My new toy is a 4x4 106 cosworth 45k worth built by reyland, 650bhp.

Bodywork, all panels new genuine vauxhall, innerwings, wings, rear arches, sills, doors, bonnet with louvers, fully seam welded, painted inside-out-underneath glacier white,brand new bumpers mk1 front-gte rear

Inside, stripped out, safety devices 6 point cage, mk 2 gsi black dash, lcd display, shift light, air fuel display, boost-oil gauges in centre vents, nova antibes blue carpet cut for front only, spare wheel in back, carbon door cards front and rear.

305 bhp, enough for fwd.

Ok me and Vaughan both agreed that the old threads were missing all the photos and were rubbish so weve made our own photobucket and collected and uploaded every old school photo we could find, and since they're on our own new account they wont just vanish in a years time :thumb:

Had this SR from 1989 to 91, this was the start of my love affair.

I bought this car new in Oct 1991 from a dealership in Carlisle. Within six months it had a Blydenstein B+ pack conversion.

No I had them on the SR, sold them seperatly, then bought them back when I got the GSi. The three spokes just didn't do it for me.

I wondered why I couldn't log in properly, seems like I've got two accounts - ahhh double trouble!

Returning to this one from a year ago...

The GSi is due to go into the workshop for a bit of a makeover.

Sport asked "Where's your sport" - well .... it evolved into the GSi, the original shell got rolled at Mallory Park in 1995. Most of the Sport bits got modded / sold over the years.

Now for this makeover - we're talking lots of lightweight panels. Ideally I want to find a Mattig kit, but I don't hold out a lot of hope. So will be looking for the widest Nova kit going, which at the moment is the rally-x wide arch kit. Also want GRP bonnet, tailgate, doors, roof skin (Might have to make my own roof skin). Aiming to get the car as close to 500Kg as I can without going to full spaceframe and cutting loads of floorpan out as it needs to retain as much of the original "fabric" as possible.

Boots will be 9x18" slicks.

I may upgrade the anchors to discs all around, if I can keep ComptonCJ away from my spares.......!!

I reckon with it weight less than the pimples on a flea's backside, and just shy of 200hp from the 1600, it should be pretty well unbeatable in a 1600cc class.

It hasn't turned a wheel since 2003, so it'll get a full strip down before I fire it up again.

Allegedly, I've done enough postin' now to put piccies on the site.

Was out for a blast in the old girl 2 weeks ago! (after diagnosing a plug lead was loose hense missfiring on high boost) still goes like **** off a shovel, forgot how quick it is, still looks brill, thing the wheels are going blue same as cage ect.:thumb:

Back in '96 Fast Car had a track test of a couple of Nova's - one of which was mine. We tested at Mallory Park, and Chris Goodwin (then a BTCC driver) drove them and commented in the write up. He did a couple of laps with each car, except mine - I had to hang the Pitboard out lap after lap to get him back in! He enjoyed it!
I used to have a copy of the mag, but I have no idea where it is now. I wonder if any collectors of Nova memorabilia has one and could scan it for me?

I suppose asking Fast Car for a back issue is another option, but it's a long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away now!

Was around 300bhp mate, was just perfect with the power-weight-gearbox-suspension setup, any more would have been too much.:thumb:

Not a sport either, i built it to my personal taste.

I was at the ellesmere port boat museum show, Didn't have my nova there for some reason. Lots of familiar cars, Rob Delicata's Gsi, Martin Kelsons pre re-paint, Ian Storey, Nick Caro's and Howell Jones. Was a good day,

I was there too! J468 UFA pre-everything, as a mere 1.4 SRi. Mine is next to Nick Caro's.

jesus i remember that show dont think the saloon was there that year though was the year after iirc, but that year in the pics was when i got offered a brand new mk3 astra van shell

And some time after Shane bought it and turned it into a cracking motor. The guy that later bought it from him is another mate of mine from halifax. Apparantly it is sat in his garage and hasnt moved for a few years now. Hopefully billing will see it out again this year.

This angle shows the very expensive aftermarket mirror by duct tape productions, along with bottom left of the bonnet is where i had my L plates and the dirt never quiet came off, no matter what i did.

I hit a badger at 70 mph in it, which ripped the botton arm, ball joint to fcuk, ruined the bumper

Chassis was bent, top mount out by a cm :eek:, mega mega camber lol

Promptly got it painted and shifted it on to someone none the wiser lol :roll:

yes i remember this car was always down spillers on a sunday it always drove up and down the road with a blond lass in the passenger seat, and if i remember right it had cream leather seats with blue piping i was only watching one of my old vids from spillers the other week.

Why is it the picture would not look out of place now with the Polo & Land rover in it. Put the SR, Mk1 Astra & Chuvvit in there though and you can tell it is an old pic.

There should be an option to get the orginal version of the picture you want! Although you will have to go through them as I havnt put up every single Nova picture, just a good selection for you all.

Its weird to think i was into Corsa Bs for so long after I owned mine for 6 years. Ive got into Novas now and I wouldnt change back coz I just love the old school look and feel ;)

This is owned by a chap called Chris North from malton he built that car up from a shell himself so I doubt its the same car?........ Its been around some years now and is as far as Im aware its still an xe on dellorto's. Saying that things may have changed as its been a few years since I was last talking to him.
