    Yes, that's why it needs to be modified!

    It's not dead weight if it gets my feet into the right position to be comfortable in the car. My feet need to be raised, so tape on the floor won't do that.

    I think people underestimate just how important it is to be sat in the perfect position, for safety, weight distribution and of course ultimately car control.

    I doubt I will use the clutch footrest on a hillclimb, but this was the best quality carbon fibre false floor I could find, at a good price, and it happened to have a footrest built in.

    Who knows, if I ever do a trackday it might be useful.

    Far from suicidal

    I completely agree. A Nova floor slopes downwards into the tunnel, so a correctly fitted pedal box see's your left heel considerably lower than your right. Unless you have very big feet that also means that your toes are lower on the clutch pedal and will be working your leg muscles harder.

    I spent weeks getting mine right, but can say with confidence that it is absolutely perfect for me.

    I'm just going to cut a section out of it so it can slide around the pedal box, which will push the clutch footrest right up to the bulkhead (or thereabouts).

    Wise words indeed.

    Mine is going to be 95% perfect, if I could it would go a little bit more to the right, but I cannot do that because the wheel arch intrudes into that space.

    But it's a hundred times better than it was with the original pedal box that came with the car.

    Not an update on my car, but after a 7-year absence from motorsport, it was great to welcome back Kevin and Ian Plummer today at Gurston Down hillclimb;

    A very successful return it was as well. The car previously used a 2.0 XE, but following the rebuild it has a 1639cc smallblock 16v engine with an XEL head, couple to an F20 Quaife SCCR gearbox with ATB.

    Note the wheels - ex-works Astra 16" magnesium in ET49. Looks great.

    I was on my way up, but decided not to at the last minute as we would have arrived just before lunch time. Wish I had now.

    Note, Note.... Wheels have fixing threads in them for the super rare brake cooling fans. Those would have been on either the Works Mk3 Astra or the Opel Calibra.

    Shame you didn't make it Craig, it was a good day.

    Yes, they did have the cooling fans, unfortunately Kevin didn't get them with the wheels, and like you say, they are incredibly rare now.
