Well as im sure some of you know ive been mega busy with work, fixing peoples cars, bikes and some mobile plantlol
Ive also torn the c20let apart for a full rebuild for the new track project.
Anyways, back to lucy, shes still here, looking alright now, however its clear that shes been a rushed job in the past, im not happy with the paint in the engine bay, and a tiny 5mm bubble has appeared on the rear arch.
However, ill cover that in the next rebuild, as for now its fine:d
Right then, I have done a bit this month, with all my bolts going off for acid dipping and bright zinc coating.

Then I recieved a brand new Facet Red Top pump for the carbs.

I have taken a couple of pics I like also, showing the red hoses and exhaust heat sheild:thumb:

Holy crap how will ya find homes for all them bolts
Hoses look cool to would like a set for my own but just can't bring myself to pay that much for them lol
It's kind of I'm in this deep, just buy whatever she needs!
No point skimping on some hoses to ruin the look of the whole bay:(
Very true matt have to agree they really set it off I'm in prity deep myself but I think I'll hold out till the car is road worthy before splashing out with it on hoses maybe throttle body's then
looking good fella, how much did it cost to have the bolts BZP'ed if you dont mind me asking? i want a load of brackets doing myself
http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/x..._8313789_n.jpg
Alternator painted lol
And £25 a bag, but its usually around £40.
Its worth it though, its cak building something with used bolts!
I agree mate, will be looking into this further myself :thumb:
Would say bring them down and I will do them lol
Graeme is bringing 2 novas worth of bolts, and engine bolts down and we will get them acid dipped, washed, dried, coated and cooled in around 72 hours:D
Looking good mate :thumb: bolts and brackets look like new
Yeah, you can finish the pile of **** when here lol
Broken my cav dizzy today, hopefully collecting a new one later:)
i can't even be arsed to finish my pile of **** lol starting week 5 with out an engine now :( i need a cheap daily so bad lol
Should have just thrown it together and kicked **** out of it till it dies.
Then turbo it lol
nooooo, this is going to live forever once it's done lol where are the videos of this running then?
Good work for a scanner
Looks nice Matt, like the engine colour.
Fallen out with Lucy ATM.
Turns out the front upper pannel was welded on by someone with 1 hand an clucoma (Like lewis lol)
So, new front upper pannel pulled out of the loft (Sad I have a pannel stash lol)
Engine bay and front pannel will all be sorted and welded/painted at my dads friends bodyshop. He has one of colin mcraes old rally cars in there, so knows his stuff. Propper old school lead fill sorta guy.
Anyways, bought a 3rd set of speedlines for the van, the plan is to have the van, the trailer and the nova all on speedlines lol
Bought the speedlines a bailey breather tank and some headlight protectors off scorge:)
Also aiming to buy the header tank, mocal oil cooler and harnesses off Rich:)
Topmounts appeard for my coilovers too, and some polybushes.
Panel stashes FTW
If your removing the front panel...... Id trial fit everything on the front end once a tack weld or two is holding the new panel in place. A lot of mk2's dont line up properly due to either non genuine panel replacements or not enough time spent aligning/trial fitting. Spoils the finished article and will drive you mad in the long run If it isnt spot on.
Nick.
i'd say the same as nick pal! i took hour's lining my old nova's front panel and had load's of measurement's off differant point's of the car to help, then on with the wing's bonnet grill then off move alittle bit back on ,
do you not fancy fitting it yourself it not a big job?
Cheers Nick, to me thats what I'd do aswell.
Appears the term "tradesman" means someone who just guesses lol
It's going into an old boy my dad knows, he's rebuilding one of mcraes old rally cars ATM, and does some seriously nice work. Did the bootlid on our jag, and it's amazing.
Going to have the engine bay repainted to a "show" standard, and then if funds allow a pair of quater panels and sills.
Then a full blow over in Audi abis White, or glacier:)
I'm sure she won't be as clean as yours nick, but won't be far off:)
I do fancy having a go, I did the rear panel in my old nova, but for this I'd rather let the old boy do it.
He's a professional, and whilst I can do pretty much anything, arty stuff isn't my thing.
Takes a lifetime to learn a trade, and it's best IMO to let someone pro do paint and body work!
I like your nuts and bolts :tard:
Bailey header tank, 2 breather tanks, 3rd set of speedlines and some 308mm brakes.
Next purchases are ali rad, new set of hoses and some more shiny bits:)
do you want to sell one of the breather tanks?
Right then guys and girls.
Purchases where collected on the weekend, and bought some 280mm Willwood 4 pots, an F16CR and a custom solutions washer tank and brake servo cap.:d
Heres the "modified" rear hose, 28 or 30mm brass pipe end caplol
http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/x..._4680834_n.jpg
Then I move on to the "Shiny ****"
Painted the alternator, and put it on to test clearances etc
http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/x..._8313789_n.jpg
Then Went to Redditch to pick up these 2, now Ive bought a brand new breather tank, so "GRANTNOVA!!!" is having the breather one off me:)
http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/x...17668098_n.jpg
Then heres a quick few pics of them fitted.
Hope you enjoyed the small, but shiny update:)

