I'm not a fan of the wheels either, but I payed only 40 pounds for them, refurbished them at work for free, and got 4 brand new 195-45-15 for like 190 pounds delivered.

I'm going to wait till I can afford the insurance, then I want to fit a C20LET and calibra turbo wheels, maybe I'll 5 stud it while it's still an 8V at some point depending if the stuff comes up for sale cheap enough.

Have you still got the MIMs then? How did they fit, any scrubbing? There's a set for sale that I can get pretty cheap but thought 17s are a bit too big. Don't suppose you'd swap yours for some speedlines ha? Or sell them to me.

I sold the mims, very bad fitment. They were catching the arches and I had to run spacers.

From now on I stay OEM only!

Forget about the azevs,mims and speedline mistrals this car has had on it, full on TURBO oem spec is the way to go.

Yes all the electrics are sorted now, it was down too somme bad earths and a faulty ignition module, it started straight up after sitting for 3 years. 30k engine.

I know its temporary just so i could fill the water and test everything, i couldnt find a new hose anywhere to fit.

the next 2 things on the to do list are:

ive bought a GTE/GSi brake servo and some Bilstein B10 Suspension, ill be stripping them all down to paint them and then fitting them.
There isnt really much more to do to it now, nearly ready for the road.

I passed my test last year, my license is clean next month, and ive already saved up a couple grand to insure the car, so if all goes well i might be able to attend a show this year..

Yeah sold those Benn, they were causing too many fitment problems and delaying me from getting it on the road, so I went for a quick easy option, not really a big fan of 'cav slabs' but they'll do I suppose until I go 5 stud.

Yeh the ban is up and I've sat and ppassed an extended test, the endorsements come off my license in may, it's been 4 year!!

Damn even I forgot about the tally chart on the back of the door, I was guttered lol. There's a photo of it somewhere

As for the GTE grille badge, I don't have a proper nova one and I'm having a really hard time finding one to buy.

Left them overnight to dry while I went for a curry and a beer with my mate, I'll be rebuilding them tomorow and fitting them to the car, have these new stickers to go on.

I agree Benn, and Lewi IMO the cav slabs suit it. They maybe the heaviest alloys for a nova but somehow they suit a mk1 especially a GTE ;)

Thanks, trying my hardest to get it on the road for summer, ive spent a fortune over the weekend ordering parts for it that should be arriving this week including a nice pair of GM front wings as the copies that are on just dont line up very well.

Im busy tidying all the small defects in the bodywork up now (small dents in either doors, bonnet etc..) i dont want to paint it again OBVIOUSLY lol, but it really needs it so ill be giving it a proper paintjob again in glacier whitem polishing it up and im busy having some GTE decals and vinyls made that ill fit and then i think its near enough ready for MOT, Tax and insurance !

Well i managed to tidy the bodywork up, didnt take as many photos to show everything ive done, but i have photos of what it looks like.

Decals i had made, custom size and colour, not like the factory decals.

it had an oil leak so i replaced the sump gasket and oil filter, and oil changed it with Mobil 1 oil, i see this advertised everywhere for old school vauxhalls ?

Thanks Scott, I liked the purple aswell, but I got tired of having a completely modified car, I want to try and stay oem from now.

As for the clocks, if you take them to bits, you can remove the mile counter and turn them back by hand.

Since near enough everything on this car has been replaced with new parts, I think this is a good way for me to keep track of how many miles everything has done so I know when it's ready to service. It's a brand new nova! Lol

Today i did the vinyl wrapping on the b pillars.

Engine bay, i want to get this steam cleaned, its pretty clean now but could be cleaner, ive gave it a good soak in WD40, im now busy trying to clean up the water bottles, i have one sitting in a bucket of bleach, ive been told to put them in a dishwasher, but i dont have one.

Also have the Fearless strut brace to fit but it has slight damage to the holes where it mounts, so i need to come up with a way to make that work.

But if you use baking soda and hot water. IT bubbles up and really cleans.

With the brace just get bigger washers or counter sunk ones and bleach works on some bottles not all I had 2 soaking for 6 weeks one was like new the other like it had not been touched I finished it of with a stick and a cloth to get the thick of in the insist then cleaned it with 2 PAC thinners or upvc cleaner is similar

Can you show me what a counter sunk washer looks like, ill take some photos of my strut brace today and show what the problem is, maybe someone can help, i payed alot of money for it and i dont want to leave it sat in the garage, i need it on the car with the matching rear brace and cage.

How long should i leave it in boiling water for Benn ?, i will try this.
I want an aluminium bailey motorsport bottle, but they are hard to come across now, eventually ill get one when im prepared to spend a but more money, standard bottles will do for now.

they were suppose to be slightly loose, but it should be tighter than it is, it is possible to tighten it, but i have no idea how.

The manual that came with the car from new says to do oil changes at 9k iirc lol maybe when i ever get a c20let engine ill maintain it alot more than this.
