Well as some of you might know, and others of you do know, I needed to buy a new shell to put my engine and other goodies i had racked up over the years into/onto as the old Silk Violet one had got too rotten to bring back to life at a coast effective level.
Rotten Silk Violet Shell (http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87743)
So i thought about it for a long time, and i was very close to selling the lot...but though well i will never do it again if do as it will coast loads to gather all the parts again etc.
So off i went on the hunt for a new shell...
I looked into buying Matt2107's old GTE shell, but it meant spend loads getting it prepped, so i though of going for a small 1lt shell, but again theres the coast of extra plating/welding to put into it (i cant weld, so i would of had to pay some one)
So i kept on looking, i had silly offers form some members on here (i wont name them) who tried to sell me a 1.2 shell for ?1100 saying it was the most mint nova i could find!
I was not after that, just needed something solid that would last.
At this point i had almost given up again, so i put the word out to mates that the engine was for sale, so a few came to look at it, but i could not get it running right (another reason i wanted shot) so i left it alone for a week or so, then i spoke to Dar online, he offered to come up and see if he could get it up and running right,The next weekend Dar came to mine and within a few hrs of him getting to mine he had it running nicely..
So now im thinking Hummm do i really want to sell it if it's working alright??
So the hunt was back on for the shell! And funny thing was that same weekend while i was up at a mates in Leeds i gave Chris (Chris 16v) a text asking him if he was about that night for a drink, he called me back and after a quick chat i had arranged with him and Dar to collect his shell!
One of many of Chris's WIP threads (http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45875)
More WIP of Chris's (http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46027)
So Dar got to mine the next week with his trailer and Chris_gsi came for the trip too..a few hrs later we arrived at Chris's and got about getting the car onto the trailer.

Top work!
Can I ask where the wiper mount was stolen from?
If you look on the bulk head there is a bracket that is not standard. I got the method from Bruce, it is a Mk4 Fiesta wiper motor mounting bracket, if you remove the plate from the standard nova one then it bolts straight up, it will need the linkage modifying though. Pretty straight forward though.
Chris
There you go mate i just whent and dug that out of one of his wip threads :thumb:

Would you rather have your missus white one (rust and all)
Or would you have your Silk Violet one (thats solid) ;)
Of course i miss my silk violet one, i loved that car, and it's color it was my first nova, i didn't really want to get another, but i always liked this shell when Chris had it, so im more then happy with it,its solid and will look fantastic once finished..:D

"IF" i was to go off into the kitty litter on track they wont get damaged, as normal ones are under the car etc, you could rupture the fuel line and risk fire on hot exhaust etc!;)

Another engine bay pic
http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/8286/dsc07785800x600uj6.jpg
Now some of the seats in.
In this pic you can also see the internal linkage that i got from my sh1t old Astra mk2 shell that the engine came out off over 3years ago lol
And the battery cut off that Dar placed in the dash.
http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/890/dsc07786800x600gk1.jpg
Then from the boot area, here you can see some of the relocated internal lines such as brakes and fittings etc,and the Red top30 dry cell battery in wheel well.
http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/6715/dsc07783800x600li9.jpg
Then from the drives side theres a pic of the dash (with some added switches ;) ) and my ebay bargain sparco wheel, you can see how the cage fits snug to the mk2 dash and the door bars are quite higher then SD cages.
http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/776/dsc07784800x600lb6.jpg
And a crap pic off my phone of the seats and sparco harnes's from a front on view.

So thats all the progress pic's upto date now.:)

Good work, This isnt far off now :D
The car is now running :D
I also put on the other coilovers and drove around in it. The brakes are binding so they need to come off and I hope its just the sliders that need cleaning up.
I only took a piccy of one of the built up coilovers so not really worth putting up. The car feels fast enough though!!

