I too could really do with XL versions but need as much room in the car as I can get! I fit in these but I think the addition of harnesses might be just a little too much! ha

So its about time for an update!

Been spending a lot of time recently getting the car all levelled out. The 2 bars at the feet of the cage will be my reference point so these were levelled into the car and then using some axle stands welded where I needed them and also to the bar, the car then levelled on the slightly sloping floor. The bottom of those bars is the floor level too.

I collected two 3 metre lengths of 2"x3" box which is the next phase yesterday which were kindly drilled by Shaun Larnder as per template (if you could call it that eh Shaun? ) for the front subframe and tie bar brackets. Laying them on top of my horizontal bars I can check my levelling :D

Front and back side to side...

and front to back each side along the box...

    I'm pretty chuffed with that.

So with the subframe now bolted up I needed to get some kind of reference point of the turrets in relation to the subframe. So off to the donor to make a jig....

    And all into place...

Next up was to square off the box legs so they are even front to back. We did this then tacked some bar in to keep it true. Next was to position the box into the middle of the car, taking lots of measurements. Once happy I used some inch box to make some level uprights tacked to my horizontal bars so that when I now raise the box it will keep it pretty much straight left to right still Thats now all done....

Next job is to put engine back in then adjust the position front to back to where I want it then I can focus on levelling them at the correct height. Again I will use some old axle stands welded up.

    Thanks for looking.

mr simps, have you ever used a water level??? its basically a roll of clear hose filled with neat screenwash & is possibly the most accurate spirit level you'll ever use, as it will work perfectly from one end of the car to the other without any calibration needed.. it might be worth knocking one up to check, as your spirit level has more than an smidgeon of inaccuracy.

I have not but just googled it! Looks simple enough. I have some clear tube somewhere, will give it a go! Cheers.

I will be running some fancy hubs that basically raise the spindle up by 50mm. This has the effect of lowering the car 50mm but retain the exact same suspension geometry, so no bump steer, added neg camber etc. So with coilovers too I can drop the turrets 50mm and lower the remaining required 25-50mm on the coilovers. Plus the engine needs to come down a bit yet anyway and therefore the subframe & turrets. Does that make sense?
