Dave.

Not too sure what model it is, it does sya on the back but i cant remember

You have to plug it into your computer and do abit of hunting around all the files untill you find the icons one, then insert custom ones, however its a pain in the **** to find the file lol, their was hundreds on mine

Im looking at doing MArk, however with my first experience at insurance coming up, a 1.4 Corsa isnt going to leave me with much spare cash :(

Tax came through this morning for her, so hopefully once the weather stabalises well get her out for a propper run :d Unfortunatley my insurance runs out in 3 days and i really cant afford to insure her for another month at £120 a go :(

With alot of fcuking about lol

If you motice, the tip doesnt come out perfectly straight, this is because the backbox is twisted to that the bend sits higer up, therefore clearing the axle, its twisted about 40degrees

BUT, i can get away with it as my backbox is circular, whereas im buessing yours will be oval? so youll be able to see it and it will look strange

The tip looks like tis on a funny angle, ive got 2 Clio Sport exhaust tips from work which i cut off an old backbox, ill weld one onto this and one onto the Corsa when i get chamce, their 2.5" inward rolled, look smart, plus ill be able to keep the exhaust note on this i love so much! :d

moffat
29-05-10, 07:20 PM

Loving the car lad.. How do you get the indicators clear

Yupp as Craig said, their fully clear lights tinted red, however make sure you get some with white reflectors in, so when you tint them a red reflector shines to the rear :d

Who gives a toss, you're not going to be driving it on the road lol

Wrongg! :D

As most of you know i passed my test on Octorer 7th, and nearly every day ive been out in the ol' Nova, the buzz still ahsnt worn off yet, but petrols bloody expensive! lol

Anyways, heres some upsates in no particular order, i was long overdue some money off a mate who i used to work with, it didnt look like i was going to get the money, so instead i asked him to re-furb my wheels and we'll call it quits

When i got them wayyy back in 20, they looked like this, with horrible paint as the laquer decided it didnt want to stay attached during a jet wash one weekend

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC00085-1-1.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC00087-1.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC00088-2.jpg

All 4 where like this all the way round

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC00089-1-1.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC00090-1-1.jpg

And each wheel ahd 1 or two of these on it (no pics of the huge chunk i took out of the n/s/f one the other day after scrubbing up against a kerb at 40mph lol

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC00091-1-1.jpg

11-12-10, 05:36 PM
They look really good now

Yeah they do look rather tasty.

Any chance your mate wants to refurb 9 rims for me lol lol

Dave.
11-12-10, 05:37 PM
Then a mate of mine Dale said he had a digi dash in his shed i could have, so he brought it round, it was worse than i expected, no loom, no clear screen, no bulbs, only good thing was it had the transducer

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03177.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03178.jpg

I then remembered around 2 years ago when i put my digi clocks in my Nova, i got a spare loom from a mk1 nova in my scrappy at the time, after ripping the shed, garagem and my bedroom apart, i finally found it under my bed

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03179.jpg

Checked for all the needed wires, they were all there, RESULT! all that was needed now were a clear plastic front and bulbs

Managed to find 4 of my spare lower indicator/handbrake bulbs, dont ask me how, i just came across them in the boot of my model sierra cosworth lol

Then i remembered their was a complete Mk2 Astra in my local scrappy, so went up late one evening, destroyed the dashboard lol, and managed to remove the clocks with noting more than a flatblade screwdriver, took it home, slowly prised the clear front off the poverty clocks, tried it on the digi's and the hole was in the wrong place, crap! so made the hole larger, hey presto, glued on, doesnt look too bad

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03181.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03182.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03183.jpg

Yeah the hole looks abit bodged, but considering ive now got a full digi dash setup for FREE, im not moaning, ill keep it as my spare

Dave.
11-12-10, 05:38 PM

Dave.
11-12-10, 05:40 PM
And a pic of it getting used and abused in the snow and ice

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03154-1.jpg

11-12-10, 05:44 PM
And this is how it sits now, on my old steelies form the Corsa as they all have nice legal tyres on them (Yes Graeme, your wheels you gave me all them months ago :thumb:) Looks quite cool i reckon