Is that your topmount on the shock in those pics? If it is it looks to be on upside down. C clip should be pointing at the shock not up as there is always a chance the clip could be popped out and cause a suspension failure.

i've noticed a few people seem to run them upside down, dar has his that was too
trackdaynova
07-01-08, 07:30 PM
I run them like that too :)
My personal reason for this, is 'CompBrake' who sold me them failed to mention that i'd either have to start by opening up the strut hole in the engine bay to get full adjustment, or I'd have to take my brand new eccentric top mounts, that I have correctly bought, for a Nova, to a machine shop to get the raised part machined down, to get full adjustment.
Both of which IMO, is shocking that they continue to sell such crap items knowing full well that they cannot be fitted with full adjustment.
So, just run them upside down, no chopping of engine bays, and no taking brand new items that are correctly bought, to be corrected! ;) no problems yet, and never heard of any either...
I run them like that too :)
how could i forgot about you too lol, as we was discusing this on msn, when you bought them lol

Mine were machine down and on my last car ran the other way up, i have been told by almost everyone who runs them that they should be used this way up, with the nipple down..so if it works alright for everyone els it'll do me too.
Scott
I have some that were made properly and the C clip is in the right place (not eccentric though). For some unknown reason the ones we get now have the C clip on the wrong side.
I've asked about how strong a C clip is and the answer was very. I've always ran mine this way and have never had a problem and I'm not exactly gentle. For example I snapped a brand new hub in less than a year but the topmounts have been in, taking all the abuse and off's for years now.
Yes I agree it looks wrong and the C clip should be on the other side. However they are more than strong enough for our use. If I was running a rally car in a forest stage I would get some made up properly but I/we arn't so there is no need.

I just thought if there was a chance of a failure in that area and it could be avoided then you would like to know about it.
My eccentric top mounts required no machining and were a straight fit.
See,s to be running very well on a base map! Mine was OK until you stabbed at the throttle and it would pop and bang!lol
I have a few maps for the XE, so let me know if you need anything!:thumb:

1) Work (i have to pay for things some how)
2) New Band that i have been placing together after departing the old one

it's all W.I.P at the mo as im too busy lol
3) New girlfriend...
But as for a small update..
I bought Christ T's old Leader coilovers of him as my AVO's have seen better days, but could be of some use to some one maybe?
http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/7348/dsc07876800x600uf2.jpg
Also bought his fuel swirlpot setup, front v6/286 brake setup,
but most important purchase was his old trailer.
Just got a few small things to get done then should be drivable and all legal on the road for a bit..
Scott

Got to Dar?s for 9.30am, fist things first a cupa tea, Cheers Charlotte..
So into the Garage we pop, Dar set me the task of removing the old 256 ATE setup, so I went about it in my own special way while Dar popped off to grab some break fluid (as Dar found out when he got back I wernt?t to sure how to get them off lol)
http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/415/15032008214smallea0.jpg
Then on went the 280mm Fiat Turbo drill & groove, with V6 caliper setup I got from Chris T, no probs, straight on and fit nice behind the speed lines.
(I forgot to take pics before the wheels went on, doh!)
http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/9589/15032008216smallnh5.jpg
Then after I split Oil all over the garage floor we strapped the Oil cooler I got off Ste into place (made a nice mod to the grill too to get clearance!)
http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/6683/15032008217smallqd3.jpg
Then the eBay bargain Hotwires HT leads went in, and after a bit of faffing with soaked plugs we got her started..

Then after i fixed the wings and bumper back on TEMP I went for a quick spin round the block in her, and I can say this is, and will be so much more faster, and fun then my old one?
EDIT: IF ANY ONE WANTS SOME ATE CALIPERS, AND 256 DISKS PM ME..

