well yesterday i measured the distande between the front wheen tyre and the arch, it works out at 7cm!! so will defonatley be dropping it 60 on the front, but i need to sort all my stuff out in my boot, ive got a peco exhaust, 2 gsi spoilers, various clocks, loads of cleaning stuff and large k&n's, so ill have to chuck loads of parts next week, or store them somewhere

when off tp pv this year, i am after buying some 60mm springs and shocks, as ive found someone who will sell me some 40 rears

Driver
29-04-07, 06:47 PM
2 gsi spoilers, various clocks

any GSi clocks ???? NOT GTE ?

Dave.
01-05-07, 11:57 PM
nope, i had a set of black gsi clocks .. but theyve been used to make this..

had a spare set of gsi clocks and sri clocks, and i really liked the gsi speedo and rev counter faces, so i swapped the faces with the sri ones, giving me a full black set of dilas, but with no oil or battery gauge
very happy ith the result, and think they look brilliant

what do you think? now i can swap back whenever i feel like a change, they only show 22498 aswell

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC00285.jpg

Adam
02-05-07, 12:31 AM
You swapped just the faces?

Should i just swapped the whole speedo/tacho like I said,Lol. As that way means you haven't got to get the speedo needle off etc.

Dave.
02-05-07, 05:23 PM
nope, i undid the 2 screws on the back of the speedo and the 3 nuts on the rev counter, and just swapped them around

Dave.
06-05-07, 12:07 AM
well as you all have seen ive had some mk1 sr rainbow seats delivered (cheers gra) cant complain for ?40 inc delivery, although the bolster has had a shoddy reapir dome, so might cut away and re, blend it in before i fit them

anyway not much prigress this weekend, just ended up seeing how quick i could get it over 100 yards ,put my gsi/sr clocks in and took delivery of the seats, couldnt fit the seats as lew had taken the sr rollers off, that adapts to make them fit to the floor , so hopefully ive sourced a set at the local scrappers

anyway. some pics of the clocks and of the seats, the old clocks said i had 1/4 of a tank/ now i have 3/4, im well chuffed

also when gra delivered the seats, he took me for a wee spin in his, god it shifts for a 1.4, just needs afew tidying up bits here and there, although he said mine was "bloody minter that dave"

06-05-07, 04:49 PM
i think this nova is very cool! like it alot dave.

my advice would be a gsi bumper (or even blue or red stripes round your own bumpers),

lowered 60mm and i think thats it..

will be a really cool nova in my opinion.

vaughanmc
06-05-07, 04:50 PM

08-05-07, 07:21 PM

Dave.
10-05-07, 03:46 PM
well going to try and get the seats in this weekend.. then draper has found me a 60mm lowering kit hes taking to pv for me... and hopefully big gra will be selling me some part worn 195 45 tyres.. so it wont rub
will update pics once the seats are it :thumb:

Dave.
10-05-07, 03:53 PM
yeap the tax is fake.. but my dad uncles and auntie know all the bobbies in the area.. allways pop in for a cup of tea etc.. so they dont really mind lol. noone seens to notice really. its really there for show

it looks real because its a photoshoped tax. then ive cut the reflective bits out and put a old real one behind it.. it does look very real.. especially in the rain

Dave.
11-05-07, 07:19 PM
well today got some sr subframes.. has 1 bolt missing out of the 8, one of the allen key ones, might have a go at welding it on in 1 corner.. so hopefully the seats will be in tomorrow ladys and gents :thumb:

Dave.
12-05-07, 11:21 PM
lol.. not wrong there jim

put the front seats in today.. 99% satisfied.. apart from the fact the drivers moves about about 4mm and theres no seatbelt catch on the drivers... other than that ok lol

also me and my dad planned about lowering it.. going for 40 rear and 60 front we think.. but were going to try to make the 50 r15 tyres fit..

also got a locking petrol cap.. looks and works ok.. so well chuffed

pics of the seats.. smarten it up alot

Front seats suprisingly match the rear poverty ones!

You need 45 profile tyres for looks not for scrubbage

Dave.
13-05-07, 12:48 AM
i prefer the 50 tyres.. they suite the car more.. will have to wait and see
but once its lowered it will look 100x better

Jack
13-05-07, 09:16 AM
Seats look good. Tax disk is still a serious issue though! Where's that number for DVLA lol

If I was you, use the ?500 on brakes, suspension, a decent exhaust and some subtle styling goodies - SR window frames would look nice. That money should go a long way and get you some good bits, perhaps even keep an eye out for a bigger engine.

05-06-07, 08:08 PM
no mate thats where the speedo cable go's aint it? cos i thought even tho its digi you still have a manual speedo cable?

edit: or maybe it is a bulb holder as there looks to be no way of clipping a speedo cable to it?

vaughanmc
05-06-07, 08:09 PM
I was going to say the same but didn't want to sound daft if it was wrong lol

greg1.4
06-06-07, 08:25 AM
oh, should look really good with them parts on her. skirts dont take long to put on, digi dash will only take 2 hours.. stuts and springs are a piece of piss (45 mins to an hour).. come on get the pics up. cant wait to see this lowered and have skirts on her.:thumb:

how much were the struts and springs? i sold my set for ?90 with a 40mm kit on it. dont know if i got the good deal or if the guy that bought it from me did..

