would like to know how this is done becuase we tried for hours and the plug for the auxillery just seems dead all the time

Jack
26-05-08, 05:23 PM
Why? Just keep it permanent live... I find it annoying to have to keep my ignition on to listen to music.

Dave.
26-05-08, 05:37 PM
because it will drain my battery, well probabley run a wire from a live off through the auxillory and to the streo, create a whole new live wire :thumb:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC00684.jpg

took off my offside rear drum today to find soe nearly new break shoes, some nearley new bearings and a nearly new piston, great, but the handbreak cable was very abdley worn, but to my luck, i ahd a unknown cable in the car when i bought it, i thought id keep it as it was brand new and might come in handy, law and behold, the offside handbreak cable, big big bonus :thumb:

on it went
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC00686.jpg

put it back togeather, lock nut tight them cracked off abit, wheel on, quick slin with hands, not a sound, no rubing or anythign, great

then we tackeld, the nearside, were we coul hear some rubbing.. we diagnosed the problem quickly, leaky and siezed piston, when we were applying the foot break it wasnt retracting properly, therefor wedgeing itself open and rubbing ths break shoes down, not good, hopefully order a new one first thing tomorrow morning and have it late aftenoon

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC00685.jpg
the big cylinder shape thign lol

anyway, them we fitted the front ARB
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC00687.jpg

all in all a great day, gt rid of all the s*hit out the rear drums, re-greased, the nearside handbreak cable want all that old, so we left that, all we need to do is fit the new psiton and bleed the breaks, jobs a goodun

:thumb:

good stuff

Good mincing.
When you tightened the rear hub bolt, did you use the haynes guidelines? making sure the washer behind the nut can still move?

well ihave created a dash pod for a flip out dvd player for where the center vents usually are, its been fibreglassed.. had many skims of filler, and is currently at my work experience work getting sprayed for me :thumb:

will upload pics of it and a step by step guide too.. think its going to look awsome :thumb:

Dave.
05-07-08, 03:09 PM
well.. here goes..

it srated off as this, got the basic shape with some tape
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC00855.jpg

skim of fibreglass..
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC00875.jpg

then took it to work.. found out that it wouldnt stick to tape atall.. ripped it off and did it properly..
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC00876.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC00877.jpg

after the first skim of filler..
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC00878.jpg

Dave.
05-07-08, 03:12 PM
gave it 1 more skim.. and then fileld some pinholes..painted it rover hurricane grey.. and this is the finished result..

you wont see that little uneven bit on the bottom left once the dvd players fitted btw.. :thumb:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC00879.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC00885.jpg

think the colour is the closest im going to get.. it does look awsome.. i need to chop the vent pipes at the beck abit and remove a big un-nessecary buldge of cardboard backing on the dash.. doesnt do anything.. its not even part of the dash haha

anyway.. she went out in the rain!!!

You went up in my book then with the skills on that DVD player thing but then finding out your going to just leave anothr cd player in the other hole has made you drop a level.

I would do something creative with that other hole like get a cd player cage smooth it with filler and fibre glass on inside then use it to store a cd wallet in.

well not updated in ages so got some stuff done

the day ebfore i go on holiday a nova turns up at the garage... no insurance instant scrap.. im gutetd.. but i owe a huge thanks to mally who kept the WHOLE car for me for 2 weeks!!!

anyway me and twistysnovagte took the window frames, airel, door cards, rear arch carpets, c pillar trims, petrol cap, fusebox cover, steering shroud, and afew other little bits

anyway i only really needed the c pillar trims.. so fitetd these as for some reason mine didnt have them..

before:

after (note the covered up switch hole as it didnt fit right):

110% improvement :thumb:

anyways i decided that after 2 years of oily and muddy abuse inside.. the car needed a well earned professional valet:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC01002.jpg

the seats are grey again!!

anyway with a little help with Mark (novacabrio) managed to trace my car back to tis original dealership, turns out it was from A.E.CLegg in Worchester, i knew i had no chance of getting an old dealer sticker, so managed to make a pretty decent one on the computer, took me a long time and is imo exactly the same as the old ones (or froma round the same time lol)

