The problem with with modern cars is they have been overcomplicated with modern electrics and emissions systems. The weight of vehicles has increased due to the aforementioned electrics and emissions components plus tons of safety equipment. This, plus many other things like cars being designed by computers making them all look alike has made the modern mass produced car very boring.
Bikes don't really suffer this problem. The only emissions you have to worry about would be caused by last nights tea. I dont think an airbag and seatbelt would be a great deal of use on a bike. Modern materials being produced cheaper has made the modern bike better and lighter(Thinks back to the Raleigh Lizzard I owned which weighed the same as a Chieftan Tank!). Better brakes and gear systems make the hills more pleasant knowing the chain isn't going to sod off when you are giving it some on the way up the hill and you can stop on the way down. Mind you I suppose that takes away a little of the excitement
