Default i think my cams had it

ok my nova when running sounds like its running on three, the rac man on friday said that it could be the cam timing out(belt jumped a tooth) or a dropped spring as it was blowing back through the inlet manifold..so i checked the cam timing and all the lines and marks are correct...took the rocker cover off to check to see if all rockers and springs were working and a came across this problem with my cam shaft...it looks like theres a lobe missing of the shaft .....any one have any ideas if this is the problem...thanking you muchley

    I should think so
I would also go looking for the said missing lobe. If the lobe is missing then the valve wont open and so it won't do its job. If its spitting back up the inlet then I reckon the lobe operates an exhaust valve.