Sorry dave, just my opinion :)

21-09-08, 08:50 PM
i had the 150 bike also..was pretty fast but started having shots on cr125's/kx250's etc and they are so much better. dont feel like your going to fall off doing 60mph through a field.;) i had my mates farm to play on..river banks, forests, fields, gravel tracks..was brilliant..had about 5 of us with bikes/quads. got a bit dangerous tho.. we got the tractors and digger to make jumps.lol

Dave.
05-10-08, 11:27 PM
nova hasnt moved for 2 months, tried to turn it over wasnt having any of it, battery died instantly again!... popped it on charge, tried turning it over, cranked for about 15 seconds then started up on all 4... doesnt sound long but that garage gets very cold so suprised it did lol.. usually takes the trucks longer in the mornign

anyway 2 pics, mainly to show how big my bike is and how the nova now lives... slowly getting blocked in lol

Your nova looks awesome dave dont loose motivation with her, if she going to be laid up over winter in that unit id suggest a visit to your local shoe shop and see if they have any silica gel sachets you can beg or steal (quite a few as theyre only small) and scatter them about inside your car, boot, back seats, front seats and footwells.

This will stop the insides condensing up/becoming damp and going mouldy over winter which it will in a cold storage place like that!

Dave.
20-10-08, 01:01 AM
well this weekend i thought id take the bull by the horns and get her out for the first time in afew months. tax is up soon so she'll be getting sorn'ed for t'winter :D

anyway, got her out.. had a little blast, forgot how much of a smile it put on my face, only been 2 months but still... got carried away and managed to slide the front end around whilst doing a quick wheelspin lol

well the novas being neglected recently so me and Graeme Dixon set about helping its stopping power

started the other week when we were out in Graeme's 1.2 and he "showed" me how good his breaks were. after nearly dying of whiplash i thought to myself "gotta get me some of those" lol

luckilly Graeme was getting rid of his the week after, so today, he very kindly came down for me with them and even did most of the fitting for me lol. only downside to the day was his water pump breaking but mission-o-scrappy-scav is all set for tomorrow :thumb:

anyways, heres the old little things:
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC01424.jpg

after then bombing to mallys to get some of the retaining wire clips to hold the sliders i think? on.. we fouund that Graeme's water pump decided to elt go..DOH! anyways got us abck and we continued with the job.

plonked the new discs and callipers on after removing the backing metal sheild thing (grooved.. snazzy!):
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC01425.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC01426.jpg

and the finished products.. pics are crap:

well tested out the 2l breaks today... in the wet!

they lock up at about 25 if you really puch down hard, but if you just lightly tap them then they still give you whiplash lol

one of the best modifications so far imo.. well worth £20. got greenstuff pads and grooved discs too lol.... off to a&e now due to extensive whiplash lol :thumb:

Why didnt you just fit the flip up screen inside the glove box then it would of been hidden out of site untill you wanted to see by opening the glove box.
Much more secure and would of looked alot btter mate imho. But at the end of the day it is up to you.

the screen flips up at a 90* angle and cannot lean any more back, therefure the unit would have to be right up close to the lid, when i tried this the lid kept hitting the front of the unit :thumb:

well after someone very annoyingly reversed into the nova sometime last week, im now left with this, and the repair bill:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC01521.jpg

not happy atall :(

anyays been chopping up my old spare poverty doorcards to fit speakers,:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC01505.jpg

speakers out of a scrap clio:
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC01506.jpg

finished and fitted passenger one:
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC01520.jpg

didnt like it, so re-fitted my old speakerless ones lol

them got a gearknob off a clio, fitted that:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC01524.jpg

thought, nahh too chav lol, get a grip dave!

so, none of the above mods, except the lovely big 1/4 scrape, have been kept lol

also, got this in for no-insurance on wednesday i think:
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC01504.jpg

came and collected it the same day, was quite clean except for a huge dent on the drivers door-1/4, he had a wee look round mine, thought the digi dash was awsome, and the 5 words that made my day.."bloody minter that!, absoloute minter!"

thats it folks lol :thumb:

true but its not cost me much anyway lol

also im goign to attempt to make some sort of fibreglass and filler mould so that it can sit where the original mk2 stereo sits, something that brings it forward abit if you get me :thumb:

Ernie
08-02-09, 09:16 AM
i thought that aswell.
He has done all this work and no fag lighter yet.

