I'm currently building up a c20xe for my nova, I was just wondering what the benefits of machining the double crank pulley to a single slot are, I can easily get the outer slot milled off but is it worthwhile?

They normally fail if you machine them down, Better off just buying a single V alloy one.
People only remove it because it runs the power steering which isn't there any more.
when you say fail .. do you mean explode ?
Bar a couple grams in weight no
As Craig says, why pay to machine, you can buy a single ally one.
Benefit of single V is clearance against the chassis leg.
As said buy an alloy one, they can twist and get upset with a reduced amount of rubber holding them together. You lose the harmonic dampening properties but not the end of the world.