damn you as soon as the guy said there were sold on CS i know youd got them lol
Yeah pal, It was too good to miss imo.
Needed to go see mark in stafford, and only 40 miles further to get the tanks!
Just need the custom solutions stuff to come now:)
And a tx autosports rad, then its game on for strip down, and UBER shiny clean up:)
thats true was a good price. i only wanted the header tank as wont have room on the drivers side for anything lol
Im gonna have to sort something out like Matthew172s setup for mine when the c20let goes in, over the next few years:)
look's photoshopped to me :p
don't bother with smoothing, roughly brushed seam sealer and angle grinder scars is where it's at... lol
...cos thats all you'll be left with anyway when the filler falls out, the moment you jack up one corner lol
looking good though :thumb:
looking good there pal! what you done with the alternator bracket? made your own or bought one???i'm around the weekend if you want me to pop up for the bit's, give me a msg on facebook!:thumb:
did you get the wing bolts from ebay ??:)
Cheers Lewis lol not going for the smoothed look, I CBA, gonna strip it all out, and have it pro painted, then any part that goes back in will be new. Also gonna hide the looms:)
Yeah grant, im out on the KTM sunday, but sure I can sort something:)
Yes ryan, off ebay for pennies tbh:)
Well, bit of an update minus pics!*
I've been busy sorting out a new daily Astra van, got it as a non runner and sorted the pump out and she's away again. However, the nova has received a small amount of love from me.
I've bought, and need to collect on the 25th and 26th of the month a ruck of parts.
Got, brand new passenger door, brand new bootlid and brand new passenger side sill, also bought 2 full genuine gm 1/4 pannels, another set of speedlines, headlight protectors and a brand new bailey breather tank!
Purchased megajolt light ignition system, and got to get that paid for and wired in thanks to Phillip on here!
Also got the rest of the parts for the carbs, just need a linkage now, and then I'm away.
Just finished my rose jointed gear linkage, been building it on my brakes and dinner times in work, I'm really pleased with it, and I've used the link arm from a mk3 Astra so avoid turning the plastic lug round, which IMO gives a nicer stick feel!
I've had the carpets up in the corners of the nova, and can report no rot at all, one scab of surface rust which has been wire wheeled, krust treated and then anti rust primered.
The friend of my dads who has the rallycar bodyshop is coming out this week to have a look see at the front end being sorted out so I can have absolutely perfect pannel gaps!
Aside from this, not that much to report really, apart from this small project has completely spiralled out of control into something that can only be described as building my perfect nova! This will be my first and last nova I build, so I'm doing it properly, as the ones I've had before have just been run about abuse toys lol.
Anyone got a drivers sill and door for me? Lol
