the nova is now safely home in the garage :d to say i am over the moon with the mapping is an understatement
it idles perfectly from cold, on 750cc injectors and 3 bar fuel pressure :eek::eek::eek:
havent driven it properly yet only off and on to the trailor and down the short run up the street and into the garage!
i have a graph but it only reads 278bhp @ the wheels at 4250rpm it flat lines to 6500 before dropping off
torque flat lines also at 330 ft @ the wheels at 4400rom
the rate its increasing the mapper worked out that its around 350-360 @ wheels
which equates to 400-410 at flywheel
its holding 26.8psi :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
oil change tomorrow i think, a final nut and bolt check fit bumper and get it mot'd early next week
big up to dave young at mech motorsport he has spent in excess of 20 hours on it, i am very happy finally

im happy power figures are irrelevant tbh anything over 250 in a sub 800kg will be fast , most importantly is the engine thats cost a ****ing fortune is well and after 500 hard miles hasnt missed a beat!
now its time to have some enjoyment:thumb: though i dont know how much enjoyment i will get changing rubber every week

True mate but it's the fact that you put all that effort in the engine with the mods etc so getting a result like that makes you know it's been a worth whlie modification. If you had got way lower reult then it'd be a major facepalm headache moment.
I'll be well happy getting 210bhp from the LET with the induction kit, custom s/s exhaust and XE inlet cams fitted. That'd do me well for a while :)

end of the day the engine will make what an engine will make, if it had made 350 or 320 i wouldnt be complaining, tbh i guess many people will doubt the figures are realistic anyways, but i could've got more with a bigger more modern turbo (gt series) but why its just extra cost again and where do you draw the line, the turbo currently comes on boost a 2300rpm and holds power to 6500rpm thats a power band most gt series turbos will struggle with!
maybe with a gt3076r i wouldve seen close to 500bhp but why it will be wasted in clouds of wheel spin, even now the mapper thinks it will be way to much
myself and paul have proved the t34's can produce good power on let's if mapped correctly and they are bullet proof:d.... so he sayslollollol

nova was mot'd this morning, my brother kindly picked it up for me at 6.30am the people in my street were loving it :)
the emissions where superb 1200ppm allowed - 168
co2 was 1.2 max allowable is 3.5
it failed initially on brake lines being to tight, no beam pattern on o/s head light
new bulb in head light and moving the position of the brake flexi's and i believe it has now passed!!!!!!
:):):):):):):)
Good stuff. Those emission limits are an old carb test, so no suprise a well mapped injection engine flew through that :)
Have you properly driven it on the road yet????

the engine builder who built mine uses millers in his ful on race engines yes, but hasnt recommeneded an oil he just said put a good quality oil in regardless of brand wether it be castrol 10-60, valvoline or millers! i just happen to come across millers

the reason why it was put up to be broken was i have been told i will be expected to work alot more nights and weekends which means the opportunity to do track days will become very slim, however i have reconsidered after using it this weekend it is nice to drive slowly, even the clutch is nice for every day use if you so choose!

323bhp 330ftlbs @ 15psi :) :)
couldnt run it at higher boost because the fan was not big enough to keep it cool the ecu was retarding the timing and lowering the boost
but a very healthy figure
on the way home it was holding 25psi in 5th compared to 15-16 on the rollers

yes i am in the process of getting a lesser rated spring:d
discoinferno
18-04-10, 11:32 AM
The following information is what Tial recommends as the default spring pressure to choose in their bov's. 11psi is the default spring and should be used if you don't know what spring to get.
Measure Vacuum at idle (engine at operating temperature
Vacuum Reading between -22 in/hg and -23 in/hg use -12 psi spring
Vacuum Reading between -18 in/hg and -21 in/hg use -11 psi spring
Vacuum Reading between -14 in/hg and -17 in/hg use -9 psi spring
Vacuum Reading between -10 in/hg and -13 in/hg use -7 psi spring
i have opted for a 9psi spring ordered from usa today so should be with me some time next week
sounds like a pinto when it comes on boost!lol

Slight update had the nova in the bodyshop last few days to hsve some work done, i am over the moon with the work looks excellent paint work is awesome as well (my main fear as the std paint work was superb for its age)

had a few issues with the gear linkage and a leaking water pipe but nothin major and all was fixed and was able to drive it back home :)
sound testing was better than i thought 99db
the nova was savage it was spinning in almost all 6 gears, when the linkage broke i could only get 3rd and 4th not ideal as it was on the limiter going up to avon rise in 4th at 124.8mph wouldve been up to 140+ if i had 5th and 6th :) tyres werent perfect didint have tiome to fit my 888's so had to run with the road tyres good year f1's, the r888's would ve given me alot more grip
it was my first time out in the car so i was generally just getting used to it and as the session went on i had more confidance in the car/brakes etc and was starting to push when the linkage broke and then session cut short due to red flag!!!
once i get used to it a bit more it will be epicly fast, its now tucked away in the garage until next time
thanks to my brother for his help and stu and tom for the pictures!!!
no videos only had 1 session and was only out for around 9 minutes
looked good mate.
Glad it went ok..

Car was superb today so so quick! grip was a problem
but with some slicks the power Can be used fully, but still was extremely lively Gary getting more and more used to the insane acceleration! Brakes were awesome handling seemed very good, very responsive little if no understeer, shame the linkage tried to break, but i and it had words and it soon was sorted, coolant leak due to garys incompatance lol but with a few scolds later it was sorted, a full trackday is in order

not many decent pictures as i was in the car while they adjusted
it was out of balance by quite some way! theres 75kg more over the drivers front before i sat in it and the rears were out as well
they have now adjusted so when i am sat in the car its perfectly balanced over the front 50/50 split over the front wheels and 60-40 from front to rear!!!
im happy with her weight 808kg with half tank of fuel was sub 800 until i added my new battery and bigger pre rad
not bad considering all the extra fluid i carry etc with the chargecooler system
very happy with the improvements made drives alot better :thumb::thumb::thumb:
I dont think it would make any difference if it was 808kg or 1200kg tbh! lol
With 440 bhp the more weight the better!

How come this was "bumped" for being split the other day?
As its been up for "Breaking" about 5 times, yet you still have it, and drive it? lol
I couldnt part with it myself, so just wondering?

Fair enough.
Its a sad time tbh, people want everything for nothing:(
I would be interested in the shell, but when I build it, it will always be "hey thats discoinfernos old shell"
Quite light that is, about the same as mine.
Mine was 883kg with the mot tester in it iirc.

Do they add weights to the car or try and move bits around?

Do they add weights to the car or try and move bits around?
its all done via the coilovers they increase and decrese pressure on each corner to shift the weight
yes very light:thumb:
