had a fair bit of progress today, finally sorted out my indicators on the digi dash, all working ready for the mot now lol

anyways, yesterday andy (twistysnovagte) sold me some genuine black nova lights for ?10, bargin1 lol, anyways id be silly to refuse, so fitted them, i love them personally, what do you think?

im popping the original lights in for the mot, so its got fog reverse etc, better to be safe than sorry :thumb:

all it needs is the cv boot on the o/s, i fixed my digi dash friday, wired it up wrong lol, it also needs 1 bolt in the seat but ive got that so thats not an issue, we're going to send it for its mot without the new front panel on first, see if it passes, if not then we'll replace it, but we know the mot station owner so...... lol

this week got a number of jobs to do

sort the digi dash out for the mileage, nothing "illegal" here :thumb:. needs sorting because all the mot's say like 41000 miles, 45000 miles, and it wouldnt go upto 160000 miles in a year lol

swap the rear lights back to the twin fogs, i like the itnts but the euros do look better, plus theyre mot passable :thumb:

fit my new o/s cv boot, it needs doing as its split completley now, and is throwing up gunk all underneath

fix my seat as one of the subframe bolts is missing, so you can effectivley rock forward and back on it

and sods law as usual the batterys going to be flat as ive got a huge drain onit somewhere, and im s*it scared of batterys so it looks like alot of pushing lol

Mine passed with 2 fog lights but they were both working, because there only supposed to have one they only need one working one as the reverse doesnt get checked

No reverse light is needed for uk roads/mot.

BUT if you have 2 fog lamps, and only one is working, that may be a fail imo...
As there are two fitted, even if only one is needed.....

Its the "if its not there it cant be tested" kind of rule.

checked up on the lights, if theres no reverse light it isnt tested, and by law only 1 fog has to work, even if theres 2 only 1 has to, so going to just put the fog light in and hope she passes, if not then its only a light swap, standard light, there and then, reverse bulb in, sorted

first job was to do the cv boot, up she went on the forklifym wheel off, shaft out, boot on, re-greased, shaft on, wheel on, hey presto

ive been over her about 9 10 times, found more little easy fix things every time, like break light bumb, main beam dash light blown etc, all sorted now :D:D:D

Nice work on the cv boot.
Did you remove the shaft from the gearbox too?(remember gear oil refill if you did)

Ive spotted a potential mot failure tho.
You have a single outlet screen washer bottle to the windscreen.
But your boot has a wash/wiper fitted. The wiper/wash needs to work for mot, so you need a dual outlet washer bottle ;)


Oh and lifting the car on forklift rails surely cant be doing the chassis any good..

the wipers never worked, its just been there for show, been told by one of the testers it doesnt matter, if theres no switch for it on the wiper stalk it doesnt need to be tested, as it cant be :thumb:

well well well, what a day.............

started off this morning at 9, me and ash (good mate) started to fit my immobiliser, anyway "have you got the diagram dave?" oh testicals, so after 10 mins of hunting on the interweb we finally found one..

then big gra off here same down in his capri, he has returned to mova-ism thank god, and i remembered we were to go upto the scrappy to get him a track rod end and wisbone, so off we went, while ash very kindly kept fitting the immobilier for me.

anyway after an hour or 2 we finally got back, to find ash ahd fitted the immobilier ignition bit and had it all working, ace i thought, then it was time to attack the coil system

took us 10-15 mins to wire it into the coil, so now it wont crank or bump start without the immobilier de-activated, brilliant, its now got a 7mm chain that goes round the wheel, a alarm and an immobiliser, she aint going anywhere lol

anyway got her out and about, to only find that for some reason the interior light was stuck on, so out with the light switch box, afew scratching of heads later and we foudn we had wired the earth up rwrong, DOH!

anyways after we fixed that, the fog light had blown its fuse, so in with a new one, and that one blew instantly, some sort of c0cked up wiring, anyways we fixed that, it was a iffy connection

then we got her out in the open again, only to find she was running extreamly rough around 1000-2000 revs, so back into the garage she went

out with the feeler blades, had about 5 people working round the car to set the points up, roucking it forward etc in 4th, for some reason the points had gone out by miles, quick twist of the screwdriver and hey presto, sorted!

had a quick blast in her, and she's still got a bad misfire, see video below

we checked over it friday afternoon, found a nuber of things that need sorting for the mot, steering, wheels need balanceing again etc, plus a good matw of mine at work, his dad passed away wednesday, so weve ha dno cover, and my cousin's uncle commited suicide this weekend.. not a good weekend for some...

electrician came down monday whilst i was at school, checked it over for me, made sure the dash, alarm immobiliser etc is all wired in properly, i had something like a 0.002 amp drain on my battery, but apparently a interior lights like 2.10 so im not borthered about that in the slightest lol, so nipping to vauxhalls soon for a new battery

the weekend of the 10th febuary me and my dad are checking it over all weekend, ensure theres nothing it can fail on, then sometime in the week of the 11th its going to the mot test cenetr to get mot'd, hopefully shell pass first time

im currently on the lookout for 2 door skins and prehaps a full passenger rear 1/4 as im unsure if i should completley replace the rear 1/4 s its full of bog, or just simply sand it down and spray the whole 1/4

anyway, toying about with photoshop, this is what i want her to look like, anyone selling a set of euro clears, b pilalr vynal or gsi door stickers get in touch lol :thumb:

today removed the 2 rear square png stickers from the side windows, 4 does now lol.. and also FINALLY!! got some nova mats off BigStam :thumb: top lad, anyway whacked them in this afternoon, then twistysnovagte came and got my old ones out of a cavalier, l also i sepnd a good half an hour plishing my silver oil cap, look minted now :thumb:
oh and also nabbed a battery cover off a mk3 astra lol

what.. a...... day... lol

started off today with a rather long plish all over lol, took baout 2 hours lol, then mike (last of the nova sr's) came and picked up his dash and purchased a rather minty astra while he was here lol. anyway parked her up outside and dad noticed a puddle under the car, he said pop your bonnet dave, turns out ive got a funked water pump due to it being started and left running alot.. anyway off poped mike after a quick cuppa lol.. then the mot checks started

and this si what we found

new water pumo
new plugs
new leats
points setting
new steering rack

anlong with afew other bits

anyway quick trip to halfords got me a 1.0L water pump with about an inch of dust on it, and then off to the local motor factors for oil filter etc

well.. its started.. got all this done in 1 day

drivers door: ground the rust out, found 2 hoels the size of pin heads.. nothing atall.. all the door is structurally sound so we put a re-enforcement inside, and fiberglassed all the ground out rust.. onyl sorface rust. the 3 dents were then saned back , fileld and flattened off roughly with p80 paper for now as we are going to give ti a final layer of metallic filler instead of using normal body filler

drivers 1/4: took back some touch up paint to find soem rust, grinf it out and a lick of filler, sorted. also found some surface rust on the arch/sill corner, took it back to bare metal and a skim of filelr, sorted.

drivers wing: 2 dents took abck to bare metal and then filled and sanded

passenger door: ground the surface rust away, no holes atall but has had filler in it previously, took the filelr out and fiberglassed it, sanded down. sorted


passenger 1/4, what i thought was the worst.. was actually ok, took it back to bare metal, fiberglassed it, sanded it down and got correct shape, skim of filler and a sand, sorted. dent about half way up, nocked in abit, took back to bare metal, skim of filler, sand, sorted.

passenger wing: 2 dents took abck to bare metal, skimemd with filler, sanded. sorted
