It had to happen didn't it...!
I was looking for a long time for different cars, a modified Nova, a Sport, a whatever, but I initially wanted to buy one already done.
After looking at a few, the knowledge of the unknown kept me from buying a modified (done) one.
So maybe a project was what I needed, a random spot on Facebook by a mate of mine led to looking at an advert for a car literally 25 miles from home. This is after travelling the combined distance of nearing 1500 miles to look at other Novas!
The ad, it looked clean but Nova's aren't ever as clean as they look are they....
I turned up, looked once briefly during work one day, then went back with my mate to look further. 90mins later after looking and looking, this happened, it turns up in my garage!
So here we go...
A 1988 Nova 1.3 SR
83,000 miles from new.
2 Previous owners, first one for 26 years (i.e. this year). Story goes (the one we all want to find) the chap pulled into a doctors surgery where a young mechanic spots a tidy Nova, he asks would you sell it, and the chap says well the clutch is on its way out and I guess I could....said mechanic buys it, replaces clutch along with a full service, then I come along. This car has never left Devon ownership after being registered at Skippers Torquay - and I hope nor will it.
It has had some arches in the past, but other than that its original and very very tidy, and never structurally welded.
Full VSH up until 76,000 and a whole wedge since.
It's going to have a full resto/freshen up, that way I know it will be done right and not hiding anything. Some more photos will of course follow....!
Edit, some proper photos!
