at every plug, fuel, timing set, all more times checked. still will not start even with help start spray.

Having the company car serviced and then to have my boss have a go at me for selecting a place that's too expensive.
Tight imbecile clearly has no passion for cars and only looks at the price, not at the quality of workmanship.
Like having your car serviced by idiots and suffer expensive repairs as a result is a good idea.

Last night I entered a roundabout at a relaxed pace (because wife and 3 year old granddaughter in the back seat) and out of nowhere came a Suzuki Wagon R+ around the roundabout. The dinky toy shopping trolley was obscured by the A-pillar and so I smashed into his rear passenger door. My fault. Crap.

My car is a company car (see post above about maintenance) so I called my boss this morning. His reply "that's gonna cost you as it's only got third party insurance". WTF??? An uneducated guess is I'm looking at £2k worth of damage repairs. Needless to say I'm gutted beyond belief and this situation won't end here.
At least I'm glad it was a car instead of a motorbike - then things would have looked seriously grim.

What company do you work for? I seriously doubt a car like that is only insured 3rd party, what if it was stolen? Or hit by an uninsured driver? Seems crazy to me.
Don't suppose you have another fully comp policy you could claim from? That's if you have the right to drive other cars.

Nick, in Holland any driver is allowed to drive any car as long as the owner has given permission and the driver has a valid drivers licence. This permission doesn't have the be in writing.
I can't see how I could claim from another insurance as the insurance policy is linked to the car, we don't have policies linked to drivers like in the UK.
As far as uninsured drivers are concerned: we have a thing called "waarborgfonds" which covers motorists should they come across an uninsured driver. Certain conditions apply but I've dealt with a driver who slammed into me (and drive off) once and got covered.
Suffice to say that tomorrow I'll be having an interesting conversation at work which I'm not looking forward to.

Nice, I can't remember having mine out, remember the trip there with my parents, remember count back from 10... think I got to 5... next thing that I remember is the parents filling the car up with fuel followed by waking up over an hour later near home! Followed by only eating soup for the next few days!
What Pissed me off last night though was a mercy run into London to do an out of hours job, yet when I get there no one knew I was coming or what I was there to do, spent half an hour there before heading back home again!

Yeh not good feeling sore today but least it's stopped bleeding.
My old infinity amp finally died today. It's been in 4 different cars over about 17 years so to be fair I've done pretty well out of it, considering it was second hand when I got it lol

Took 4 days for the swelling to go down and about 1week for the bruising down. When i had one out.
Not a nice thing to have done.
