Yeah it started to irritate me that there was soo many parts of the car that had been changed and just created problem after problem because it was soo 'custom'.

So i decided to just go GTE Spec with a few changes like wheels,interior etc.. and not go as far as i originally planned.

I think it looks better original'ish and the way Vauxhall meant a GTE nova to be

I still have the widearch kit there for anybody who wants to buy one just PM me.

Chris- Im trying as hard as i can to get it and myself on the road but times are hard, no job etc..

Once the cars complete my target is for xmas to have it roadworthy, then im going to look into putting it on the road, but if i get an insurance quote like my last one which was 6 grand then ill just have to wait a year or 2 till it drops.

So if all goes well then maybe early next year hopefully.

Also: Im on crutches with a broken ankle, just had metal screws and plates put in and 10 stitches with a cast on my leg so ive been stuck in the house limping around.

Monday im heading over the garage on the crutches to crack on with the nova, gotta make that deadline :thumb:

Ill work on it on 1 foot, but its going to get done!

I like your enthusiasm and what your doing Lewi. Colour looks to suit it (from camera pictures anyway) and I like the mistrals,twin lights,early gate theme too. Very unsure about the scoop and the way you've put the flashers in the bumper however. I think that could have been much more subtle similar to how Dan has his looks much better. But thats just my opinion and you'll never please us all! Look forward to having a wander round it one day. Keep up the graft!

Going for 'Dolphin Gray' Leather Recaros, ive restored everything inside the car back to original grey vinyl, grey GTE door top cappings, im busy trying to find some grey SR doorcards and other grey parts i think its going to look much cleaner and fresher inside being a lighter colour than the black.

Only thing is the only car i think the grey recaros i want come in was a ferarri 355, so im going to have some sierra cosworth ones retrimmed in grey leather but this wont be for a long time because im concentrating on just getting everything else done.

Should be good though im buying a new digital camera today so my next update will be quality photos.

Damn you, was loving the black. Il save the ideas for myself then if i ever get round to doing mine lol. I saw your wanted thread for the doorcards just after i posted, im sure i used to have some of them which i recently chucked out, also had a load of grey bits which have also been chucked. I hate grey interiors but i suppose if it is in leather and well finished it will look good and suit the 90s more.

You ever hear of EARTHQUAKE Subwoofers ? lol theyre damn hard to get a hold of though, the old style 90s ones that is.

I was into ICE when i started driving but cant remember earthquake lol my dream system is a full jl audio set up but the most well known make back then to me was rockford fosgates, not sure if it was more late 90s than mids. Get some mini neons for the boot lol

Now i didnt take any photos of my refurb i did on the speedlines but i will get you guys a photo of the paint in the sunlight and you will be amazed ! its like its a silver thats made up of metallic particles, like a load of glitter threw at the wheels, you cant really see in this photo cos i was in the dark garage, plus i got the speedline decals and new tyres, just need centre cap badges, wouldnt mind courtenay design ones.

So the car is looking a bit rough at the minute but there isnt THAT much left to do on it now, just collect a few more bits i need throw it together and give it another coat of paint to fix all the errors that are on it now.

Really glad you have done the things that you have to the car. The wheels are perfect for it, glad you have kept the fearless cage and although i prefer the black interior, i know once it's all done it'll look great. Are you finally going to sell me that red carpet now? lol

Ok so i got hold of a set of GTE Skirts to finish the bodykit off, they had come off a red Nova and i want them original grey and dont want to paint them so i decided to paint strip them to get the grey back.

Notice in some of these photos my ankle is bright yellow, thats my cast but ive managed to get a pair of trainers on and put it over the top of the cast and lace it up really fat so i can now gently walk around.

Lewi as you probably know the correct rivet/heads need to be welded to the sills for oem fitment. So unless your painting the car again presuming you wouldnt want to do that? Most just drill/self tap the clips to the sills so you can then just clip on the skirts as normal. Only other way is bonding them on etc.

I didnt know they had to be welded on :tard: , luckily my Wings came from a MK1 SR And have 2 rivets on so that will be a small help.

I think my best option now is propably to drill and screw the clips in then like you say, but im very very worried about water getting in and rotting the sills to bits.

Ive already brushed underseal onto the outside of the sills and painted over it, and waxoyled the insides of the sills but i dont like the idea of screws into the sills.

Any ideas to make the screws and holes watertight permanently ? maybe some chemical metal and more underseal or something ?

If you waxoil inside and out Id say thats the best you can do really without things getting messy. Only other alternative is bonding them on but then they'd be hard work to get back off in the future without possibly making another mess. Catch 22 really!

A little too much messing about for my liking really...... Fit the clips then spray clear waxoil over the whole assembly or complete sills/clips included. Then just clip the skirts on and away you go. ;)

Agreed, surly if there is the bolt holes under the sills (are they not on all novas?) i would bolt it to the underside and then use a bonding glue to glue them on mate, or you could try the trim tape, as thats all the side strips on most nova's is held on with?

Bit of an update.

Ive built a sound system in the boot but im not showing any photos until its finished, so i will show a couple of other things for now.

Well you know how the GTE Model comes with the boot all carpeted out and everything but the POV Spec like mine doesnt, and it also comes with plastic trim on the pillars and the POV Spec comes with sticky vinyl stuck onto it its really cheap.

