as benn said its inside the left of the inlet, unsure why his would have shorted....
thanks, when I was struggling to get the intercooler to fit behind the bumper I was tempted just to chop the lot out, glad I didn't.
cheers! more to come from my quarter mile times next month![]()
update
with PVS being my first test of the car it through up a few things I needed to fettle, I was struggling to get 5th/6th and 1st/3rd/5th had also moved along way forward. I managed to reset the linkage to a good neutral position with 3rd to 4th being a good throw.
after a lot of messing around to get 5th and 6th whilst also trying to keep reverse, the only way to sort this was to trim down some of the gearstick shaft as it was hitting against the top of the gaiter surround stopping it going over enough for the relevant gears. trimming it down has now allowed the selection of all gears which im happy with now.
something that I found annoying was the my boost and oil temp gauges weren't bright enough when in daylight, this lead me to take the feed from the 'lights on' off to a permanent feed that runs the gauges, nice and bright so ideal!
next on the agenda was some grippier tyres for better launches, I managed to source some half worn yokohama ao48's for the fronts. I would have bought new as we get quite a good deal at work but at half the price it was a bit better for me.
so having the cesaros fitted I needed to crack on with my centre caps.
I didn't like the recess in the middle of the caps so decided to smooth these off, first job was to heat up the centre and gently tap the dome inwards, this was followed by a very quick skim of filler, primer and paint.
now im really unsure what colour I used to paint the wheels, was either carmine red or flame red, I bought a can of carmine red as I had more empty cans of this laying about so a bit of presuming happened, in my opinion I opted for the wrong colour....
the caps were finished with some stainless domed bolts
my trailers light board took a nasty fall a couple of weeks ago when delivering a car, I kept it so it was removable as the brackets helped hold the ramps down, I had enough of this so made them permanent on the ends of the trailer.
hopefully looking at getting into the 12s next week with a bit of luck, fingers crossed.
thanks for looking

Update
Its been a mighty long time since ive updated, either havnt had time or just been too lazy. As my last post I was chasing a faster quarter mile time, which see me down to 13.3s at a 110mph, launching, tramping and clutch slip wernt helping me one bit. So plans have been set out to rectify any faults and go for more power than I had (phase 2 spec).
The list at the moment is:
Paddle clutch
Bigger turbo
Upgrade my fuel system
Forged rods
Uprated valve springs
Equal length shaft
Management??
I have started on the strip and rebuild with further things cropping up that I may aswell change now so Im happy, these include painting the bay again and tidying up loose ends, relocating the header tank to the scuttle, repaint engine parts that have started to age from a lot of messing about and have a lot of bolts/nuts and odd pieces zinc plated.
Over the past 6months ive been collecting parts ready for the upgrades, these include 2 new rear tyres for drag racing, these make the back end of the car sit up higher whilst also being thinner so I can adjust the rear coil overs up without touching the tyre. While attending the castle combe action day I got a taste for some ciruit work, with needing a pair of tyres on the rear for track daying and not wanting to swap my drag tyres and track tyres, I got hold of a pair of cesaros thanks to abolesta (alex) off here. Plan to paint them red to match the other 4 and eventually get 2 yoko ad08 tyres.
I managed to get hold of a cheap bosch 044 fuel pump as a start to changing my fuel system, I did try it on the car but it wasn’t working correctly as it wasn’t getting a good gravity feed. With wanting to keep the pump, I looked up on adding a swirl pot so it would get the supply in needed. The next purchases were a small swirl pot, braided hose in 8mm and 13mm along with a facet lift pump. (an interupter would be better but im sure this will do)
Waiting for parts to turn up cheap has paid off well as Ive managed to get hold of a sachs 4 paddle clutch with a ttv billet flywheel for a good price, along with a z20let management converted to fit a c20let. Both of these items for fitted to ben lomas’ nova, the latter coming off a chap that purchased it from ben originally.
Being interested with the actual weight differences of the clutch/fly setup, the scales came out to see if it would really be beneficial in changing the flywheel.
The original set up came out at 15kg where as the paddle and ttv flywheel were 10kg. Not a bad saving at all. Hopefully this will put a stop to my clutch slipping.
With a lot of enthusiasm for the build I wasted no time in stripping the car down and getting the gear box out.
Then onto the motor, which left me an empty bay. Got a few bits to tidy up first, got it booked into have the bay painted at the end of july by the same person that painted my front bumper as I was very pleased with his work.

The z20let management came with quite a few bits, including a vxr afm, (vxr injectors which im waiting on) and the necessary sensors etc. getting on with the first job of mounting the fly by wire throttle body to the c-let manifold. I bought a 8mm thick aluminium plate to make an adapter. Starting off with ideas and making measurements saw me with a good start.
Ending up with this.
Also not needing the idle control valve any more I fashioned up a blanking plug to block it off. also smoothed off the lugs on the back of the manifold for an extra few mm clearance to the bulkhead and matched the gasket to the ports.
Other parts arrived which included a evo turbo tdo5hra 10.5t, this one has a titanium alloy turbine wheel , a corsa c header tank. (as advised off benn) and a pair of XE dispack cams, I already have a xe inlet so only using the exhaust cam.
Been to Halfords aswell to pick up some paint to tart some bits up.
More progress to follow soon. J
Nice update,
What was your reasoning behind selecting the z20let management route?
Wouldn't Omex have been an easier option? I.e no fly by wire / afm etc.
Keep up the good work.
Great progress, will have some good power when done and a tidier bay.