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03169.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03175.jpg

But managed to get some trims form my scrappy off the Astra Mk2 which are retro as funk! looks pretty cool with them on aswell, but one keeps on falling off so their in the boot for the time being

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03168-1.jpg

Dave.
11-12-10, 05:46 PM

Aye, ive got a few sets lol TBH only one needs repairing where theres a £1 coin sized lump out of a spoke. The rest are fine but I CBA to take them all to be shot blasted & then take them all to the powdercoaters :S

Well all he did with mine was sand them down, sort out any inperfections, might look liek theirs none but even hairline scratches he gets rid of, he takes ALOT of pride in his work

Get me a pic of the spoke Mike, ill see if he can repair it for you? :thumb:

Mike
11-12-10, 05:52 PM
Will do when its light (tomorrow)

Dave.
15-12-10, 01:39 AM
Well finally managed to get my **** into gear and replace my speakers in my dash

This is what the old one looked like, replaced it afew years abck with a mk2 astra one, however it was well and truley ripped apart

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03176.jpg

So took a trip to my locall scrappy and found these items out of an Escor ti think, after an hour or so and pushing and pulling the dashboard (and is till dont know how i managed to do it) they fitted...JUST!

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03189.jpg

As you can see... VERY tight squeeze, had to ahck away alot of the dash behind to make them fit, but still blows air out of all the vents etc as i didnt want to bodge them in but have no de-mister

With the covers on looks spot on

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03190.jpg

And my baby finally clocked 50,000 miles! :thumb:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03192.jpg

And in a drunken prank, some mates painted my spare wheel trims some.... interesting colours.... and then stuck them on my car, i didnt realise untill id got home, i wondered why so many people were laughing at me lol

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03193.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03194.jpg

Ill remove them tomorrow... if i can be arsed lol

Danny s-p
15-12-10, 01:59 AM

Finished this last night as mine has a crap connection, horn push, however i painted the ring silver to keep in theme with the dashboard

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03203.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03202.jpg

Old door off

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03239.jpg

Took back the really damaged areas back to bare emtal

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03241.jpg

Skimmed it with filler

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03242.jpg

The green door ive got had been filled quite badly before and painted poorly, so we gave the whole door a skim of filler jsut to make it perfect, looks like alot but msot of this will be sanded off

The majority of it pulled straight when we pulled it with the jig, was really easy to do, may need a small skim just to level the hammer rash out of it if need be

99.9% probabley not, because he is "Not of sound mind and fitness" he cannot be interviewed and thus cannot be charged, it sjsut like being drunk, but they never sobre up, same thing, so no interview can be done and no charges pressed, its a joke

I am going t try and sue the home he escaped from or was let out of for the damage caused to my car and for injuries to msyelf, slim chance but worth a try :thumb:

Jack
07-01-11, 12:29 AM
Speak to a solicitor, if he did genuinely escape then you have a good case to sue them - lest we forget he assaulted you as well and thats a pretty serious crime, as if aggrevated vehicle taking wasn't bad enough lol

If they let him out then you have a case to examine WHY he was let out, if procedures were followed etc. As he was clearly a nutmeg, so someone went wrong somewhere.

Anyways i was too tired yesterday to update the thread, came in at 9 and fell asleep on the downstairs couch lol

Anyways here we go

Door filler rubbed down, i know its alot but it'll get me back on the road

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03244.jpg

Rear 1/4 skimmed with metallic filler

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03245.jpg

Inside the light panel pulled out really well

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03246.jpg

All masked up

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03247.jpg

First coat of primer

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03248.jpg

The door... but fumey if i say so

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03249.jpg

Ahh thats better

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03250.jpg

Primer and 1/4 all flatted back

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03251.jpg

And on the door... which took a long time

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03252.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03253.jpg

Nahh Adam, i wanted it doing perfect first time so elaving it to the pro's :thumb:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03257.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03262.jpg

Door handle wouldnt fit as the door is off an early mk1, so had to hunt high and low in the garage for an early handle, doesnt bother me though, its a door, it opens and closes :d

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03263.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03265.jpg

Well she's all built back up now, got a new fuel sender off Southie, so now i have a fuel gauge, got 2 nearly new tyres from my scrappy, popped them on the Mistrals and stuck them back on, had the car tracked and had a new n/s/f wheel bearing done, it drives like a neW car now! :thumb:

Just a quick pic of it when i washed it the other day, still looking good?

