View Full Version : Edd's Nova Sport
I had suspected for a little long while that the ICV could be the issue
But it's taken a long time to find a new one
The one I have is a E16SE one, different part number to the irmscher one I think?

The part number for the 18E aux valve supercedes to the E16SE anyway so are interchangeable.
I understand the want for new. But a used but cleaned and re-oiled might have done it...
one thing people forget to do is re-oil them.
Benn I tried cleaning and oiling etc
Wish it was summer :(
Cool cool, just alot don't was all. And yes we all wish it was still nice.
Wait to see if there's a dry day to test drive it? We've had a few cold but dry days down here...
jesus another one nearly 6 years old, has it been on the road yet? slowest builds of the car scene here on png
Yes it has been on the road thanks, all very brief tho
BUT building this car is a hobby and not my life
In the time I've owned it, I have saved up to buy a house in a decent area, spent time and cash renovating said house
Also saved up to get married with top honeymoon
All very much more important than a Vauxhall nova sport
Hopefully be able to use it a bit more now I've finally found the problem

Exactly that Edd, other things in life come before a nova.
What was the problem with it?
Wish my sport build had only taken 6 years.

It's very easy to see how projects take a back seat. When I started mine I thought I'd have it all done within a year but life gets in the way, plus motivation comes and goes and money restraints as well at the end of the day like edd says it's a hobby to most of us and the driving is sometimes secondary, it's the building that's the fun bit.

Balanced out by Lee's build of Sean's car - probably brings the PNG average build time way way down!!

Glad you've found the problem ;)
Mr T, who cares if it takes him 16 years as its his project and he can take as long as he wants, 6 years is nothing when you've got no rust lol
i like the build, its a nice car and i agree that to do them to a high standard takes time, most people also like the building than actually driving them, but when they start taking this long then you can fall out of love with them, hence why you see so many builds getting broken once there complete, get it mot'd/taxed and get it out as soon as the winter is over and abuse/use it like a car, then rebuild it again in ten years

If I was you, i'd ditch all the old skool loom/management, buy some DTA, loom and get it finished. Understand that will cost a bit more, but will have it all uber reliable.
I had contemplated ditching the old school stuff but I want to retain it really so it's more in keeping with the age of the car
Plus the loom is brand new
I'm confident I've resolved the long standing problem now as well
Back doing some stuff on this now
Rear quarter glass and windscreen removed
Headlining out to make a new one
Got this material to make it from, a very very near match to original

Looking good edd. Servo set up looks ace.
Keen to see how you get on with the turbo conversion.
Servo does look great, are the proper bulk head fittings?
Yes Benn proper bulkhead fittings
Looks more tidy that way I think

Nice work on the servo setup, very tidy. Have you tested it then?
looking forward to the turbo setup after all this time as well ;)
I've tested it yeah, it was fitted before I had it on the road last year
Turbocharger stuff is close
Yes Benn proper bulkhead fittings
Looks more tidy that way I think
Nice, might have to get some of them too. Does look tidier.
I'm starting back on this next week

On a mission to get all of it finished in the next few months

Where did you get them? Or what are they called? Can't find anything that looks like it on ebay.
Do they have a nut each side to hold them in place?

Nice, that's a rare item so you must be well happy Edd, will it handle the turbo conversion though?
I expect it will handle the turbo power, I only want about 140bhp out of it
The main problem at the moment is actually getting ANY time to work on the car, doing my head in tbh
A lot going on in life ATM
Got a few weeks off soon so hopefully do something with it soon
Rather have it sat in the garage doing nowt than sell up tho lol
Southie
28-05-16, 09:55 PM
Never sell it.
Never never never EVER lol
Still collecting parts......... lol
Nearly finished building the new garage so hopefully start on it again in few months
It'll be yellow inside now from all the tabs you smoke in there lol
^^^^lol
Finally got my hands on a irmscher rear bumper I've been after for ages

Great find! did you buy that in Germany? saw it a few times on ebay ;)
Now you just need the matching front valance and side skirts :d
Yay. Please bring it to the shows. I wanna see it.
Gotta finish the house extension before I do anything on the Sport
No idea when that will be tho
Ah yes. Hoping it's soon...
:p :p :p
I've actually started working on the car again

Update due
Well after over 2 years of not touching it and one winter of it being outside over winter whilst I did the house renovations I have finally got it ready for MOT
Quite a few changes along the way, but loads of mechanical work was needed due to it being sat
Exterior changes are 3 piece Irmscher rear spoiler and bronze tint rear screen with no heating element
Interior wise, dry cell battery fitted, Safety Devices cage modified, front cage powder coated matt black
Engine bay, vapour cleaned inlet, new ICV, TPS, AFM, CTS, DIZZY, ECU FPR
Gearbox casing vapour cleaned
Oil catch tank fitted
Oil filter relocation kit fitted
And for the first time ever it idles at 900rpm, something it's never done and the reason I've not used it

Turbo on a sport! Sacrilege!!! How you planning on doing the fueling? Efi? Or gonna track down some of those reare dellortos that can take boost pressure? From an elan i think
Why does everyone think Sports should be kept completely standard? lol
I'll be using the loom, ecu and sensors from the Irmscher injection kit that's already fitted, with a few extra parts for the fueling

I still be using it this year even tho it still needs stuff doing

So Edd is this still in use and did you ever do everything you needed?
It's still usable, only drove it twice this year tho, no time to use it really with Lil Man being born
Started some turbo stuff and hopefully next year when it comes back out it'll be boosted
Well after being off the road for 3 years the Sport is back on the road
I actually seriously consider selling it and even had it for sale for a short while
The only thing this did was make me fall back in love with it [emoji23]