Well she came home last week on Friday (massive thanks to Ernie for that one) and has sat for a week as Ive been busy doing other things (was hard to do) in the back of my mind all Ive wanted is to get the dam running, so today i went about sorting a few things..
First off was to put a new back box rubber on, then pop to the petrol station and get some petrol,£6.20 lighter in the pocket and shoved that in, tried to start it, Na no way,Nada not happening! Soooo...... whipped the plugs out changed them over, tried again... VROOMMM! BRaappp! POP POP! we were in action!
I was happy to say the least..:thumb: :D
So i let run for a bit then popped up the road and put bit more fuel in.
Few things im not sure on, as Ive not had a quaife LSD diff before, are they/do they whine a bit like a straight cut box??
and the calipers are seizing on a bit, so they need to come off again, other then that it's just little things left to sort to make it road legal (but no hurry as Ive not the cash at the mo)
Other things left to get done though, is fit/plumb in the up-front swirl pot system.
Not sure where to mount it,and need to fined out what pipes go where on the swirl pot??
Was thinking something like this..
http://img372.imageshack.us/img372/1599/09052008362smallsp6.jpg
change wiper linkage, heater blower, and sort the dash, thats annoying me some times the rev gage works on start then nothing, and then the fuel and oil work when they like, then the speedo don't work at all! lol
Just nice to have a Nova again..:)

Scott, Mount the pump as close to the fuel tank as possible, they are are a push pump, not a pull pump. So they dont do a good job of sucking fuel from so far away from the tank.
Keith
Nice work Scott! and for info my quaife LSD is not noisey at all!
Keith, he has a low pressure pump for the rear and a high pressure one for the injector rail. The pluming for the low pressure pump is all in there. The pumps just need swapping. Then he can mount the high pressure pump in the engine bay.
Scott your car should not whine at all.
How loud is it?
Did it whine when you took it for a little spin when you where around mine?
My car started whining just before the box let gohttp://www.bikemagic.com/forum/smilies/confused_smiley.gif
It may be worth checking the gearbox fluid level. Although it was filled and it wasn't leaking. But well worth checking out all the same.
Nice to see you getting on with it.
At last lol.
scott.parker
10-05-08, 10:36 AM
Im in leicester again for the weekend, so i'll check the levels on the box when im home, it'soly very slight whine from it didnt notice it at yours dar.
scott.parker
16-05-08, 07:45 PM
Right....Brakes now sorted!
Gearbox noise, still not sure on it, i think it's just a combination of not having driven the car much and not knowing what it sound's like, as today when i tested the brakes (****ers locked on me lol they work alright) the noise was not so loud, so im thinking it might be just the fact i was not use to how god dam loud the car is etc..
So weather permitting i should get to give it a thrash this Sunday down Shakespeare race way! cant wait...

box in my old ZR had a "straight cut whine" for a day before i investigated it. found that the filler plug for the oil had fallen out and all the oil was pushed out the hole. refilled the box and sourced a new plug and it was fine.

scott.parker
17-05-08, 01:35 PM
Ok Chris, do you have my number? Dave and Christian are going up today, might see them later..
Craig after asking for some advise, everyone said it was more then likely the slide bolts, so instead of taking the calipers off the car (im too lazy for that)
i took the slide bolt's out one at a time from each caliper, cleaned round the seal where it goes into the caliper, and then rubbed the slide bolt slightly with a bit of 150 grit sand paper, and where there was any large digs/burrs i took the edge of with a screwdriver, then just give them loads of copper grease and popped them back in one by one,and hey-presto they work without sticking on after i take my foot of the pedal!

Scott-Do the fiat coupe disc's fit with using any washers(to space them), and without spigot rings?
Straight onto nova hub???
They fit on "but" i think they could do with some spigot rings, as they are pain in the ass when your taking and putting the wheels back on, you have to make sure to get them right (you cant use the securing screw like on GM disk's) before doing all the bolts back up, other then that there good, wonder if i can get some rings of ebay that will work?
Scott
Ive got some spigot rings, so will try them once the discs arrive :)
scott.parker
17-05-08, 07:40 PM
Yeah i might measure the o/d of the hub,and see what i/d it is i need the spigot to be, but they would need to be very thin, it's about 2mm max when the disk is centralized.

