wont tick?!

when i turn the key it just clicks, as if the starter motor is stuck?! its not the battery. ive tried giving it a bang to free it up but still no joy? any ideas would be great, thanx

see if it turns with a set of jump leads connected, if it doesn't the starter's most likely seized, I had this with one of my spares.

Hit the starter with a hammer.

if hitting it doesnt work try rolling it in gear, that sometimes frees them up