Right heres a good update for once lol... which i know msot of you will be pleased with

Tonight i was sat outside the car with everyone, jsut talking about eachothers cars, and looking at mine i finally realised what everyones been telling me for years... the exhaust.......... looks shiote lol

So managed to strike up a deal tonight with a mate, im doing a straight swap with mine for his on his corsa, a twin tip 3" outward rolled one off a Corsa

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02834.jpg

The hangers will need bending round 90* to fit on the Nova's mounts, but heres the plan

Im going to cut off one of the tips and welt a circular plate over the hole left, so it will be a much smarter, 3" outward rolled single tip backbox :thumb:

Hopefully putting it on tomorrow, so will get pics of it on, and then pics once ive chopped it up lol

Bout bloody time!

16-01-11, 12:13 PM
You might find you need to do a lot more than simply bend the hangers, they'll be in the wrong place and probably at the wrong height.
Nothing a grinder and welder cant sort though.

Assuming the box actually mates up to a nova system and sits right.

Personally id try it as it is atm (twin exit), twin exits do look good and its a simple job to just wip it off again and change it if you want to. Everyone has a 3" exhaust lol So it might look a nice change.

Corsa backboxs mount considerably different to Nova ones Dave.

Indeed they are :(

Managed to get it on of sorts, went for a drive and its nocking under the rear footwel somehwere, the hangers need to be cut and welded, and it comes out on a really hilarious angle lol

Hopefully tomorrow ill get it on the ramp, bent it so it comes out straight (easier said than done) and cut and weld new hangers onto it, it does sound nice though, more quiet than my old one, plus gives a nice raspy sound out, tempted to keep it twin exit if i can make it sit perfect :thumb:

Dave.
18-01-11, 01:56 AM
Well a good update which turns into a bad one :(

Managed to get the bakbox on of sorts, this is the straightest i could get it to hang, however when i was driving it was nocking like hell on the rear footwell and also would need bending quite alot to get it perfect.. pics

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03269.jpg

Looks straight, but it really wasnt

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03270.jpg

In these pcss the back box was held up with cable ties, anyway as i was driving to work this morning the cable ties decided to snap, releasing the backbox and sending it crashing down to the road lol, which gripped onto soemthing and ripped the backbox clean off! luckily the clamp wasnt on mega tight so it just pulled itself out of it

So my mate Tom has said i can have my old one back for now, as he's not driving yet so its only sat at his garage, so the chav tastic one goes back on tomorrow for the time being, untill i get a better job and can spend some money on a better bakbox :thumb:

Anyone want a twin exhit sportex backbox for a Corsa B, M62 between junction 7 and 6 Westbound, about halfway between, theirs one on the grass verge somewhere :thumb:

Well today tarted something up that was really peeing me off, this was my grille badge afew weeks ago, best pic i ahve, it was a really faded grye, the paint had totally rubbed off the crease in the S and thr red in the I was more pink, looked horrible

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03257-1.jpg

anyway quiet at work today, so took off the badge, masked it up, spent 30 mins or so cutting off the tape round the letters, flatted it off, primed it, gave it a lick of silver paint, removed any overspray and stuck a little reflectve red dot in the I, looks like brand new :thumb:

Well finally should be getting rid of the cahv-tastic backbox this time

Picked this up tonight, 3" inward rolled Mongoose Stainless Steel Nova GSI backbox, needs a little welding where it bolts to the centre section, looks like someones welded the sleeve to the pipe, so a new one will be welded on

