Not checked back on this in a while but it's looking good, nice to see it rolling !! are you doing the paint and prep yourself? all it needs is a quick blast over imo as its going to be more go than show, alot like you see on most jap drift cars, i.e cable tied on bumpers etc etc...

Yes it will be getting a quick paint job. Im doing all the prep work on the body and getting a mate to put the paint on for me. I was going to do it myself but he offered haha.

Cheers for the comments guy

Not sure when it will be finished not set a date for it.

Should be painted for the weekend tho :D

You wont want to buy it its costing about 12k so far and :wtf: its still just a nova at the end of the day lol

BIGS
08-10-08, 03:10 PM
thats ok Bugatti made the veyron to show it can be done, same with you here showing all us lot a 4x4 nova can be done. And Bugatti lost around 80% on what it took to make. So i think you should sell it to me for around £2000 lol

Colin, people have spent alot more and achieved less! Plus most of the coin has been spent on cosworth/uprated cosworth bits which can be thrown on another car/sold on easily! It's not like you've spent 12k on bodykits and alloys.

Ps. Regarding it's still a nova comment, count it up, it's probably about 30% nova! all I can think of is bare shell, glass, lights & grill!

Working on it the night? Might fire round, looks like it'll be a braw night

This is my favourite car EVER.....

Will it be road legal ?

C7LJN
09-10-08, 06:06 PM
Yes it will be on the road mainly just to run the engine in and drive it 5mins to knockhill.

I will be using the nova ID. It would confuse the **** out of the police if they did a vehicle check and came back as a 3door sierra hahah.

Oh and i have just finished painting the shell tonight :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: I will get some pics up tonight when i get back to the house

I do prefer mk1 also but it took long enough to get the kit i wasnt gona send it back for that. The front end does look funny as its like mk1 wings with mk2 front it just looks funny to me...

I could bring the front end in a little with not to much hassle really. a pair of adjustable track control arms and adjustable top mounts. There is enough play in the front shafts to bring it in a bit. And maybe shorten the track rod arm. But for now it will be getting tested as is :D

Loving the shot of the car with the wide arches on next to a standard arch nova, really wide ! these are the magnum motorsport arches yes ? where they join on the quarter panel under the window did you just smooth them in with a skim of filler ? did you rivet them on or bond ?

Yes the arches are from magnum

I cut them down so i can skim them into the first swedge line thought that would be easier
As for the fitting i lined them up drilled some holes ready to rivet them then added the bonding to the arches where they meet the body and then fitted it up with the rivets left for a fue days to set then drilled out the heads of the rivits to catty the quarters up.
I will dig out some pics of where i cut them down to if that helps

Didnt take any pics of the work this weekend but i have now mounted my pressure regulator and ran a return to the tank.
Also fitted my passenger Carbon bucket seat:D its starting to look better now the list of things to be done is getting shorter:) :) and i can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel

I may have just caught them at a bad time not sure

And as for the kit it really wasnt very good. But again this could be due to the fact i was on the phone to them everyday for a month giving them brain damage daily. I think it was just a rush job and could have been finnished alot better

Yeah i remember you said you like to be under estimated, so when the car does take off they wont know what hit them. But the car does look a bit of a racer with the wide arches so people will have some suspicion but i know they wont be thinking it'll be as fast as its going to be. cant wait to see it running :thumb:

IS there much difference size wize in the Sierra Floor? Reason I'm asking is that I know the Sierra has a pretty deep Sill etc. so the Distance from the outer of the door to the start of the floor pan is bound to be a lot more than a Nova.

Yes the rear wheels do have alot of negative camber its the style of the rear beam the lower you go the more you get. It can be sorted out with welding some rose joints on my rear arms and making it all adjustable.

Will be a job i look into when its all finished and tested on the track

and they look good with a mk2 bumper

gunny

if you look at the morrette conversion the go into the mk1 wings where the indicators would be, meaning he would have to cut holes in his wings to make the morrette grill piece fit