Good to see this old shell getting used again!
Chris (16v) kindly let me sit in the passenger seat of it at elvington a few years ago, can't remember the spec of the engine he had in it at the time but the only thing that caught us all morning was an elise with a lot of money spent on it! Unfortunately the tie-bar to crossmember bolts (the 2 long ones) dissappeared on the left shortly before lunch, resulting in the left front wheel wobbling about a fair bit and the afternoon spent generally mincing around after 10 laps in my SR, which still had the 1.3 in it back then (that overheated a month or so later to the point it boiled the oil on the M1).

Ah!... That might explain the damged front wing thats on the car? lol
I think the damage to the front wing was the result of Chris 'modifying' it because it caught on some slicks he was running.

I don't think they will work as intakes. Probably more effective as vents. However your engine bay has good ventilation for hot air.
Are you sure you want to put them on?
trackdaynova
20-01-09, 07:57 PM
look at the shiiiiiiiiiiiiine on that bonnet!
first pic looks be best from an asthetic point of view :thumb:
but obviously definately not from a performance gain as they're going either side of the throttlebodies.
to maximise air in, the intake could do with being more towards the front of the bonnet, so the air runs along the top of the rocker
scott.parker
20-01-09, 09:21 PM
Hummm.. OK i see your point Dar, i was just looking to try use them, plus i liked the idea of trying something different (dropped vent/scoop) instead of a big scoop poping up from the bonnet surface, but i guess i could fit a proper scoop instead??? ah im stumped now lol

Right, so i had some time today to get the car running again (had not been started for 6-7 months) so i popped and bought some new coolant for the engine, i fitted the header tank back in,been out since the summer when i cleaned it up,as it had been scummy from some rad weld.
So once that was in i flushed the system through with the hose pipe, then put the new coolant in, I was nicely surprised the car fired first time no probs! gotta love them RedTop batteries!
I have a AX wiper motor setup on it's way, i will fit that, then remove the iffy setup thats on it now.
Then i need to address the sticking calipers, by getting them off and greasing behind the pistons.
Then theres a few wiring issues etc to look into.
Here's a few pics, and a vid of it running. :thumb:

I think with your calipers if you remove the pistons, give them a funking good clean up and reinstall them they should be fine. Not sure i would be going near them with grease though as you might be risking the posibility of contaminating the brake fluid.
scott.parker
23-02-09, 11:16 PM
Oh, OK I'm not sure where i got the idea of the copper grease round by the piston seal, the idea was though to give them that "right old clean out"
lol go back a few pages! i sanded them/greased them prior to going out to test it at shaky race way, then found the car was dipping badly between gear changes, hence the 15-15.5 runs
So it's more then likely the pistons are sticking on.
Scott
Oh right, never saw that.
Chances are the piston has rusted, hence sticking slightly

Right..... after some reserch i have found what im hoping to be the problem, on MIG i have seen a thread that details how if the calipers are V6 Vectra they work with288x25mm thik disc's, but the Cav/Calibra Turbo use 284x24mm
Well the Fiat disc's are 284x22, meaning the fiat disc is too thin to use with Vectra V6 calipers that use a 288x25mm disc, Spoke to Chris Tunaclif, who the set up use to belong to, and he think the calipers are Vectra ones.
So...the only thing i can do is to set the calipers off from the hub carriers arround 3mm withe some spacer/washers, as i belive the caliper is basicaly always touching on the inside/back of the disk as there not offset right!
(could also do with some way of spacing out the inner pad 2mm,but with something that wont depress over time undere presure)
I'll get and do this today (i hpoe, just need to find a spacer)
Then if there is still issues, ill look into vaux disc's.
Ballach or what lol
I think willwoods/hi spec's will be on my wish list :D

