NOVA-KID-93

Depends what the MO's look like at the min Jay, i say steels but thats without knowing what the MO's are like!!
TBH id keep the steels on to be a lil different from the rest, loads of them are gonna be wearnin MO's!!

Steelies, but paintthe weight black.

Jay
04-06-09, 12:53 PM
Steels it is.

Anyway, dad had a row with the shot blasters yesterday about my wheels. They said they would be done in a week, dad went down there 5 weeks later and they had not even moved! So the wheels are back at his garage. Still not decided what to do with them yet, i can get £200-£250 for them as they are as they were on here/corsasport and MIG for sale a while back and had loads of interest. Will make a decision whilst I'm at PV most probably.

Jay.

rings have gone more then likely its a common problem with these engines

AlexW
05-06-09, 06:10 PM
Wont know if its rings or HG untill the head is off. I wouldnt call rings a common probem with baby xes. No more than ANY other engine.

Jay

Pain in the rectum, especially when you're trying to gather cash for the other bits to get it running.

Exactly mate, oh well as ive said to a few people on here, the Nova is not 100% ready yet, still few more things i need/want to get before i properley show it off. I.e. needs new bonnet and boot - Some custom shizzle on the boards i think. But we'll see how it goes, next year will really get me to know the car a bit better once i have the gaz coilovers and the poly kit.

Jay.

Jay

Have you be able to test it yet?
Missing like fun, hg i'd be inclined to say, pull the plug out are they washed clean?
Water in the oil, oil in the water? Losing water?

Benn

i had this with my c16xe, its really strange, compression all ok, no oil in water, ect:

took it all to bits, everything was sound,

i found out what it was you will giggle at it, as iv never seen anything like it before

one of the hydrolic buckets had a crack in it, letting oil down past the bucket and valve, letting oil drip into the bores

Jay
09-06-09, 06:54 PM
Comp test done.

175 175 175 175 so all is good there.

Found some motivation!!!

Got home from work today and a few things arrived in the post. I decided to go try a few bits on the car. Still havent got the engine out but going to santa pod this weekend so i'd say mid next week it should be out and on the way to my dads workshop. Pics below of new goodies.

Jay.

Got myself a new windscreen with a blue top tint (not genuine) fitted for £55 which i couldn'y really say no. mine had a load of chips and fancied a top tint.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e46/jays_nova/DSC00519.jpg

I then placed my new washer bottle in its new place and then fitted my carbon cover. V.pleased with this.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e46/jays_nova/DSC00522.jpg

Then got 1 4 pot out and done a test fit.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e46/jays_nova/DSC00527.jpg

Then a pic i think alot of you will like, 288 discs with 4 pots under 15" steels... :d

Nice comment Benn. Just got back from pod a few hours ago and wanted to get my gaz coilovers fitted... So i did, there all donw bar 2 top mount peices (see mechanical)

Fronts need to come up a little and rears are all the way down, bit dissapointed as thought would be lower but oh well - Just to see how low it would go. Got the camera out and thought id snap some of the bay with the new carbon.

Yeah i know Ad will higher it when its ready to be let loose on the road again (few months yet) Still got some loan money left over so it will be getting:

Door handles, Mk2 fuel cap, Smooth grab handle, Mirror covers are going Metallic black.
Bumpers are going metallic black with a colour coded pin stripe
Steels are going mettalic black
Dash, centre console, door pockets getting flocked. But ideally i could do with a new bonnet and boot, both have a few dents. If i do ill be getting a early mk1 non grab handle boot and a mk1 bonnet.

Jay. Oh a btw people the car is not ready yet and these next few months it will only get better.

Looks lovely and low, makes me moist!

What lengh springs did you go for in the end?
Gaz look awesome. Get come grease or copper slip under the plateform adjusters tho. They can size/stick nicely.

Bay does look good, scuttle cover finishes it nicely.

Painted bumpers will look great, not feeling the black, but will see what it looks like when painted.

Jay

Black is just a test i think if i like it it'll stay if not then Anthracite may work.

6" - 7" guess at the front not sure on the rears, i just asked for the short bodies and the spring rating.

Cheers for the good comments lads.

Other wise it's looking very nice, just get it running good mate.

Opened my bonnet today before i went to work and it looked as if it was missing something. To have a carbon scuttle panel only in carbon fibre would be silly, so decided to take my rocker cover to work and make up a spark plug cover. All went well and had some CF left over so made a cover for the oil cap. I think the spark plug cover may need trimming down a bit but will stay as it is for now :)

Look like theres allot of moister in there, also you might need another inlet manifold, as that one looks like it might give you some serious head aches with clearance issues, or bulk head out!

Done a deal with the whole car today (Corsa B) and got all this:

1400 16v engine £500 worth of head work
Nova tech tb's with Omex 500
60mm lowering kit
Bailey header tank
16" alloys with 4 new tyres
Full polybush kit
4 Branch manifold
Rare lexmaul front bumper
Full group N exhaust
Depo headlights i think

So hopefully i can sell about £800 worth of bits and get the throttle bodies for even cheaper :)

Ad, pm me everything there is to know about them i have no idea can't find any info anywhere :)

Adam
18-08-09, 10:59 PM
Theres not a huge amount to say tbh?
They are no longer made, used be made by Bernie at Novatech racing.
You will have to check whether yours are 40mm bore or 45.
That small screw in the middle of them is the idle stop screw.

Apart from that, they are pretty much the same as any other body :)

If youve got the management too you're laughing as the tps,map etc is already going be setup for you. :)
If you dont go ahead with the swap, let me know if you want to sell the management!!!

They should clear the firewall, my do on my XE :)

Jay
18-08-09, 11:01 PM
Ive also got omex 500 with it, any idea how much its going to cost me to get it all setup.

Adam
18-08-09, 11:15 PM
Omex 500 is quite an old ecu, but anywhere that can map should do ok with it.

If everything is sound, probably just a few hours mapping time. Few hundred quid maybe, depending on where you take it
