Brains - yeah it doesnt look soo bad but i dont know, ive got an old mk1 grille there i think ill cut it up and slot that piece underneath and make i a better fit, i might also make the grille hole in the middle a bit smaller like the irmscher grilles.

Wayne - Yeah they do look great, im stuck for choice of rims, i was thinking about speedline mistrals but i dont know, i think turbo rims might be the perfect rims for this car, 16 inches under the arches and 5 studs. that means its a real mans car lol

Little update on the beast, shes locked away in my mates garage, Im dying to get stuck into working on it but i can never get the chance, im trying to find my own garage now just to finish it ffs.

Bit of bad news, Somebody mustnt like me because they'd put a couple small dents in the rear quarter and i dont know who did it, but anyway im going to have a proffessional come out and remove them without scratching the paint.

And i did a deal with my friend on my old SRi interior, for some black cobra bucket seats that im not going to use, and some other interior out of a mk1, but it came with all CREAM Vinyl/Leather style interior parts, and since im having the full interior in cream leather these are ideal ! and im so lucky to find parts like this instead of having to retrim them myself

Ill put the rest of the interior to other use, i might do something custom on the doorcards and use them but i dont know yet, but original Cream nova trim parts are such a great find.

Cheers lads, at court on monday, then after that i have ONE more court date and then ill find out if i get banned or not, plan is to hang on to the white nova until then, and save as much cash as i can.

If i dont get banned ill be straight in for test etc.. and be driving.

If i do get banned, ill spend the next year+ making the red nova PERFECT !

Ok update, was at court and decided after talking with some solicitor guy that it would be better off for me to go guilty.

So i did and the minimum you can get for dangerous driving is a 12 month ban and thats what i got, 0 points and a 150 pound fine.

Ive made a calendar on the back of my door that gets crossed off each day, by the time i get to the 365th one i need to have the nova finished and have saved up for lessons/insurance etc..

Got the Grille all rubbed down perfect and my friend who is a very good painter i am paying him to do it since i cant get in my dads garage to spray my own stuff anymore.

Thanks for great comments, i am very proud of this car and ive learnt alot building it and still learning, but its like a BIG hole in my pocket i think ive got nearly 3K in it now :O...But shes worth every penny.

Anyway since i havent had enough practice at welding and wanted a good job on the engine bay i payed a welder to come out and do it.

And i found a bit of rust inside my wheelarch the other day and turned out to be a hole !! so i got him to weld it up

Then went round all the edges of the wheelarch and it had all started to rust again to i took it all back to bare

Hammerited it all this time 2 thick coats, and im going to buy a big red tin and go over it all again, and the full underneath of the car, that underseal i used is rubbish unless you paint over it.

One of the brake lines snapped because it was too rusty so ill have to get a new one made and the brake hose had something rusted in the end of it also, so rather than buying a new one i think ill just order some braided ones and a set of cav GSi brakes.

Havent done much to the red nova in a while, just been collecting parts, ill take some photos when i get a new camera.

Was trying to get the tyre to explode, loads of metal shot out of it and almost hit me because the car has got no windows, so after that i just locked the car up and the police turned up, private property this time though.

You never heard the story about me driving the red nova half built up down the street full of ice on xmas day doing handbrake turns ?

was very very fun, but a very stupid thing to do, and now i pay the price with my 12 month ban, have to take a extended driving test and 150 quid fine.

Dangerous driving.

And the car got impounded and i had to spend 300 quid geting it back.

That will be on your license though when you come to get it and your insurance premium will probably be sky high until the points are off then if you get done when your driving for something silly and happen to get 3 points within the 2 years of passing your test it's an automatic ban

Right well its been a while, but i finnaly got something done on "Maybeline" lol

Pulled her out of her parking space, spiders webs and everything on her now :( and with my ban being here i hate to say it but i think im starting to lose motivation.

My MK1 Doorcards, i keyed them up then dusted coats of black Porsche paint over them, they look perfect and its pretty durable it doesnt come off easily.

And i sprayed the bottom piece anthracite like everything else on the car.

Decided i want everything on my E16SE To be mirror finish so i took my alternator bracket into work and kept working on it while the boss wasnt looking, by the end of the day it went from this to this.