All in all, not bloody bad for FREE!! :thumb:

Well after 5 hours and a 3 man struggle (big thanks to my mate Tom and a even bigger thanks to Graeme off here) who swapped me some stuff for a full electric window setup and central locking kit, including a custom made boot lock mechanism so the boot also locks on the system... dont know how many novas have got that :P

Ive seen it done before, utilises a cav bootlock iirc, the barrel always stays in the unlocked position but has a plastic bar inside which opens the lock when the button is pressed, when the doors lock it just rotates out of the line of the catch that pushes it, if that makes sense lol

Graeme
30-04-11, 09:07 PM

John could go lower tbh, only by another inch or so, but usually has a boot full or stuff anyway so its allways lower than in the pics

Spudders yeah the boot lock is off a Cav i believe, very smart and love the fact its less loverty now, switch wires will be swapped this week so the switches work the right way :thumb:

If you mean the elec window switches, dont mess with the wires you plum, just shave the plastic housing that the switches sit into so you can turn them around in the housing they slot into, saves fiddling with wires and such and will take about two minutes to do lol

Heres the pics of the last few weeks updates, fitted a full central locking kit including a custom boot one out of a Cavalier off Graeme from here, had abit of spare time in work today to took the smoothed boot lock offi got given with the kit, flatted it back as the filler had sunk in the hole abit, gave it a good key and used soem stuff we had on the shelf at work, plastic repair texture coat, came out a spot on match to the original texture, slightly darker but not too bad, stuck it back on...

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03368.jpg

Can really see the texture... looks factory

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03371.jpg

Also fitted electric windows to it also, after a nightmare with them turned out to be some dodgy gunked up switches, while they were out filed the holes in the centre console to put them upside down so they now work the right way

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC03372.jpg

Cheers Adam, the grab handle will probabley be getting painted soon, the filler in the lock has sunk slightly so ill take it off in afew days and give it a good going over again, give it a thickish coat so it can withstand constant pressing :thumb:

Thanks Southie, the rear lights are one of my favourite bits of the car, the grab handle is staying, but im tempted to de-wiper it next year when it gets fully painted white again, we'll see what happens

Main updates since last time were fitted a flip out 7" screen (their is a surround getting fabricated but keep hitting problems with it) Fitted a Cavalier SRI/Astra GSI steering wheel which has a much better feel to it and make steering a little easier, fitted tweeters into the doors to cover the old window winder holes, and jsut generally keeping her mint, ill let the pics do the talking

Well ive finally done it... ive bought an engine!!! Well more of a full car but im only interested in the heart

Here she is, F190 OUU if some of you remember her? Nova GTE with a STUPID amount of history

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/2012-02-26114441.jpg

Rear end smash at 50mph while the Nova was stationary, the previous owner was absoloutley gutted

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/2012-02-26114753.jpg

The reason ive bought the whole car is because to convert a 1.0L to a 2.0L 16V i need new tank, lines loom etc so ive basically got EVERYTHING here i need to do it, and i will try and make some money back on bits, really sorry to be breaking such a historic car but its well and truley dead :(

Ive managed to get it running in the GTE, had to re-plumb the fuel pump in as it has snapped the fuel lines when it was hit, starts and runs sweet no smoke a little tappy when its cold but will sort that eventually once its in, amazingly the damn thing still drives lol

Regretting starting this already  stripped most of the front end down, got the engine loom half out and all the plumbing disconnected, the thought of having to run wires for the fuel pump, make and fit new fuel lines etc is all becomibg abit daunting :( ill get pics tomorrow but it looks sorry for itsrlf.

