got the engine on the stand after work, thats as far as i got as i need to go buy a suit for my uncles funeral

going to give it a clean and some paint, black block, silver gearbox and just leave the rocker cover and timing belt case as they are (standard) just with a good clean up

wasn't going to mess with the engine (later Xe) but decided as Ive got the earlier flat flywheel i may as well chuck that on with a new clutch, as thats nearly on the rivets, the pot flywheel is massive compared to the flat one, will have to weigh them and see just how much the weight difference is, also going to treat it to a good service (plugs, oil, filters, belts, water pump, thermostat etc etc..) going to get a 8v gasket for it aswell as the one currently on it is clearly weeping (loads )

not going to go any further with the engine then that for now, want to get it handling spot on before chasing more power

p.s forgot i might send the injectors off to be ultrasonic cleaned aswell

Fair enough. I will never buy **** like that from Screwfix though. Unsure on flapdisk prices, but have you seen how much they ask for a pissing wire cup brush for the 4" grinder? :|
