You can get a brand new motor reconditioned for around £1k as well! I am seriously considering one for my next conversion.

I find the lack of tuneing parts puts people off the 1.8 even the Astra forums don't have much as spares so it's buy new most of the time this is why there less popular id say
good job so far
From my limited reading 180+ is easily achievable with uprated induction (TB;s / Carbs) and cams on a standard engine with ARP's. I think the cost of the TB's is generally off putting and people tend to go down the forced induction route for the instant power and future tune-ability.
I would be interested to see some weight figures on how much a small block z18 would save you in Kg's over going big block C20XE / LET.
Could you make a 1.8T using the z18 engine and a corsa vxr turbo setup? Or does the turbo manifold not match the z18 head? I think that would make a cracking engine.
Car looks like a decent base for the project mate, Il be keeping an eye on this one!
Can not advise on that one Staggy. There have been several 1.8 T conversions carried out over in Corsa C world.
Google will pull them up if your are interested.
This is something I've looked into and it will definitely help if I do go down the supercharger route, but I'm still not decided what direction to take with the engine.
Liking this, more updates needed.
whats your plans for the throttle ? i dont know much about the fly-by's ... can you pinch a mk.4 astra pedal for it ?
any idea if theres much weight difference between the 16xe and the 18xe ?
It's a bigger motor slightly taller I think so must be a little heavyer