So after finding out what I thought was the problem this morning I set about fixing it!
Did the near side first I loosened the wheel nuts, and jacked up the car took the wheel off, I then realised I had some small C/S grub screw/bolts to hold the disc’s on (got them from work with this in mined)
http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/5766/dscf0198small.jpg
http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/8038/dscf0197small.jpg
Any way onto the brake problem, I first undone the slide bolts and wound them to almost out, then undone the bolts that attach the calliper onto the carrier.
I had to pop to Halfords as I forgot where I put the 7mm hex socket for the slide bolts, and I bought two bags of washers 13mm internal dia 1.5mm thick, these were doubled up to space the callipers 3mm from the hub carrier.
To get the two washers aligned I used telescopic magnetic reach tool thingy lol
http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/3998/dscf0191small.jpg
Was quite busy figuring it out on this side, so forgot to do before pics, but this is the near side done, so you can see the offset is almost central, where as before the carrier side was almost touching the disc!
http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/8968/dscf0196small.jpg
So that one done, I went round to do the off side.
lol Love how the side lifts cus of the cage!
http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/1018/dscf0206small.jpg
Grub screw in.
http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/4469/dscf0205small.jpg
Before pic off the offset.

Both set of washers in on the off side.
http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/6600/dscf0204small.jpg
You can see how much better the off set is now.
http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/4296/dscf0203small.jpg
http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/2743/dscf0202small.jpg
So i think i have solved the problem, as i took it a quick spin, and it seamed to be alot better, well it rolls after you let your foot off the brake, so it's got to have done something! :thumb: :D
more progress soon.
Scott
Good work. Im using fiat discs without a problem though.....
No spacing or anything.
If its sorted though, sound :)
scott.parker
01-03-09, 06:30 PM
What calipers do you have Adam, as it's only the Vectra calipers that wont work right, if you have Cav/Cali turbo one's it should be fine.
But yeah they seam sorted now, as you can see in the pic's though it was mega close before, and i think they were basicaly always pushing against the inside of the disc's.
Scott
Ahh, ive got turbo calipers...
how your explaining the problem, it does sound like an expanation. if the inside pad was fully pushing the piston into its bore, and still touching the disc, it would be binding....
its alive lol.
Nice to see some work done on this mate.
Keep it up now.

01-03-09, 06:41 PM
I know it's amazing, i have a brain, found this all out for my self! (just about, bashed my head on the front coilover when the bolt came loose!) and can use a socket set! lol

Close, as the pistons on the outside, and it's the pad thats on the carrier side (part of caliper that uses the sliders) as the offset was not right they were being kept against the inside of the disc,so when the piston side let go,the carrier side would not fully retract etc. :)
Hey ive learnt something! lol

Some people are lucky i guess!
EDIT: I guess it could be also down to what pads are used??
The pics show how the offset was before, and how it is now after the spacing.

lol if i ever get as bad as you or rick, then maybe!
Thats odd as mine was always fine with that setup with no spacers and i've had a few different makes of pads in too.
Glad to see your working on it again mate. Think you need to buy my satin black GSi bumpers too ;) lol

Lee, you got any pics of yours set up, like the top down pics i posted?
Not saying you dont know, but you sure yours were Vectra, and not the cav/cali turbo ones?

No pics but i'm sure they were, bought them new from V tuning years ago. Swapped them for turbo ones the other week to try and get a less spongy pedal.
scott.parker
03-03-09, 08:50 PM
See thats another thing, i heard some have had sponginess with the Vectra V6 calipers, but mine give a very very solid feel.
Scott
Mine weren't too bad until I fitted the rear disks and then I think it became too much for the Nova master cylinder to cope with.

09-03-09, 08:02 PM
So after finding out that Chris 16v had fitted a Ford wiper unit (in a bodged way) I decided I wanted to try fit some sort of better single wiper conversion, so I went for the AX bracket and linkage.
This is, or can be a straight swap as the motor’s are the same on nova’s, but as I mentioned mine now had a ford motor/wiring mounted to a ford bracket, so this meant I was left wondering how to get round it, so I thought I would use the ford motor in the AX bracket, but meaning I have had to extend the wiring.

