Are the dark bits some sort of corner bumper (like off another make of car?) and your not going to run normal bumper?

looks ace, sounds lovely, hope all goes well dude.

Scott

the darker bits are what were on the car as std all ive done is take the gte bumper off and not got rund to making it fit yet! it will be on though fingerscrossed

it will sound much better and cleaner once the excess fuel is removed lower down, its running a bit rich, but will be sorted asap, i m happy it runs, idles and even drives

now to add some boost:thumb:

tis a bit like when we ran your valver on the 1.6 16v map!!!!!!
tis easily sorted though
i wont be running it now until its mapped as she does run rich even with just 2 bar of fuel pressure! with the 750's its like opening the bathroom taplollollollollol i ve trimmed alot off the map lower down but its still hit and miss really without a decent wideband

mapping is booked and confirmed, get the day off you mess, if i re schedule it puts it back, the date has been set the car is ready to go, i want it done!!!!

well been trying to get the bumper to fit today, as the one that came with the car is not perfect i decided to experiment! i will get another at some point

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v227/RSGBodystylingska/DSC00029.jpg

its far from perfect but it will do, once i get another one i will make it fit that little bit better, due to the size of the rad and how far it sticks out from the front of the car it is difficult to get it to look tidy, and the oil cooler positioned where it is very tight against the inside edge but its on and its not that bad :thumb:

at least i can do some miles in it now:thumb:

Looks ace though, and if you do get the grill in it will look alto less noticeable thats it's got some power under the bonnet.

Still leaves it a bit stealth from outside though!

discoinferno

no i dont think i can as the fans protrude out from where the grill would sit so i would have bits either side of the fans and in between them and it would look awful with bits stuck everywhere! it looks a bit neater if thats the right word

370-380 i think it should make

the turbo makes anthing from 350-420 on cosworths, with the larger cams, head work, larger valves, and the 3" exhaust it should flow very well

and the fact the rods are in the bottom end means you will be able to rev it and with it being a 0.63 it will hold boost to 7000-7500 and not tail off:d

should make for a very good spread of torque

update :- ready to map

finally got round to fitting a cambelt cover not painted yet but will do the job for now

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v227/RSGBodystylingska/DSC00046-1.jpg

also fitted some 90 degree bends for the chargecooler system:thumb: looks alot better imo

filled up the system will water wetter and water mix took around 6 -7 litres

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v227/RSGBodystylingska/DSC00048.jpg

installed a new internal shifter with quaife gearknob

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v227/RSGBodystylingska/DSC00049.jpg

also got some gauges - water temp, oil pressure and boost

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v227/RSGBodystylingska/DSC00042.jpg

wired them up

cant believe how good that water pump is for the chargecooler, though i suppose people use them to cool v8 engines and alike so a little charegcooler system is childs play.

gauges look good to, will do the job and you get to keep the radio :)

im over the moon with it, it has the potential to make well over 400, although i will drive it round like this for a few weeks, get some miles on the engine, then maybe if i take a few brave pills back up for another 14psi of boost :)

its taken over 11 hrs driving there and back but it was well worth it!!!!

Suprised you havent posted, following your maiden voyage last night!?

Got a knock at the door just as I was about to eat my pizza at 9pm last night to the sound of a rumbling LET...

Although I wasnt allowed to drive it (:( ) Gary explained that it was 'savage' and an 'animal' and other superlatives to describe 360+ torques through the front wheels.....

And apart from a split return hose to the header tank - all was good!

Yippee! All it needs is a passenger seat! :thumb:

i am very very happy with what johnny did, it drives so nicely doing 30mph as it does at 150+ :d
took it over to see will foy last night everything was good apart from my bic pen i used to join 2 pipes decided not to play ball! quick fix with some new pipe and we were away. was a temp fix a while ago but just forgot to change it

took it to work yesterday, on the way home it was like a missle (roads were dry), you just point and aim, the only problem is judging your braking distances as you come up to standing traffic and other cars so fast before you know it your almost into the back of them, but it is fast very fast, it does torque steer but not as much as i thought, its knida controllable lollol

im very happy, cant wait to go back for another 14 psi

:(well the process of breaking parts has already begun, turbo seals need replacing as it started to smoke randomly, it also snapped a lower arm bolt earlier when i was full throttle in 3rd, it was certainly a brown pant moment :( managed to nurse it home and get it replaced, as a result everything had moved, so the linkage needed adjusting again, will foy came round and held the stick to realign, then spent a few hours bolt checking!

hopefully should be ok for tomorrow took it for a quick drive all seems well

lol at snaping the lower arm bolt that is mad. how the hell have you killed the turbo seals already lol

turbo was the only thing that was 2nd hand i was in 2 minds to send it away when i bought it... it looked and felt fine so didnt bother, it was a gamble that didnt pay off  but hey we live and learn, will get it sorted next week :)

shouldnt need a btcc builder to build it though really. sound more like a mapping error than a build error. this the one that went same place as nics?

may sound stupid but how did they map it? gradual or just up the revs, take an average and either richen or weaken it? just i know of a local ish rolling road that have a very silly way off mapping cars thats all.

you getting the omegas off steveboyslim?

So it doesnt need rebuilding then?? lol

Whether or not it was mapping or build error, if its built properly (and mapped well obv) things are less likely to go the way of the pear!

The map was the first thing that was scrutinised, but it was fine - could be any number of things that caused it....

oh yeah good one...because i said it didnt need rebuilding! point is you dont need someone who builds btcc motors to build that LET back up.

id start looking at what definately caused it too melt so doesnt happen again. all good say ignition, but id want to know if it was ignition why it funked up.

what plugs were you using out of curiousity?

Will F
23-09-09, 05:57 PM
Well if you have someone who lives less than a mile away that works for a BTCC team as a builder/engineer and he offered to do it, then why would you not??

I know what you are saying, but with over 400 bhp and even more torque, I would want someone who could build it reliably tbh....

The map was absolutely awful, and up top wasnt the worst place either, the part throttle on boost ignition was.

Whatever happens with it, for gods sake dont go driving it on that map till its been checked and altered by someone who knows what they are doing, and that most certainly is NOT whoever told you that map is ok! It isnt!

The schoolboy errors in that map are bad enough that anyone who couldnt spot them really shouldnt be allowed near a car!

and 5 litres of this stuff to run it in on, its has very high zinc content which protects the drivetrain when first run

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v227/RSGBodystylingska/IMG_0062.jpg

the engine has undergone a full rebuild only thing that remains from old engine is block and crank everything else is new its taken pete (engine builder) in total 70hrs in total to strip , inspect, clean, measure, bore, and re assemble it. it is built as a competition engine and the tolerances inside the engine are what you would expect from any high performance, race engine!

i was not impressed with the willwoods at all tbh they would stop me but in a blaze of smoke, maybe it was down to the pads but i had no confidence in them, the speeds the nova got up to and how quickly it did they just couldnt cope!

will do enough so i can drive it around sensibly it wont get any high speed runs though! not yet anyways

its on emerald k3 the mapping software is not very use friendly for road mapping anyways so majority of it will be done on the rollers

i am uploading some pictures and a quick video the way the thing accelerates is awesome, its working dave and his rollers really hard trying to hold the rollers steady for a long period cuases the brake to smoke a little so he has to let it cool down

im very happy though the engine is singing and is on to produce some nice figures hopefully :thumb:

Good to see a proper engine being built properly - at least this should show those who doubted it in the first place!:)