Does anyone know what i need to do to replace a 1.0L engine loom with a 2.0L engine loom? Im really confused already :(

Balley
27-02-12, 10:36 PM
Just use the hole car loom, its easy enough, and use 10mm copper pipe for the lines :)

John
27-02-12, 11:27 PM
No need to use the whole car loom! thats a mammoth job! Dave have a nosey at the xe wiring guide in articles, you only need a few wires and you're away. I'll bet someone has spliced the xe loom into the gte loom. If so just reuse the plug car side and wire it into your car. Simples! If you were closer i'd come and give you a hand :(

Since these photos, buts that have been done to mine:

Wiring done
Tank lines and pump changed
Engine bay wiring tidied up ALOT
Strut brace fitted
Shorter Corsa 1.2 16v throttle cable fitted

Its finished!! from purchase of the donor car to fitted in mine running and on the road, and donor car totally stripped and scrapped.. 6 days, surely thats some sort of record? Couldnt of done it without my good mates Christian (christian1992) Dale, Graeme off here, Mr MattBrown, Riggy and my boss in work for letting me use the unit.

Im the happiest ive been in months, Jawpys finally got a 2.0L 16v, and im yet to test drive it untill tomorrow on trade plates... :D

This is my mate Christian's Nova too, told him id throw some pics up, was originally the green one off ebay that sold for about £900, he got hold of it and fitted a 1.6 16v C16XE, which threw a rod 6 hours after fitting it, we are currently in the process of fitting a X16XE, which got put on hold to do mine as he wanted some parts off my donor car hes bought the whole GTE interior off me for it, along with a set of Cav expression alloys, and afew other bits and bobs

Engine sits perfectly level Danny

The green ones had both sides painted yeah, it is very clean

Simon yeah its running a standard carb tank with no swirl pot, bit pointless tbh he has ton constantly have half a tank, ive swapped my tank for a GTE one and ran brand new lines

John yeahh all welded up of course, prepped pics on the previous page :thumb:

Good lad, i knew it wouldnt need to be said:thumb:

When it comes to you getting a quote, limit your mileage excessively, (i think 5k a year is about the lowest, but go lower if you can) and also go for 'social & pleasure' and remove the domestic (commuting) makes a hell of a difference as it shows you're only ever using the car for a weekend toy and wont be doing the rush hour thing with thousands of other commuters, therefore more of a risk of being crashed/crashed into!

Ill keep my fingers crossed you manage to insure the old girl though, and epic man points for not even considering doing it without declaring:d

spud i tryed the limited mileage out on the gte the other day as i was mucking about seeing how the astra wood cost if i decide to buy it off motorbillity 10,000 was quoted at £1,468 20,000 witch i am insured to do now was £1,254 on the astra. so i tryed the GTE 5,000 a year quote at £1,949 20,000 was £1,562 looking at all theses difrent prices i dont have a clue were they get the price from

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/2012-03-12140246.jpg

Must of been restricting the fuel flow massivley!! Dont think its ever been changed when it was on the GTE, After fitting the new one it accelerates ALOT quicker now, just off a new fuel filter

And put her away for the weekend

Great updates mate, glad it's finally got a decent engine to match the exterior! It's great how much you love this car, hopefully that will never change :)

I was going to say that the only thing that lets it down is the engine bay but it looked cleaner in the last pics so maybe you've sorted that. I think this years main change to it would have to be a full GSi interior including black carpets, dash, etc. Then it would be perfect, but there's plenty of time to do things like that :)

Good luck with the insurance.

If i can source a GSI to break then ill be swapping the interior, same as the engine id want everything there before i do it, no half finished business or missing a trim here or a card there, i was thinking of colour coding the bumpers and getting the GSI tailgate and b-pillar vynal, but yet to decide

Well seen as how ive removed my sub setup (ONLY 18 year old with no sub in their car round here!) Ive decided a nice little touch would be to go all factory with the audio, so picked up these

Southie
16-03-12, 09:13 PM
The most up to date will be best due to wattage, the original head units were lacking in sound and distort when your tunes are banging lol

Do any of them have aux ports on the back to let you plug in at least a external feed through a headphone socket?

Ohh liking the headunits, i changed the old (broken) original headunit to an pioneer optional extra headunit out of an '84 micra. Only problem with mine is that the manual knob tuner is hard to get the radio stations, and with the tuner knob being the bigger one, i always use that one instead of the volume one lol.
How much did the headunits cost you, like the philips one? Heres mine, looks awesome at night as the whole thing lights up in the old orangy light and looks so retro lol.

Since the photos were taken, ive now got a black parcel shelf, the rear seat brackets have been welded in properly so now the seats lock in and also the bases tilt forward like their supposed to, only thing i need to do now is paint my boot plinth black to match everything, then it should be around MOT time, but seen as how i work in a MOT garage im not really worried about it failing lol

Thats all for now folks, what do you think? Improvement? :thumb:

Well heres the rest of the update guys,

My mates old beige shelf he gave me as i didnt want to ruin a perfectly good desirable grey shelf

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/2012-03-31133035.jpg

After loads of coats of black aerosol, came out perfect! (note the boot panel that still needs painting black)

60/40 brackets fitted top and bottom

Didnt like how the car was sitting since the XE has weighed the front down alot, this is how it sat on -60mm rears

Not painting the wheels other than siver, im not a fan of white black or grey wheels tbh, Bumpers will be staying grey for the time being untill i save up enough to do a full GSI exterior, vynals GSI decals etc

She is VERY loud, after looking a little closer it appeas the centre section has been cut open and re-welded shut, most probabley to remove the baffles inside, but boy does it sound nice! :thumb:

Anyway the Mistrals are now re-fitted, back end has settled nice and put my red/clear rear lights back in, plans next are sort the split CV out and fit a high vis brake light, and them a damn good clean as shes not been cleaned since the engine :thumb:

Looking nice Dave, like your mates car, very nice! As for the ecu, you will notice a slight gain in the revs and extra pull/torque etc from about 3krpm to 5krpm i will imagine, but it wont be any massive difference over all, just bit better to drive when drove hard.

Glad you decided against the speedlines, they dont look as good and they need to stay on that 5 door to make it look half decent.

Not keen on the spoiler :( but everything else is 100% perfect. Would be a shame to spray the bumpers white and make it a full rep as it looks great as it is. When do you turn 19 so you can drive it?

Not updated this in nearly a year!!! Crazy how time flies!

Only a small update, strut brace i had fitted was ridiculously cheap and tacky, Fouled the power cap massively and restricted engine movement. After seeing one that i knew would fit around the engine as it is set up (OMP style brace) I purchased it off eBay, it was in need of some serious refurbishment

As it came:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC_0417_zps15b8572e.jpg (http://s61.photobucket.com/user/x_novadose_x/media/DSC_0417_zps15b8572e.jpg.html)

In need of some love, paint flaking off due to being poorly prepped and painted white, also seized solid adjustment bolt as you can see

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC_0418_zps21b5d23c.jpg (http://s61.photobucket.com/user/x_novadose_x/media/DSC_0418_zps21b5d23c.jpg.html)

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC_0419_zpse967ca48.jpg (http://s61.photobucket.com/user/x_novadose_x/media/DSC_0419_zpse967ca48.jpg.html)

Anyways after lots of hours of stripping, heating, un-seizing and painting in my new work (HGV bodyshop) it was rstored to its former glory... and i uncovered the old girl from the garage to fit it

Old brace... cheap and tacky

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC_0478_zps3b226765.jpg (http://s61.photobucket.com/user/x_novadose_x/media/DSC_0478_zps3b226765.jpg.html)

New brace fitted

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC_0479_zps6d67ca62.jpg (http://s61.photobucket.com/user/x_novadose_x/media/DSC_0479_zps6d67ca62.jpg.html)

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC_0482_zpse8128967.jpg (http://s61.photobucket.com/user/x_novadose_x/media/DSC_0482_zpse8128967.jpg.html)

Now you may all be thinking ''Why on earth are you spending money on a car you can't insure and has been sat in the garage for the last 2 years''... well i turn 21 in 5 months, so i can then get temp insurance cover for the summer months, and i also reach the start of the insurance prices coming down for me too, although i have since aquired 3 more points in March :( but we will see...

We'll see what happens :thumb:
