More weight loss - Dash and Dials

Decided I'd finally get round to fitting my new dials and get rid of the old dash.

Picked these up a few months back on fleabay, from a VX220.



Didnt want to mess around fabricating a to complicated mount,



so used the orginals with a simple plate welded to my column mount





Drilled some holes.



Stage 1 complete:



The standard shroud fitted nicely with only minimal trimming to the rear



Now for the fun loom, which after finding a link to a dutch site that gave full a wiring diagrams (in english) was straight forward enough.

Just the speedo to wire up now, i have a digi dash sender and im gonna get a pulse converter from DOM on Mig which should make calibrating it nice n easy.
Also need to make up a switch panel that will also hold fuse box.

Weighed the old dash and dials - its about 6KGs (without heaters or pipes), and the new dials weighs under 500g so saved 5.5 kgs... not bad.

Is that the entire dash including glovebox and plastic bits that weighs 6kg?

Lee303 was one of the first to use the vx220 clockset I remember the feature from a few years ago... maybe give him a shout if you run into any problems as Im sure he said that he'd given quite a few the wiring diagram

It wasnt all plastic bits, IIRC it didnt include the head light, hazard/clock/blower or the ashtry plastics, but did include dials, dial cover and glove box.

Petrol guage needs some work i think. I test it prior to fitting and it works on 0 resistance being empty and full ristance (ie no signal to be full). Havent had the engine up to temperature yet to test the coolant temp, but again will probly needs some work.

Those dials look awesome, how much did they cost you?

I paid about £50 from a breakers on ebay 'BIN', who I emailed prior to bidding and told them id bid if they included a length of loom and the connector, which they did.

are these costly ? i was going to put digi dash in but i never seen one of them done till now.
