So the first patient on my driveway was Steve (LiquidPug) and his daily runner his Pug 106 S2, required a new offside driveshaft, and a front brake upgrade :)

well after helping James on the Saturday of last weekend (see vid (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=khqnxDbqQj0))... on Sunday (yesterday), I had LiquidPug and his red french thing back on my drive again for more bits to do.

Steve mentioned he had a lot of movement in the drivers seat of his S2 106, so we went about having a look, expecting just the captive nut to have come from the underside of the tunnelling, so maybe we'd need to either riv-nut a new one in, for the bolt to go into, or tack weld a nut ontop of the tunnel...

So after twenty minutes or so, we were looking like this... with the front seats out, rear seats out, and carpet lifted forward for inspection

considering we thought it was just the captive nut on the underside had just fell off, Steve was pretty shocked to find this little beauty lol

Thats from looking inside the drivers side, over towards the passenger side, you can see how it should look from the passenger one lol

Then cracked the Nitromorz out to get some nice clean metal, as we didn't fancy grinding in his car... Whilst nitromorzing, Steve noticed the rear leg too started to split the metal, so we decided to kill two stones with one bird.

Cut out and shaped some 2mm sheet steel, and twenty minutes later with some welding we had this (some of my neatest welding to day, i'll have you know)

Did it both front and back, sprayed zinc rust resisting primer on it, then some 'VW Mars Red' also known as 'Olly's old Nova towing eye red' lol

this one is bought, lol, being self employed and a daddy of 2 kiddie winks (almost, in two weeks) i wouldn't have time to build one

however, the idea is a couple of track days a month, with the daily hoon down the country lanes throughout summer, just enjoy it, and try and break it - then winter i will do a strip down, replace and improve bits :)

fibreglass bathtub stats are:
0-60mph in 3.6s
0-100mph in 6.3s
0-100-0 in 12.1 secs

Will pop in occasionally to say hi :)

I don't see a let nova as a good track car, powerful so fast in a straight line but it just adds far too much weight to the front end.

However a Corsa VXR engine could have a lot of potential with some management on it, NA is cool and although the small block wins on handling you can squeeze a fair bit of hp from the 20XE for not masses of money. Personally I would move forwards with tuning rather than backwards and go for the VXR engine if I was to build another.

I just love the simplicity and the bullet proof nature of the 20XE, I did 18 very hard trackdays within 12 months, and didn't miss a beat... thats exactly what I want.

Nothing mental, just a nice 230bhp XE on bodies with a 90% plate diff & sequential box.

Other than that - it'd be incredibly like my champagne one... simplicity. nothing over complicated.

ExTrEmeOc - awesome Nova - just fantastic, a man after my own heart with nearly everything you've done to it.

I've found myself a shell, although I'm a little out of touch... a H reg MK2, 1.2 SPi petrol is an OK shell isn't it?

Can't even remember if there were any major shells to avoid... my white one was a MK2 I think (K reg) and my champagne was a D reg I think, or F... which I thought was MK1? lol

Any nova shell should be fine, as long as it's not got the dreaded rot. The spi engine loom is part of the car loom and takes a bit of unpicking.

Theres a few people who could make a carbon infill panel so it would be lighter than a non sunroof one ;)

Get hold of some metal and weld it in, fill and respray. Decent rot free Novas are getting hard to come by so even with a sunroof it's worth getting.

hiya chaps - yeah they are certainly a challenge to drive, yet very comfortable at the same time.

just need to be so smooth for the aerodynamics to work, and heading into corners faster than you think is capable and the downforce just makes it grip (providing you don't lose your balls like I've done several occasions lol)