10-03-09, 12:55 PM
So back out on the car today i decided to make a small cover from foamex to try keep some of the weather elements out/off the wiper set up.
http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/1336/dscf0224small.jpg
I also got the wires soldered up together and heat shrunk etc.
http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/4099/dscf0225small.jpg
I am pleased to say the motor works!
But not so pleased to say the wiper wont work as nob head opened up the hole on the linkage to fit the ford motor and now it's not gripping, so I'll have to weld a washer onto it or something! lol
Do that later or tomo as it's raining now.
Scott
Good work. Hopefully you can get the linkage working right :)
you should of said before starting all this mate as i should be off to the breakers this week and could of got you the zx linkage and ive got a propper nova motor some were in the lock up lol.
you could of had it for free.
scott.parker
10-03-09, 06:24 PM
So after ealier's cock up i rushed over to my mate Mike's (mikec123)
I took an assortment of washers and nova odds and sods to try rectify the linkage hole i drilled out to big.
So i found an old nova wiper arm end, welded the AX one to it, then hack sawed it off (i learned to weld *ish* as well) lol so it's not amazing but it's done the trick!
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/1201/dscf0226small.jpg
This ment it was working :) then i noticed the wiper arm was catching slightly on the window rubber, so i remover the arm and got modifying it!
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/4462/dscf0230small.jpg
Hack sawed two bits off either side that touched the window rubber.
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/5366/dscf0227small.jpg
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/4275/dscf0228small.jpg

So...now i can rip out that ****e ford bracket!
And to get the washer jets working again.

Thanks for the offer dude, your a god lad, always willing to help me out.
But i have to learn by my own mistakes (i have lol) and start getting on with things my self, im also starting to feel alot more into the car, as it's rewarding seing ive done some thing to it. :D
Scott
nice work on the wiper but check this out for a full single wiper sweep on my bad boy lol.

10-03-09, 06:48 PM
It's about the same mate, though mine is set to sweep it's max over the drivers side, I didn't do to bad eh! lol
Still need to do
Washer jets/lines??
Heater motor.
Then ive got a few things pland for inside.:thumb:
mine is at full sweep both sides as it cant go any firther as the blade is already hitting the rubber lol
Nice to see your getting on with it mate.
scott.parker
10-03-09, 06:54 PM
Well got F'all els to do lol
Tomo's plan, my mate's bringing the welder over and we are welding up loads of holes that Chris 16v left in the floor! lol
scott.parker
11-03-09, 06:04 PM
So as said Mike came round today and we got busy with welding the holes Chris 16v had left all over the floor
(i wanted these done as not sure how the M.O.T tester would look upon them)
First off...out with the seats
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/9120/dscf0233small.jpg
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/7586/dscf0235small.jpg
As the sun was out in force (felt more like May) and it was just gone 1.00pm we had a lunch time tea and bickies! *MAN'S TEA* lol
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/9246/dscf0234small.jpg
Back to the car!
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/6761/dscf0236smallv.jpg
Hole's before any welding, just sanded back etc.
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/1218/dscf0237smallv.jpg
Used some washers i had kicking about to over lap the hole then weld round them, and in them, i had a go on some of them, but mike did most, the welder kept playing up, either bad earth's or wire feed played up..grr
Can see also a patch we had to put in to cover a hole on a tricky bit.
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/5274/dscf0239small.jpg
Close up of one of them done.
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/9959/dscf0240small.jpg
So that's most of the drives side done (bar one near the front leg of cage, and one near the fuel lines)
Either do the passenger side tomo or at weekend.
Scott
Looking kool.
What were the holes for? Sorry if you already said.
scott.parker
12-03-09, 06:59 AM
No idea! im guessing they were a combination of bolt in cage, and bolt in eyelets for harnesses.
All i do know is they made my floor look like swiss cheese.
scott.parker
12-03-09, 07:29 PM
So after going to my missis siters today to fit her a new fireplace, i got an hr on the car before it was dark!
*WARNING* im not much good with the welder, only started yesterday lol
Got that small hole on drivers side by the cage leg done
http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/8417/dscf0242small.jpg
Another from that side i didnt do yesterday.

