dont kill a mint shell with a c20xe or c20let, just find a mint 1300sr or a 1600 8v/16v engine and fit one of them. mine has done only 26,000 on a b reg and i made the mistake of fitting an xe. wont last forever
but what ever you decide to do leave the exterior as standard as possible. i fitted a mk1 sr front bumper, left the side strips on and just fitted a mk2 rear bumper as the mk1's have got an exhaust cut out in them( dont like them)
