i personaly think they look good my mate has them in his saloon nova and they light the road up fine hes a member on here if you wanna ask him for a picture for you his png name is sneakycorsa
Just use them HID bulbs, brought some off ebay for something daft like £10 delivered, massive improvement over standard bulbs
i currently run hid's i think they can be done if you set them up correctly ie have them pointing to the left and far down. i dont get flashed EVER anymore now there set up correctly. up to you really i think there good and as i do alot of night driving they really do light up the deers eyes and are great for b roads....
heres a pic

That pic doesnt really give any info though, you need a pic pointing at flat surface such as a wall from a few metres back to show the beam pattern. Preferably also with halogens too for comparison.

if someone can get a halogen bulb test on a wall i can get a hid one
The topic of HID's is totally debatable, best thing to do is buy a set (not exactly expensive now-a-days) fit them and set them up see what results you get. I have a feeling I will have no problems using them. I will get some pics up when everything has been sorted (don't hold your breath).
heres mine on my wall:
the right one needs to be a tiny bit lower