All he has to do is get one from a breakers (even the hole astra set up then just fit to his.

The wires are there and already wired up as just about to fit one into the track car for if i do any shows in it.
This way i can plug the sat nav in.

Dave.

looks so much nicer now. the glovebox idea was never going to work, with that, the door speakers and gear knob it seemed to me you were very bored and wanted to try new things. the problem you have is the car is near perfect and doesnt give you much else to do.

keep it clean and have the best nova out there for a new driver (dont think you've past your test have you? sorry if you have, i didnt want to read through 168 repetative pictures of the same thing Lol).

in the meantime work on that red thing you bought lol

got a red mk2 1.3 at the garage thats getting scrapped tuesday, so going down monday night tos trip it

getting fag lighter & loom, top middle dash but to fit clock, rear shelf supports and afew other bitss :thumb:

Dave.
08-03-09, 05:05 PM
well got some btis of that nova last week, including propper shelf supports and afew other bits

anyways i fitted my shelf supports as mine were just chopped mk2 ones over poverty mk1 card blank bits lol. also placed my boot plinth on to see what it looks like, hopefully drilling and fitting it through the week :thumb:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC01719.jpg

also got a dash clock, but i didnt like the fact that it had circular points on the face, i thought it didnt look right against the digi dash

so took it apart, removed the plastic face and fitted a clear piece made from a dorito's dip lid lol, also painted the needles silver

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC01720.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/sub%20album/DSC01721.jpg

and also removed the dvd player and re-fitted my old headunit. looks miles better imo, plus dvd unit was too easy to steal, id rather have it to use later on in a propper car rather then it get nicked.

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC00251-1.jpg

thats all for now, hopefully get the scratch fixed soon and then shes going in for her mot in afe weeks :thumb:

all you do dude, is simply cut the hazard hole out, so your basically left with a huhe hole where the clock and switch should be, then you have to file down the clocks slightly, then you have to chop a fair bit off the cavalier surround bit to make it fit

next time im at the garage, ill get some pictures for you, really really easy to do, if you know what yoru doing, take afew nights tops :thumb:

Then FINALLY managed to get hold of some red tint spray thanks to a awsome dude off ehre (Cheers Graeme, i owe you one big time) so i masked off the inditator lens and the black outer btis of my clear rear lights, and got spraying:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02191.jpg

I wasnt too sure what they would look like on the car, but as i unmasked them and started fitting them, i knew they were by far the best set for the car:

Well not ha dmuch time or space to do much to the beast lately, as shes now at the hose, im limited to tools, plus her battery's flat and she has a mega flat tyre :( might jack it up to avode tyre sidewall damage

Anyway, its given me chance to try out my I.T skills, bought a cheap satnav the othe rmonth and over the past few weeks, been editing and done alot of head-bashing lol

So now, when you turn the SATNAV on, t coems up with this:

Yeap, looking at it now its supposed to go through one of the holes on the spokes.

Its so if it tried to be barelled, then they either need a grinder, or a big ass pair of bolt-cutters lol

Nothing as of yet, its currently off the road in storage and has been since the unit fire last year

Going to whack 6 months tax on it in May, then going to insure it from my Birthday, and hopefully stick on my L plates and go driving with my old man and get some practice in :d

Going to try and get her fired up tomorrow, will fit the new Stereo aswell, then pop my L plates on and wait for another 9 days :D

New stereo, needed one with Ipod conenction as theirs no way im driving round without my Ipod after having a dvd player in the Corsa lol, thought it looks very smart aswell, and will go well with the dashboard. Reason i liked my old one was it looked retro, hopefully this one will look right at home
