Are there not free independant mortgage advice services over there Niek?
We use a guy that has helped us over the last ten years for no charge. He has always got us the best deal and has managed to wipe 5 years off what started out as a 25 year mortgage so we only have 9-10 years left.
He takes a commission from the mortgage company but he is totally independant and always gets you the best deal.
niek, to counter the above comments, we also have complete ar$eholes in the uk, too... one offered to get us an amazing deal but the lender kept asking for more & more information, we are talking 5 years worth of bank statements, employment histories going back decades, in the end we were sending 3 or 4 parcels of papers every week to them, and they asked for yet more info, so my wife rang them up & told them to 'fcuk right off' as they obviously didn't actually want to lend us the money, within seconds their manager was on the phone attempting to tell us that they really wanted our business, so he got a massive bollocking too.
and as for 'independant' financial advisers....... they rarely are independant, just agents for lenders, and their commision can be quite big too..
Yes it is - mortgage advice is free, but as soon as you sign any form of contract you start paying fees, which makes sense.Originally Posted by Novasport

The best mortgage advisor/specialist I've had was when I bought my first house (back in 1993) but unfortunately this guy is retired. All the ones I've come across after that seemed to be in it for quick profits and not much else. Being not really clued up on mortgages doesn't help either.
Like I said, time has proven that lots of those so called experts are just in it for the money and are keen to sell you products you don't need. Insurances linked to mortgages, saving schemes linked to mortgages, investment schemes linked to mortages, you name it... shameless pricks. Anyway, rant over. Going to write a nice letter of complaint to this last guys office, demanding my money back for rubbish advice and lies. So there.

being given a prawn & lemon flavour niknak........its a cheap snack food for all you posh people......
I will avoid prawn & lemon from now on, as they appear to taste of what I imagine dried piss to taste of.......