no worries pal i cant weld either, i need some practice, im gona start by cracking on with a little hold in the spare wheel hole.
i love the colour of the car, its shouting out at me to get mine done that colour

18-03-09, 03:27 PM
So after ianel asked about the internal selector i checked mine over and decided to cut more out of it, as i had noticed before when trying to get into reverse gear it would not be easy, and the leaver would pop back off the rev/lip thing etc.
So here's a pic or two for you.
Before i cut and butchered it lol
4th gear position
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/2136/dscf0255small4th.jpg
Close up
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/9656/dscf0258small4th.jpg

Close up
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/3236/dscf0257smallreverse.jpg
So, i noticed it was hitting, and rubbing on the cut out, I'm not saying Dar got it in the wrong place, as I'm sure he didn't, but car engine mounts, hight, positions might make this vary, so there is not perfect right or wrong..
So i got some snips out, cut a bit out (till it got to double skin) and bent it slightly with mold grips, I'll be covering it over with some rubber or something, so it don't need to be pretty.
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/9574/dscf0254small.jpg
That's made it fit loads better now, oh also mesured up and this what i think is about right to cut out to.
Measuring from the weld/ bulk join back it's 20mm to first pen mark, then from the same bulk join the bottom mark is 140mm
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/5281/dscf0262small.jpg

So on with some more crap i got on with today!
Love this pic with the seat's in the back
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/9968/dscf0269small.jpg
Any how, i ground off the "welding" i did last week.
Also here's the plate i put over the two holes i found, couldn't be bother with two small ones!
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/8647/dscf0275small.jpg
Pics of the rest.
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/4346/dscf0263small.jpg
One that was by the fuel pipe's i use some metal putty stuff to stick a plate over it.
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/4102/dscf0280small.jpg
Stuff set well strong!
By the drive side cage leg
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/3173/dscf0268small.jpg
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/7563/dscf0264small.jpg

Passenger side.

http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/880/dscf0276small.jpg
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/7480/dscf0274small.jpg
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/1713/dscf0271small.jpg
Then i got rid of this bit that was left from the floor cross section, it was flappy and pissing me off, but i got the spot weld positions a bit wrong lol
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/9624/dscf0270small.jpg
So used more metal putty to fill the holes up.
http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/8855/dscf0278small.jpg
Same here too , as some weld flew out while grinding.
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/5324/dscf0279small.jpg
So........
I bought a nice cheep drill from B&Q one of there Power Pro one's £20 Top stuff for the money, and a few wire attachments, and a sanding disk for it, a wire brush attachment for my grinder,
two can's of stone chip (rubbery stuff)
A tin of under seal, some red-oxide primer, tin of Hammerite smooth black...
And ordered from paints4u two 400mm can's of Apache Orange...few!
So plenty to get on with over next few weeks
Scott
Good work Scott, looks like your having fun! :)

Well yeah i guess i am, I'm enjoying getting on and doing something to the car, I'm not so happy at the amount of holes Chris left me though! lol
I think i might even invest in a welder also, or if not i think i might see if i can hook up a gas bottle to my mates one, as it seamed to lack ball's, but then if you turned it up it wanted to blow holes in the floor!..
Got some nice plans for the inside of the car, and I'm having idea's of taking parts off to, like the front hub knuckles, rear beam, fuel tank etc, to paint them again!

Yes mate about £10 each, it's a straight paint, you need lacquer as well though, and they do the exact color match from the code you give them, they will even match it custom for you if you think it needs to be.