Well i got hold of a full plastic interior trim from the mk2 i broke a while ago and drilled the car to make them fit, but they come in a stupid cream colour and they are plastic.

So i got some Grey acoustic carpet the same colour as the GTE Parcel Shelf and boot trim and made a start on trimming all the interior bits with it.

One thing, You should of glued the push in clips in to it, then covered over the top. Saves having to make a hole and them looking a little out of place... Unless you are planing on trimming the tops of them too.. Which i did, but as they are so small i found it would fall off around a while as you can lip it over the back so well.

I know but the carpet im using is thicker than the clips themselves and ive only got 2 clips left so im going to have to use somethign different.

Im thinking about using anodized purple bolts like what is used to fasten the plastics onto motorbikes.

Tonight i made a start on the rear cards, im very happy with how this turned out, i did a proper job of it aswell trimmed the plastic cover and cut the hole out behind it so you still have access to change taillight bulbs etc..

The bits that look like i havent trimmed them are where the metal bars from the parcel shelf slot into place.

This is the side that i will be mounting a CD Multi changer onto, the other side is where the custom subwoofer box is built into

Have you sorted your skirts problem as when I fitted mines to a previous nova I drilled the holes painted red oxide over the holes then the car colour and used plastic coated pop rivets to hold the clips on that way there wasn't any bare metal not sure if this helps?
Also do 17"minstrels go under the arches ok? As always wanted a set for mine but wasn't sure on clearence in arches?
Also loving the retrimmed plastics I plan on doing similar with alcantara also my roof cloth

Cheers mate, yeah ive sorted the skirts with just self tapper screws they work fine but i will have to underseal them.

I dont think the17'' Mistrals will fit very good because my 16'' are 7J Wide and catch the arches with stretched tyres and the arch lips cut off and the 17'' are 7.5 wide so it would need work to fit them.

Update! But i wont reveal much..

I got off my bottom this year and found a job, spray painting honda and nissan panels in the factory working 3 shifts, days, nights and afternoons its hard work and i dont enjoy it

Then with some of my wages i started renting my own small garage, painted all the walls and put big lights up and made it into a spray/body shop doing jobs on the side after i finish work, so im really going for it this year my goal is to be at the shows in the nova !

Managed to find a set from a guy on ebay the day after i bought the wheels and it turns out he lives 10 minutes away from me so i am going round tomorow with one of the wheels to see if they fit properly and we have made a deal ! about time i got lucky for once.

Awesome looking wheel, did you not think about painting them before fitting tyres and that?

Come with 1 tyre on Benn, that wheel is damaged and has to be took away to be straightened for £50, im going to sandblast them at my garage.

Bit busy with work at the minute but ill let pople know whats going on with the nova.

Bought a new drivers door as i broke the old one
bought front window surounds
radiator fan
GTE rear doorcards
full set of 205-40-17 Nankang tyres for the Raffino's but havent fitted them yet
and a near enough brand new GTE spoiler that im going to fit with the proper pins and nuts.

And saved up a massive wegde of cash from work, my theory is booked for this wednesday so wish me luck.

the nova needs a new windscreen aswell cos a car wheel fell ontop of the old one so ive took it out and tossed it.
im busy changing loads of things with it at the minute but you will have to just wait and see, im busy refurbishing the alloys at the minute.

A pic of how the car sits right now,Note that im working on a new front bumper for it WITHOUT the big stupid lights in it anymore, im going ll standard GTE but with the irmscher grille and gte bonnet vents.

Stay purple. As no one else is that colour at the mo. And i was told expanding foam is good in places that get damp as it will hold moisture in.

I couldnt be bothered to strip it all off again i just want to see this car done and on the road, ive got my driving test in 2 weeks. All the paint outside of the car i will still get spot on but ill redo the bay some day if i ever do get round to swapping the engine.

They're also really nicely maintained with a lot of effort in, so why not kick all the panels in on yours and put it back together with some self tappers, that'll be different.

Can't go wrong with white, but for this nova, the purple is the only colour for it to suit the grill/lights/wheels etc. but sure it will be white for a few weeks then stripped and changed to green or something anyway. lol

I know i wasnt pleased either but at this rate the car is never going to get finished. i wish id never gone this far into it now because of the amount of problems ive faced, aslong as its in 1 piece and clean itll do for now till i get on my feet.

im really busy with work and other things in life and having this unfinished thing sat there is another problem on my shoulders. ill slowly change bits and pieces over time till its perfect.

Yes i have made special brackets to hold the bumper in the proper place and i had to bend the bumper to get it on the car so it needs fixing when its all built it.

the original bumpers on the club were sport bumpers but moulded out of white plastic.

I sold my front one but i still have the original white rear bumper in the garage as i replaced it with a GTE one :cool:

I don't know the UK laws, but the outer lamps can be indicators and the inners are normal lamps, like on a few US rear lamps :)

Only the rear windows are the original bronze glass, all other windows have been damaged due to storage throughout the build so I've replaced them.

New windscreen fiteed and mirrors,window surrounds etc.

The drivers wing needs attention above the indicator or replaced and who knows how you chipped everything or are you using nunchucks in one hand?

i think i need a new GM wing for the drivers side because it is a bad fit all round.
