    Default C16XE - 40's

Gotta get a temporary engine build sorted...

My 1600 8v got pretty much annhilated by flood water, a rod is sticking out the block and the piston hit the head resulting in quite a bit of damage.

So, the only real thin i'm left with is a Camshaft. So i'm thinking i might go and buy a standard C16XE and run it on my Carbs.

What benefit or loss will i see by running it on carbs ? Price of cams ? Are 40's adequate ?

small block cams, are crap tbh, even the upgraded ones are crap, unless you have your pistons done, 40's will do it, but you will need managment to power the spark

As Baxter says, you will need management for the ignition as you can't run a dizzy. Nowhere to mount it or drive it from.

Prolly easier to buy another 1600SE.

nick... check your insurance , you may be covered for all engine repairs due to flood water , a mate of mine hit a huge puddle due to flooding and water got sucked into his engine, sending rod out through block , insurance paid out after they got report from garage ..
