So glad you've changed wheels, they look much better. What colour are you going?

the wheels came with the car, the 18s were offered to me, but i said weigh them in, all ive done is put the pradas on, and found some of the old school caps, cant beat the old team dynamic wheels, as for colour, its staying the same, just haveing the cracks in the arches and bubbling on the doors etc done, would ahve gone full repaint, but the engine bay, etc was already in the flip paint, so it can stay, its a House Of Kolor cameleon flip paint, **** me they know how to charge! £360 for a pot of powder the size of a golf ball lol

got the car back and set to work putting it together, it wont be to everyones taste, including mine lol, but hey ho, i not 100% happy with the paint either, but as the saying goes, you pay for what you get, bumper dosent seem to match in the pics but dose if you look at it in a diffrent angle:tard:

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x361/alex_merris/novatodaynovember008.jpg

gteT graffics were an idea of mine, it was a gte to start with, but someone changed the front end..

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x361/alex_merris/novatodaynovember002.jpg

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x361/alex_merris/novatodaynovember003.jpg

sticker flex is the best lol

all the silcone hoses are in, minus the bottom rad hose as ive got to chop it down a bit to fit around the intercooler..

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x361/alex_merris/novatodaynovember004.jpg

and just a few pics of around the rat, still loads to do, including lining all the panels up, and bonnet, bumper a grill...

Looking good Mr merris

I like the boot decals

Benn
18-11-12, 06:58 PM
Love the GTET sticker, liking the boot wrap bit. Colour wise on the bumper, wityh flip paints your ment to paint everything in one hit so it all flows. That's prob why it doesn't fully match.

I think it looks great tho.

scott.parker
18-11-12, 07:07 PM
Imo dude paint bumpers grey to get rid of the match issue, do skirts too..
And I would be tempted to carbon wrap the grill to.

Spudly
18-11-12, 07:44 PM
Im liking that, youve got a good eye for the little details, although the gte decals i wouldve done the 'T' one line bigger (so its still smaller than the main decal) and given it a - in between so it looked more like...

GTE - T

But thats just a niggly little thing and just my opinion, other than that bang on dude:thumb:

thanks benn

been having a gander over the ****ter today, checked the gaps on the plugs, number 4 was MASSSIVE, so i think that could be the problem under more boost, set them to 0.6mm as told to paul, see how it goes

got these of the bay for £39, ****ing cheap, and look good to me, magnacors are a rip off!

well after a day at castle combe, 459 miles completed in nova, the headgasket failed due to one of the largest bodges ive ever witnessed, who the **** would round off TWO head bolts, weld a cut up bolt head on to wrecked bolts, just drop them in the hole and go, "that el do"

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/922994_534202816643628_1321068680_n.jpg

Oh aye, I can but I dont. Defo a quick presale fix. TBH its more effort cutting & welding bolts then nipping down a factors for a even a cheapy set of new head bolts :S

Alex J
28-04-13, 08:12 PM
a helicoil set is 15 quid ffs! im not bothered it blew up, it just cant see any reason why anyone would go to that sort of trouble to weld a bolt to a bolt witch done **** all? would have been easier to put a helicoil in all day long!

Pistol Pete
28-04-13, 09:01 PM
On the bright side it made it all the way down here, round the track and back!! But i agree, pointless and outrageous bodge!!!

Will F
29-04-13, 12:51 PM
Awesome bodge indeed - it did really well to stay together for nearly 500 miles - especially as some of those were on track! lol

Good to meet you too mate!

Benn
29-04-13, 07:02 PM
WTF at those bolts? Does the head need skimming then?

Alex J
29-04-13, 07:17 PM
the head has been skimmed today, and i had to fork out 90 quid on a re coil kit, with a special 11x 1.25 thread, very rare!! thanks to steve for the advise again, pictures to follow, the heli coils WORKED!! AND the head torqued down to the correct settings without pulling the thread out! life saver really, new block would ahve cost blood as the pistons in it are over sized aswell

ben, the bolts i have no idea wtf has gone on, they were longer than standard ones, but had bottomed out in the holes, thus stripping the threads, **** knows why a bolt was welded to the top!

Benn
29-04-13, 08:49 PM
That's crazy, do you know who did that?

Plug
29-04-13, 08:51 PM

may aswell of dropped bolt heads in and super glued them haha.

surprised your fixing it and not breaking it tbh haha

Alex J
30-04-13, 06:02 PM

got the head skimmed by a freind whilst i waited, then i set of to meet steveboyslim for a new timing belt, gaskets and picked the rest up from halfords lol

its all back together and on the road again! thanks to steve for the advice , and if anyone wants to buy the heli kit of me its £60 as ill never use it again, and its got another 23 heli coil threads, very rare kit as its 11x1.25 thread!!

I did wonder about this.. As i had to trim mine back father after i built them up.

Alex J
27-07-13, 08:52 PM
ive put the ball joint on top, and used spacers inside, and put the tie bar at the bottom on the welded plate so it dont hit on the gearbox

well, after alot of thinking, and trying to sell it, its going to get saved! (first time for everything lol) , ive ordered mk1 headlights, indicators and im on the hunt for gte bumpers, grill, and maybe an interior
also i need two doors and a pair of mk1 wings, its going back to a gte, if anyone has any of the above let me know, or wants to swap a gsi trim for a gte one, and ill also need the boot spoiler
not sure of the colour yet , but mite go easy white, or red, as i always wanted a red gte growing up! , im going to be after a few heads to help strip it down over the coming months as im a cripple
a yard space has been sorted, and im painting it myself (oh boy its gunna look good lol)

my mk2 gsi dash isnt the greatest, stereo is located to the top, and ive decided to get some flared front arches in fibreglass that wont rust lol, front bumper is cut for an intercooler, rear is average lol, id be after a mk1 grey dash with a sr/gte/ loom so i have a rev counter, and id have a digi dash set up to sell
