gear oil???

what type of gear oil goes in the box of a 2.0 8valve

its the red stuff


but what exactly is it????

i got some at the motorfactors today..........that the guy recomended......but its a yellow colour

Yellow is fine. Usually 70/80w or something along those lines.

The red is just the stuff that vauxhall use/recommend

i remember something about red stuff being used as its thinner, so makes it easier to shift when cold. its EP80/90, possibly bette known as ATF (auto transmission fliud)
