Hire a lightweight zip up tower scaffold. Only if you have the room to move about. Piece o pss to build yourself

I must admit this would not have been possible without a harness. After lifting the ridge tile where the root was sticking out, I soon realised the roots went in both directions deep within the brickwork. Everything just wobbled out.

there was not sand/cement holding anything as the roots and weather have eaten everything. It turned into a much bigger job than I thought!!!!!

i still haven't got all the roots out, but sprayed everything with root killer and I'm gonna chop the rest out tomorrow. Then I can start putting the brickwork back together and sourcing some 100year old roll top tiles to replace the damaged ones.

I'm well chuffed with my performance. The cheapest quote I got without realising how bad it was going to be was £1300. It would defiantly of got more expensive due to the damage.

get it done properly save yourself the hastle get that gable painted at the same time the money you spend compared to the added value is nothing
