I once was watching a bloke down my street attempting to weld up steps on an old transit.
Hilarious when the repair patch kept getting bigger and bigger

you can arc weld thin stuff. you just use 1.6mm rods & a lot of care.

i bought a 240v arc welder many years ago, and its ok for small running repair stuff. we have a 415v oxford one in the workshop, that could build a ship..