It's not necessarily for the view out of the rear window, it just looks out of proportion due to the size of the rear seats.

Go nuts. You will see. lol (Unless you don't have the eye for detail that you claim ;))

Well i can picture a cav leather rear seats in the back with fishnets on the top, and the fishnets in the front.

I think it would look great, but ill have to wait and find out, and those headrests are expensive and rare so it better look good.

ok ill tell the truth, the car is now in a different garage locked away and bare shelled being rebuilt to a higher standard than it almost was before, with alot of new better parts.

Its 'underground', only a certain list of VIP get photos sent of progress in sms.

Once i get the car alot further there will be a mega update here, because im still taking all the photos.

Until a couple months time..

i said his paintwork was my inspiration to do a good job and i tried hard to make it as good as his, but it still isnt because of where i sprayed it, but im still very happy with it.

Im not revealing future plans yet either, so just wait and see.

The dash question was just that, a question. Have you even drive a car with a painted dash? I have (top parts painted), when the sun hit its it becomes like a mirror and you cant see sh*t.

Well since its a MK1 ive decided to use a PROPER spoiler instead of the GSi one, Swapped a spare GSi spoiler to my mate NastyNova for it, ill paint it anthracite the same as the bumpers and bottom half of the car.

I think you will struggle to insure the Nova or any car for that matter, you'll have points on your licence relating to driving without insurance and dangerous driving im guessing?

I'd also suspect that when the car is on the road that the reg number will flash up on every single police number plate recognition system known to man when your out and about and you'll be more of a target

Thanks, i wont ever sell it i think because of taking alot of time to find all the parts for it and the history and time ive spent on it.

I did plan a LET But changed my mind.

in about 2-3 years i plan widearches, DEEP BBS wheels, and 3.0 V6 6 Speed.

Purely so i can polish and chrome the whole engine up as itll be better to show off and sound great, i think ill tune it up to well over 200hp and thatll be ideal. Maybe Turbo it aswell just for the sound and looks of a nice engine, speed doesnt matter because its for show.

Like i say, 2-3 years though, make sure i insure it all..

You'll need longer than that to insure a turbo'd 3.0V6. Not an ideal thing either, afaik Dave Dixon never really had his running right.

If you're going 90s, keep the engine period too, so stick with a tuned XE IMO. V6 would be out of place.

Ill buy the engine and slowly build it into a modified show engine over a year or 2, meanwhile saving up.

And i suppose ill just have to pull the however many thousand pounds it is to insure and pay it, i could save it up over a few years by the time the engine is done.

AYeah, a local lad had a x30xe in a mk4 astra van, he spent months, and i mean months of weekends trying to get it to go right.
Mine is N/A and STILL doesn't run properly lol

He literally tried everything.

It was a saab turbo kit, off a 9001 (I think)

Regardless, it was pap, didnt boost right, spiked allover, made 8psi full pressure, but the turbo only went on one bank of cylinderlol

you'd have to go for aftermarket management etc, not worth it. either an alernatively fuelled smallblock (turbo 1.6? courtenay did these back in the 90's) or LET/N/A V6

Ill get the engine in first then can start thinking about Turbo, who knows someone may of even pulled it off properly by then..

The Saab 3.0V6 blown engine makes less power than the N/A 3.0V6, which is why I've always been a little sceptical of turboing the the X30

Saw this where someone had modified there dashboard to put the radio in the top and since mines a mk1 and the wires dont stretch down to where the mk2 dash is and i prefer it up there i thought id start making mine like that.

Then i sold my SPAX 40MM springs for 25 quid and a set of corsa b springs which i am going to chop and use temporarly until i get proper 100mm lowering springs and new dampers.

I was messing around with it WITHOUT springs in the backend, looked mint.

Ive cut the lips out of the wheelarches and i will fill the small seam with that stuff they use to seal windscreens in and then weld it in the future.

The camber isnt THAT much it just looks really exageratted in the photo, it looks 'mean' in person, sits really nice.

Graeme - Nah im not putting an aerial anywhere outside the car, ill have to hide one somewhere, i cant remember who i bought the brace from but i payed 151 pounds for it, was bought on here.
