Well Sparkie is the guy that is in close contact with Ricky (the windscreen man)

I'd assume that begining of December Ricky will place the order for the screens and they should arrive in Jan for them to be sent out/collected mid Jan. That was what Sparkie orignally mentioned.

Don't forget that there are 2 more possible buyers on here and Sparkie did say that end of Nov was the deposit deadline, so we may wait for them (my guess)

I'm sure Sparkie will ask the right question etc and come up with some options. We should all be pretty happy that we have got 9 people and the group buy can continue :thumb: I want mine too but really don't mind waiting till Jan, start the new year with a clear outlook ;)

ive spoken with Ricky since the begining of the thread, kept him and the thread up to date

i will deal with everything reference the GB, as soon as ricky confirms all deposits arived, screens ordered, and screens arrived i will put up a thread and PM all involved, then you can personally deal with ricky yourself to arrange delivery and payment in full or collection

i assume ricky will take monies owed when you collect, not 100% sure but i will send that email after this post

right we have 9 so the GB is on, well done all involved but please stop flapping before its even begun

The screens don't come in boxes just plastic bags. WE box them up in and
foam fills them for postage only and for sure you would not get the box in a
car as its 150 X 30 X 100 way to big for most cars.
When collecting in person the will fit on the back seat quite safely

I've had a Nova windscreen on my (Volvo) rear seat for a couple of weeks and it's been fine. Just wrap it in something and tie the seatbelts around it so it won't move.

Sorry to spam Mark but what a whopper this guy must be to try and charge us fifteen quid to box them up, I'm sure we have given him a little boost in his sales just before Christmas when most are slowing down, I'm glad I'm collecting and I know for a fact that a box and foam filling does not cost anything like that, I know his products are niche but not his packaging

I am getting it delivered so won't matter for me as it's £40 p+p.

It will be absolutley fine bubble wrapped/foam wrapped, put in the back seat and secured. It won't crack that easy but it's a bit jammy of him to ask £15 for some cardboard and bubble wrap tbh.

If I went to Currys to buy a tv they wouldn't give you it out of the box then try and charge extra for it.

Not really. He could have charged £165+ to include a box but not allow you to opt out of having the box. Boxes, packing material and the time to pack them cost money.

I spoke to Ricky today, he was there cleaning up, apparently he is open Monday to Thursday normally but if we all agree on a Saturday morning or afternoon in the near future, and get Mark (Sparkie1401) to confirm it with him he said he'd try to fit us all in to collect, this is for people who want to collect them and can't get the time off in the week, maybe a poll Mark to see which date works?

Glass should be sealed around the edge... Sealant can be worse as if water gets in it cant get out at all and it will rust, i was gonna put mine in dry.

Much like fitter always use exhaust paste, its to make sure there's no leeks. As they need it in and out as fast as poss.

My exhaust system has no paste and doesn't blow... My screen rubber has no sealant, well a tiny bit that was left on the old rubber.. But i'll replace that.

He said to me that a non curing sealer thats definately not silicon based should be used between the glass and rubber, the rubber to the body is suposed to retain the window in a crash/accident, what he recommended to me was a roof/gutter sealer and he showed me what would happened if it wasn't sealed, the glass was cloudy and the element was rusty and non operational

He told me there was no polarity on the screens hence there being four black wire, so use two as grounds and two as feeds, and use a 20/30 amp accessory relay per feed and I'm sure some who is more computer illiterate than myself will knock one up for you Ed

The whole idea of a group buy though, is one person from the club collects all the funds & deals with the supplier in one go, therefore, the supplier has minimal dealings & only 1 order to process. Said Grp Buy administrator goes out of his/her way to distribute the products @cost price (no profit) & the saving is passed on.

I can't help notice from this thread that it didnt happen here. And it only took 'too feckin long' to organise from start to finish.

MY point exactly. Someone should have organised the GB & purchased 10 screens from ricky. Not Ricky sell 10 screens to 10 PNG members.

According to the previous GB thread, people were very pleased with the dealings with Ricky... odd.

Effectively he delt with one person until the screens were in the UK, A few dealings with Mark and 10 cheques landed on his doormat, and I'm sure if his postage costs were more reasonable then most would of just had them dispatched straight away, and it was hardly likely that one person was going to collect and dispatch them due to the size and the likelyhood of them being damaged, and tbh the group couldn't of been more spread out around the country if you tried