Greg

06-06-07, 10:05 AM
The centre blub is impossible to find, you don't need it, it just for extra illumination, i think it may alos of been where the speedo cable goes on the ultra rare analoge astra GTE clock.

Dave.
06-06-07, 04:28 PM
full 60mm kit was 70 but the rear springs havent arived yet.. if they dont then i cant lower it

Ernie
06-06-07, 04:50 PM
as said above no bulb goes in there and with a digi dash it has a transduser instead of a normal cable driven speedo.

Dave.
06-06-07, 05:12 PM
ye ive got the correct trans.. waiting for it to be fitted now

Iain
06-06-07, 05:37 PM
You can still fit the front shocks... GO GO GO.

greg1.4
06-06-07, 08:19 PM
aye come on.. i really want to see pics of this lowered and skirts on it...

get the front struts on (really easy), take some pics, then get the back end jacked up and new struts in place but not properly on etc then as soon as you get the springs put them in place then tighten everything up and get her on the deck and take her for a drive to settle it then get PICS!!!

i am probably more excited than you dave.lol lol

Driver
06-06-07, 11:23 PM
slap fronts on and start the rear ie slap dampers on and keep it jacked up for springs

Dave.
09-06-07, 09:47 PM

Sounds like a plan that! Just FFS dont use crappy Delco brakes (Solid disc's, mainly found on SR's etc), the pad retaining pin's seize and get stuck in the caliper

And some new alloys so you can sell me your current ones :thumb: lol

you mean on my blue mk1? that was a standard light but with duc-tape over the fog bit lol

Dave.
07-07-07, 09:50 PM
well today held some good news and some bad-ish news lol

started off this morning by doing my strut brace.. went on first time really happy.. pic

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC00439.jpg

then the worst came..

went to take my old backbox off.. it was stuck on.. took us an hour to get it off.. and by then it was butchered.. so threw it.
then we went to put the new peco bb4 on.. and sods law.. it didnt f***in fit.. completley wrong shape and pipe.. so we had no exhaust.. no backbox and a slit finger.. ace.. not
anyway.. ages ago i had a peco exhaust with a flame tip.. and i thought it fitted a nova.. but never got round to fitting it to my mk1.. as it was shortly scrapped after that.. so i stuck it on the roof of the office
anyway.. i got it down and we tried to fit it.. and law and behold.. it did.. came out on a dodgy angle and stuck out about 2 inches but it fitted.. just
after 2 hours of playing around with it.. we managed to get it to fit without knocking on the axel.. which was a bonus.. then we set about making a custom hander to hold it on... fitted fine.. was well happy
took it over the first speedbumb.. clang it fell off the hanger.. at this point dad was well p**sed off lol
anyway we got it back up and realised we handt bent the bracket back up.. bent it up and jobs a goodun :thumb:
took it for a drive.. and the sound is amazing.. sounds brilliant and cant complain for free.
it will be staying on.. as im not driving around with no backbox lol

Good choice in side repeaters too.

I have to admit, its starting to look pretty tidy mate. Theres a lot of kids your age who would set about ruining a car like that, fair play!

At this point you just need to work out where the stop line is, and I think its getting close, especially for insurance reasons, if nothing else.

if you want a pointer, the best thing you could do now is find another engine, and take it to bits, and then put it back together again with new bits, with the help of a hains manual. Youl learn a hell of a lot, and if you do a pukka job, youll have a fresh engine for it when your ready to start driving.

Just a thought, but i did something similar and I learnt loads!

SRimon
07-07-07, 10:21 PM
i even think its gonna look better without a GSi front too...

Leave it as is, get some 45 profile tyres later on, and job done, maybe do like BT says, but when you put it back polish/paint it all up, like kev_turbo's engine bay!

At this point you just need to work out where the stop line is, and I think its getting close, especially for insurance reasons, if nothing else.
TBH in terms of insurance, its already now "modified", so more mods aren't going to make that much difference (engine conversions and what not aside). Assuming the current mods are already listed!

i also think when im older, im going on a traders policy but going to put my car down as work and personal use.. because i want to go into vehicle recovery i have to be insured to drive the trucks.. and all the employees cars are down for work and personal use.. so i should be ok when i come to insure it.. plus i wont have to pay anything either lol :thumb:

you do know you will have to be 21 before you can drive trucks and wagons! and must have a class 3 license! i would love to go into recovery, was thinking about joining the army and doing it, because in the armed forces you can get your class 1,2 and 3 licence when your 17!! :thumb:

I have to admit, its starting to look pretty tidy mate. Theres a lot of kids your age who would set about ruining a car like that, fair play!

At this point you just need to work out where the stop line is!

Spot on couldnt of said it better myself, youve came along way since you had that blue mk1 dont feel you have to keep on adding things to the white one. Whats stopping you from starting another project? or building an engine for when youve got some driving years behind the wheel :D
