Default Few pics & video from Local drag event.

I went to our local 8th mile drag event yesterday which is taking off in our area. Considering the time of year it was absolutely rammed with spectators & participants alike.

There is an 8th mile drah strip which although a bit short, seems to pull in the number with the queue being very long throughout the afternoon. New for this month was a small handling circuit which caught my attention & was good watching, the strip s tricky to get a good view because of the numbers.

Anyway. Heres a few pics of the Nova's I saw & also a vid of the Nova that held the winning time for the handling circuit nearly all day until a well practiced Clio 182 finally took a tenth of a second off the Nova's time with an 18.1sec to the Nova's 18.2. The Nova was unable to respond as he sheared a rear engine mount on the drag strip in the mean time.

Nicely prepped & reshelled GTE for hillclimbs & sprints. 16 8v with OMEX & TB's.

Shonky & rotten mk2 SR in need of loving...

SPOTTED! IS this you? PNGCLUB.COM stickers in windows..

One of the Pink Nova's handling runs. Approx 18.5 sec IIRC (not best run)

    2.0 8v with twin webbers.

Its great event thats really taking off. The queues for food vans etc were huge, you could hardly see any Drag action due to the crowds & there were hundreds of tuned cars & bikes to see, enough to keep any petrolhead happy.

Looks like a good turnout for a local event! Some rather nice cars there too.

Thats actually my mate getting out of it after having a go around the handling circuit. Its a 325 tourer.

Event has taken off big style, there mustve been a couple thousand people there atleast I'd say. Not bad for November.

Yep, its well publicised on the local kroooze forums. Might have to go give it a looksee next time, been a bit put off by previous attempts as it always sounded a bit chavvy... but this last one seems to have been good.

Might even take the '4 up the strip when it comes back :D

I felt the same, fewer cavs than PV though tbh & it was so busy you had a job to take in everything that was happening around you if you were looking at something in particular. It seems to be a victim of its own success but only in a good way if you know what I mean.

Should be a good place for meets in the future.

Yeah, sounds good. Do you know when the next one is? Would be funky to have a PNG presence there.

Not sure tbh, the website is w.streetnights.co.uk perhaps???

Its a good idea for a regional PNG presence but I cant see the point what with 50% of the regional members driving Toyota's & Fiesta's currently.
Might aswell wait & make it worthwhile tbh.
