we are buying texaco high grade 15w40 diesel engine oil (for euro4) for £1.50+vat/Litre in 205l barrels.. most of these name brand oils are a fancy can & some clever advertising..

silkolene oil (now FUCHS) was legendary for being made from recycled old oil, and it was the only oil allowed on concorde. it had a fabulous reputation back in the day, no hype, just honest oil. they made loads for oe aftermarket too

Vaux Oil for a Vaux engine. If you're a trade member you can get 4 x 5L containers of 10w40 oil for £38.

I just went to get a price for this, admittedly not a trade member and they wanted 1 x 5l £38. Is this right?

Course 1x5L for £38 isn't right if Tekky says it's 4x for the same money Its this stuff you'll get, just find a friendly dealer and ask for 'trade club' prices: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5L-GENUINE...item2ebc00f20d

Trade is a huge difference in price. I went and asked (out of huge interest) what a dizzy cap for the SEH costs. Trade is £54 which is still steep/vertical. But the re-sale price for a garage to charge the customer would be £184

Halfords Trade give you 50% off parts and 30% off oils etc. A dizzy cap from Halfords for the same engine would be like £10 - £15 with a trade card.

I am reliably informed that Vauxhall's oil is made by Fuch's
