    Default J710BYD 1.6 T40 Build

    Well it's started!

Im rebuilding ma nove. It's currently a two lady owner (one is mum ) 67k 12n red nova, with full vauxhall service history and a spec sheet as follows:

    Weber 36TML carb
    Ashley 4-Branch and exhaust
    Avo Shock and Springs -60mm
    ATE 256mm brakes
    Goodridge Hoses
OZ F1 Cups with Goodyear Eagle F1's

    The Plan:

E16SE - fully rebuilt with lightened and balanced crank and flywheel
    Weber twin 40 carbs
    Kent AST2 (or similar)
    Blydenstein B pack head
    RedTop fuel pump
    Rose-jointed lower arms
    Avo Coilovers
    Eccentric Mounts
Smoothed GSi bumpers with mk3 golf GL splitter
    Maybe louved wings and bonnet
    and a re-spary (maybe a colour change)
2 Corba Sidewinder Buckets no rear seats, plastic panels
Sort the rust/bodywork - New Front and rear panels and repair boot floor (so far) and seam weld engine bay

Anyway I'm now home from uni for three weeks and going to get a move on. Unpacked the engine crane, but didn't put it together as a mate came round in his new car (Civic 1.6 V-Tec - what do you mean fast!) Went down Vauxhall (Yeovil) and order lots of bits that cost lots almost fell over when he told me the price of the main bearing shells and top piston rings... and then that was each! Spent the rest of the day trying to hunt down cheaper ones. Any ideas? can get the top piston rings for ?58 + vat i think for a set. No luck on the Shells.

    Plans for tomorrow:

    Build engine stand
    Sit back and admire work
Get materials to build car stand
    Build car stand
Admire work - drink tea, be brave and ring LMF and AutoVaux
Strip front suspension, bumpers, lights, etc
    Clean suspension and paint.
Take photos of said mincing and car parts

Hands up who thinks i'll get that all done in a day.

    Last time i saw her:

yea, well only the odemeter bit, clocked to the cars mileage. Ordered most bits on Monday, picking them up tomorrow. If you could find out a trade price on both the piston rings and crank shells, please. Would perfer genuine parts, but 300 odd quid for some curved metal is just silly. Part numbers are:

    90093813
    90234429

might need a few other bits so i'll keep you in mind

    Cheers

thats pretty much what i said, and appearently so do alot of people. Not looking forward to repairing the boot floor, but other panels should be fine. I have a good friend who worked in the trade for 18 years, so he can help me out Just going out to pick up the bits from Vauxhall now so i can get started on the engine
